My son was driving his 2009 Mustang and after stopping at a stop sign in a residential neighborhood, he slowly accelerated and the car suddenly accelerated quickly on its own. He said the gas pedal went to the floor, he tried pushing brake and it was not stopping the car. It sent him through another intersection, he engaged emergency brake to no avail. Luckily his car went through an area of soggy grass that helped slow the car down, and came to a stop by running into hedges and resting next to a brick church. He described hearing the rpm's revving up along with the sudden acceleration. He also described the steering wheel as "locking up".

We purchased our new Mustang from hasting's Ford in greenville, nc in Nov 2017 for my wife's birthday. This was our fourth Mustang and we really loved the Mustang until this purchase. On Dec 13th 2017 my wife was driving in a 20 mph zone and made a right turn at almost a stop and the accelerator suddenly sped up on its own which caused her to go up on the curb and hit a building. The car stopped and she put it in reverse and it did it again. She finally turned the car off. We had it towed to the body shop, we checked the car mat and it did not cause the problem. The body shop took it to a local Ford dealer and they checked the computer and stated that there were no codes listed. We researched and it states that it the throttle body fails that there would be no code sent. We contacted the dealer hasting's Ford and their comment was that no recalls were on the vehicle and that was their response. We called Ford and their response was that they hope it would not happen again. We had the car damage fixed over $10,000. 00 for the repairs for a car that had 497 miles on it. Now we have a new car that may kill us one day but as Ford stated they hope it doesn't happen again.

I was in a parking garage easing down a ramp at 5 mph when the vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own forcing the left front wheel over a sixteen-inch barricade causing the driver side of the vehicle to rise so forcefully that it nearly flipped upside down. The vehicle rotated 180 degrees and landed on the pavement with such force that the rack and pinion steering mechanism broke. My eyeglasses flew off my face and landed several feet away.

The contact owns a 2009 Ford Mustang. The contact stated while driving approximately 55 mph, there was an unexpected increase in acceleration. The vehicle failed to decelerate even though the brake pedal was engaged forcefully. The vehicle reduced speed after shifting numerous times from first to second gear. The vehicle was maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine began to increase rpms rapidly. The vehicle was turned off and steam emitted from the radiator. There were no flames present. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the technician informed the contact that the throttle became stuck in an open position which contributed to the unintended acceleration. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that while driving 70mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 100 mph without warning. The brake pedal and emergency brake were engaged simultaneously before the gear was placed into neutral in order to turn the vehicle off. However, the engine continued to raved after restarting the engine. The failure was experienced several times. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 38,000 and the current mileage was 51,000.
I was accelerating from a stop and the vehicle began to accelerate out of control. I taped the gas pedal and that stopped the rapid acceleration. This is the second time this has happened. The first time I was passing a vehicle and the vehicle accelerated out of control until I hit the gas pedal harder. This is a serious problem that needs a recall.
First incident: I was approaching my mail box to stop and get my mail out, while braking instead of stopping the car accelerated and went right past my mailbox. I drove into my stone driveway, the car continued to accelerate rapidly even though I had stopped, the tires were spinning so fast they mad ruts in my driveway. Even sitting there in park, the rpm needle was racing upward. No check engine lights go on. I turned the car off. Next day I went out, and car was still accelerating without me stepping on the gas. Scared to drive it, I had it towed to a service center. They had it for a week and a half, never happened for them, and said unless it happens while they have it, could not determine the cause. (although they did mention a few possibilities: throttle position sensor, leakage, computer) as I was taking my car to a Ford dealership on 8/9/13 for other service, I explained what happened and they said also unless the car did it while it was there they would not be able to check it out. Second incident: while driving on a highway, probably about 55-60 mph, the car on its own sped up, the rpm need seemed stuck at 3, even though I was breaking the car wasn't slowing down; and just like that, probably in 30 seconds, it recovered and ran fine. I wrote a letter on 9/6/13 to Ford motor CO explaining what is happening and asking for their help in identifying a solution. I received a letter back from Ford motor CO dated 9/16/13, they offer no assistance at all.

3 incidents: 1. Needed to use the passing gear and the car kept accelerating with the pedal stuck to the floor. As I was about to go to neutral the pedal released. Dealer diagnosis was to clean throttle body and fuel system at a cost of $160 2. A week later, during moderate acceleration entering an interstate on-ramp, it happened again. Traffic was light so I let it go and eventually the pedal kicked back 3. In early may, did it again during light acceleration on a surface road, this time I was in heavy traffic. Put car in neutral, turned to a side street to stop, put it in park and shut off engine. Upon restart, it was ok returned car to dealer on may 9, left car for a week. They said 2 things, they agreed the floor carpets were not at fault and when one was available, they would put some sort of recorder device on the car that I would activate only when the problem occurred again. Today is July 28, 2012 and they have not produced the device. Occasionally, when road conditions are ok, I try to trigger the condition, but it has not happened again. I'm not a believer that mechanical things fix themselves I've seen multiple articles on the internet about similar problems with 2005-2006 Mustangs and also Ford recalls of other makes/models with similar problems regarding accelerator pedals and automatic speed control malfunctions causing rapid acceleration needless to say, I drive the car with much caution and a lot less enjoyment.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated intermittently; at first, the contact believed the problem to be because of driver error. On November 25, 2010 while the vehicle was idling, it suddenly accelerated and crashed into a vehicle in front although the contact depressed the brake pedal. A police report was filed. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were 78,250.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang. While driving less than 5 mph on a gravel road surface, the contact attempted to park the vehicle. The brakes were engaged, and the engine revved excessively high with an unintended acceleration causing the tires to spin. The vehicle would not slow down and the gear selector was shifted into "park". The acceleration failure continued. The vehicle came to a complete stop when the engine was turned off. The contact waited a few moments and resumed operation. During the travel the speed rate increased to 100 mph unexpectedly. The vehicle slowed down after repeated application to the brakes. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis where no trouble codes were detected. The technician was unable to duplicate the problem. The contact had significant concern pertaining to the safety defect and feared driving the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 51,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerates on its own. The first failure occurred in February of 2009 while driving 20 mph. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced an unspecified part. On may 25, 2008, while slowing down at an intersection, the vehicle proceeded to accelerate. The contact depressed the brake pedal with both feet, but the vehicle continued to accelerate and proceed through traffic. She was able to steer into a parking lot and place the gear into neutral to stop the vehicle. She waited for a while before restarting the vehicle and driving to her residence. The vehicle will be towed to the dealer. The dealer stated that the part they replaced could be defective and may have caused the failure to recur. They further stated that if the repair is electrical, it could be very costly because the vehicle is out of warranty. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 24,000 and current mileage was 32,000.
Three times in the last 3 years, my daughter's Mustang experienced uncontrolled acceleration. The engine raced without pushing on the accelerator. The brake was useless. Twice she was in traffic and narrowly avoided a crash. This week my wife was using the car and it did the same thing, and she crashed into a building. She was backing out of a parking space when it happened, hitting a pole. Then, when placed in drive, the car raced forward. Again the brake was ineffective. Two years ago, this was reported to a Ford dealer, who didn't find, nor fix, anything. Strangely, they now have no record of the problem being reported. However, Ford does.
Unintended acceleration: twice in one year, vehicle continued to accelerate when foot was off the accelerator and foot was on the brake. Happened between 20-45 mph. Stock floor mats are in car. Driver was able to bring the car to a stop, but required much heavier than normal brake pressure. Vehicle being taken to Ford dealer to diagnose. Additional posts on this same issue with this same model vehicle (both '05 and '06 model years) are located on this NHTSA complaint board. The likelihood that it is related to the vehicle being equipped with an electronic throttle appears to be a real possibility; would be highly beneficial for NHTSA to further investigate prior to accidents and injuries occurring.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Mustang gt. The contact stated that his vehicle is experiencing speed control failure. The failure caused him to crash into a fence after accelerating over a curb. The sudden acceleration occurred after he stopped at a stop sign to make a right turn. Before crashing, the contact lost control and the vehicle made a 180 degree turn. The vehicle continued to accelerate even after he removed the key from the ignition. There were no injuries as a result of the crash. The contact's insurance company and Ford both investigated the failure and stated that no visible failure could be found. The speed was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 18,536.
The vehicle is driven approximately 500 miles a month, 90% of the time by my wife. On may 24, 2007 my wife drove it to work as usual. When she arrived at work the parking space she usually parks in was occupied. She then proceeded to circle a small island to return to the entrance drive where the parking spaces are. Once one was located she had to make a right turn to access it. While pulling into the parking space and perpendicular to the car stop, about half way into the parking space, the car suddenly accelerated. She hit a tree about 10 - 12 feet away from the parking space. The vehicle is currently at the dealership we purchased it from awaiting body & paint repair.
Vehicle continued to noticeably accelerate (without foot on accelerator) when attempting to brake from 35 mph. Continued strong pressure on brake as car continued to attempt to accelerate (engine revs continued to rise. ) after car's brakes thankfully overpowered the acceleration and brought the car to a full stop, the unintended acceleration and motor revving stopped.
I was driving 30-35 miles on a busy street (over pass) in a 2005 Ford Mustang with my wife. The car went crazy unintended sudden acceleration with a frightening noise. I tried desperately to stop the car by braking hard and meantime to avoid the cars ahead and opposite coming cars. The car would not stop. I applied hand brake ,that did not help either only to leave heavy skid mark and the car to spin once thankfully in a corner of a three way road,at that stage I tried to put the car in park position ,but the second the gear reached the reverse mark the car went full speed backwards crossing the busy nordhoff way hitting a pole and fire pump and with car tires spinning at full speed at the moment I managed to put the car in park position and turn off the engine. Luckily nothing serious happened to me and my wife and no car or other person . Thanks to god. How. ? I don't know ,someone up there must have taken care of us and the others because this street is near a shopping mall and the day was Saturday 15 April and tim was 1 pm afternoon. The police and fire team got there immediately and there is a police report of the incident. I have hard time to convince insurance allstate and Ford dealers to assign an engineer to look into the matter. I need your advise please. W e are emotionally disturbed .
I was driving through a shopping center parking lot at a speed of approximately 5-10 mph, approaching a stop sign. There were about three cars ahead of me. As I applied the brakes, the engine suddenly revved and bucked 3 times right into the back of the vehicle in front of me. The brakes were applied throughout, but did not stop the vehicle. That Monday vehicle was taken to Ford dealership and they could not duplicate problem, therefore no assessment was made. They suggested the after market floor mat I was using could have possibly been the cause for the sudden acceleration. I disagree, the floor mat was very heavy and did not shift about and was not in the way of the accelerator pedal; although, I have removed the floor mat. Any further incidents will be reported.
Vehicle experienced high idle and sudden acceleration while driving.

Car accelerates suddenly without warning at stop or at 0-5 mph(throttle goes wide open)in forward or reverse. Must shut off ignition switch to stop car, brakes will not stop car. Problem corrected by dealer under warranty first time. Replaced purge air valve. Four years later problem is reoccuring again. Believe purge air valve has failed again. Original servicing dealer is out of business. Wondering if this problem is widespread in Mustang line since it has a potential to loose control of car, damage property or loss of a life.
