Brake stop lamps remain on when I was driving, my car was having throttle/acceleration issues. When I had my foot on the gas, my car would accelerate and the rpms would rise, but then all of a sudden the acceleration stopped as if I was not applying throttle. I had to constantly take my foot off the gas and reengage for the car to drive home. When I parked my car, I noticed that my brake lights were all on even though my car was turned off & it is draining the battery out. I did some research & found out there is a recall for this issue (22s02) for the 2015 Ford model & dealership mentioned that recall doesn't apply to my vehicle. So I have to get the repair done by replacing the break light switch & break pedal bumper assembly with my local auto zone shop and pay from my pocket.

Speedometer went to zero while driving and seemed to be in neutral. Could not accelerate. Also low fuel warning light came on when I had a full tank. After car was shut off and restarted speedometer seemed fine for about 1 mile, then self accelerated. Now continues to read zero and can not accelerate unless I restart engine.

• std cruise control failure. Yes, available for inspection, test drive and failure analysis. • upon turning cc (cruise control) on the green icon appears (should be ghost icon) and is set at the speed limit. If below the speed limit no speed up to "set" speed occurs. Instead if you speed up, manually, to "set" speed you can't go past the "set" speed. Pressing on the accelerator has a power loss and flat lining. Speed does not increase until you go to heavy open throttle then it "takes off". Impossible to drive in cruise control mode. • problem was presented to gaudin Ford dealership >>> twice. Once on December 17th, 2024 and again on March 4th, 2025 gaudio Ford states " npf - no problem found normal operation at this time". Also, "unable to duplicate concern no dtc were present no tabs or scams for this concern rise with shop foremen all systems are working with spec at this time". Back on Dec 17th, 2024 reported "checked oasis found ssm 53160. Per ssm they will be an update available at first quarter of 2025. Recommend returning when update is available ". • has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no. • were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? no. Not aware of.
Unexpected downshift to first while driving between 40 mph to 65 mph can lead to complete loss of cruise control, accompanied by a wrench symbol and an error code. Additionally, the speedometer fails to display a reading and may abruptly drop to first gear without any prior warning. Signaling low fuel levels.

2013 Mustang v6, 6r80 automatic transmission. Lead frame is failing, I am getting code p0720. My VIN falls outside of the recall, so I have to spend $850 to get lead frame fixed. Airbag light turns on, dashes through my odometer, and car stays stuck in 5th gear until I cycle key.
While driving home, driving speed was 55 mph, car engine bogged down and orange wrench icon illuminated on dash. I was not far from home and was able to continue and "limp" home. Car would not go faster than 10-15 mph. When I parked car in garage and shut car off, the brake lights stayed on. There was no warning lights or anything wrong with car before incident. Car has not been inspected by dealer or service center. Doing further research online, I was directed to look at drivers floorboard for plastic pieces. I did find broken, yellowish colored plastic pieces on floor board. According to others, which have been experiencing the same issue, the brake light switch stop bumper pad has failed. I was able to find a recall (safety recall 22s02) that has been issued for this problem, but the recall is region specific. I do not live in the regions listed in recall.

Ford motor company has an issue with their 2024 Ford Mustang convertibles, where condensation forms in the footwell ducts during air conditioner operation. As condensation accumulates, water drips onto the driver's foot and potentially the gas and/or brake pedal, creating a risk of driver error. This issue has been known since the vehicle's delivery nearly two years ago. Ford has acknowledged the problem but has not provided a resolution, stating that this occurrence is "expected. " some additional drivers are also experiencing this: [xxx] [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Hi, I was driving on the freeway and suddenly my car stopped accelerating. I would push the acceleration pedal but it wouldnt speed up. And for a few times it would speed up very much. This was very rapid fluctuation. I also noticed that the cruise control was not working. This was very scary being on the highway with this kind of speed fluctuation. After I came back home, I noticed that the brake light wouldnt turn off at all. After doing some research I found that the brake light switch broke and the car was sensing that the brake was being applied and hence was doing acceleration fluctuations. I also found out that there are many other same vehicles which has the same issue.
I ran into the existing issue described in "part 573 safety recall report" NHTSA recall number 22v-011, but in a state not listed under the recall (vehicle purchased used in pennsylvania in 2017). As a result of this part failing, my brake lights remained engaged permanently, and the car's engine power would increase and decrease rapidly (presumably because it thought I kept hitting the breaks). At time of writing I still have the broken pieces of the original part. I plan to take the vehicle into service within the week. There are no warning lights when this occurs since everything I'm the car is technically "operating correctly" - it just thinks the breaks are engaged constantly, and so has erratic behavior. The original recall lists high humidity as a cause, which pennsylvania definitely has. I keep my vehicle outside 24/7, so it has definitely been part of many temperature swings.
Third tail light and rear tail lights remained illuminated after the car was turned off. Driver discovered the brake light switch (rubber/plastic piece) had crumbled into the floor board preventing the tail lights from turning off, thus, becoming a hazard to other motorists on the road as the tail lights remained illuminated even while driving. While the vehicle was being driven, the driver could not accelerate to the appropriate speeds as the car was "thinking" the brakes were being applied and could only approximately drive at 40-50 mph. The vehicle has been inspected and the above information was confirmed as the issue. No other warnings/messages occurred prior to the piece breaking.
Recently started having erratic shifting issues. Will downshift randomly out of nowhere while driving. Sometimes will just be stuck in 1st gear and won’t go anywhere until I pull over and shut off/start up again. Dangerous because I never know when it will do it. Might seem like everything is fine and then all of a sudden, it downshifts and loses power. Rpm’s rise but car has no power. Have to figure out how to get out of the way. As stated in Ford’s “ customer satisfaction program 16n02,” my 2012 has all the symptoms and I have dtc code p0731 but dealer refused to service my vehicle because it doesn’t show up with my VIN, even though it’s a 2012 and I clearly need my molded leadframe replaced.
While attempting to accelerate at an intersection, the vehicle lurched forward. The gas peddle stopped working completely, leaving my vehicle stranded in the middle of the intersection with traffic coming from both directions. The engine was not revving when the gas peddle was being pushed. After repeatedly slamming on the gas peddle, the vehicle quickly accelerated forward, fishtailed, and sent me into oncoming traffic, very narrowly avoiding an accident.

The clutch/flywheel/ and or other components of the drive train/engine/transmission connection are faulty and are known to fail for the 2007-2009 shelby Ford Mustang gt 500 as documented in the numerous Ford technical service bullitens (TSB). This vehicle is available for inspection upon request. Late this summer (2023), I was driving this vehicle with my kids in the car and attempting to merge on the entry ramp for the expressway. I experienced a sudden loss of acceleration and the rpms immediately "redlined". I had to pull over to the shoulder of the expressway so I would not be rear-ended. I researched this issue and found hundreds of posts on Mustang forums documenting this known issue and the TSB issued by Ford. I have reached out to Ford directly and had my vehicle inspected at a Ford dealership. The Ford dealership indicated the issues were consistent with the known defective parts. There were zero warnings either by warning lights or symptoms and I am just fortunate to have been in an accident with my children. I only have approximately 27,000 miles on this vehicle and it is not modified in any way. I have the dealership documentation as well that I can email at a later date. I unfortunately do not have it in electronic format at this time.

The plastic break switch pad broke when I was driving on the highway. I lost engine power and rpms were erratic. Brake lights would not turn off even when brakes were not applied. I could not excellorate normally or maintain speed. Upon examination the pad was brittle and yellowing. There is already a safety recall for this part but only in certain states that does not include arizona.
While driving the car goes into limp mode randomly causing the rpm’s to fall. There is no power to get off the road safely and has almost caused an accident numerous times. I have had diagnostics ran and the mechanic has no clue what’s causing this. Ford forums are full of these Mustangs doing this. It is a huge safely risk!!!!.

On June 18, 2023, my throttle unexpectedly stuck open after intentional acceleration, causing the car to continue to accelerate uncontrollably after releasing the accelerator pedal. The engine continued to increase rpms and speed. After using all of my leg strength to apply the brakes to fight the uncontrolled acceleration, the throttle unexpectedly eased up and returned to normal. This was the most frightening instance. On two other occasions, I noticed similar uncontrolled acceleration that seemed to correct itself immediately after shifting, where the tachometer approached 5k rpms. I have not had the vehicle inspected, and there were no warning lamps, or other symptoms prior to this failure.
Vehicle suddenly downshifted on it's own from highway speed and set several malfunction indicator lamps, nearly caused a highway speed collision. Checked codes afterwards and p1500 vehicle speed sensor malfunction code was present, this is a known issue with this type and make of vehicle but this vehicle has somehow been omitted from a safety recall.
I have a 2013 Ford Mustang v6 coupe with automatic transmission. I purchased the car certified pre owned through ken grody Ford in carlsbad, CA with less then ~11,000 miles on it in 2/2014. I have been complaining of a jerk/ knock at ~ 1-1. 6 rpm’s when idling & driving in stop and go traffic/ off ramps/ on ramps and parking lots - it appears to come from the transmission area. Fast forward to complaining over the years during service intervals ~ 2x a year for for the works service - oil/ lube/ etc , dealer did a transmission control module computer reset & advised to monitor for symptoms in 11/2020. As covid was present, the car wasn’t driven much during. However the knock/ jerk between 1-1. 6 rpm’s has always been present, even returning after the tcm reset. Dealership was notified, and neglected to return calls or follow up. Fast forward to 9/15/2022, after 3-4 wks of calling and leaving voicemails to no avail from the dealership service department manager/ dealership. I set up an appointment for 9/15/2022. On 9/5 & night of 9/14/22, the car instrument cluster lighted up with all notifications, and dashes for the total mileage on the car, orange wrench light - indicating Ford limp mode, and low fuel popup (car was just fuels 1 hr prior to driving from costco for grocery) I left and drove up a hill when this occurred as I was going 40-45 miles per hour the speedometer dropped to 0 mph & the car barely drove beyond 5-15 mph. I pulled over at the nearest local street from the hill parked the car and powered off the engine. I had a obdii tool that indicates: global obd Ford. P0720(1 / 1) output shaft speed sensor circuit. Severity 2 of 3. I finally heard back from dealer after calling & escalating between 9/15-9/19, once I got ahold of the customer relations managers assistant she said the service manager/ customer relations manager would call back by today 9/20/22. The service mgr states I am out of wtty & need to cover cost of repair myself. TSB for trans. Is attac.
The performance of the car is impacted by the following: service advance trac steering assist fault service required hill start assist not available. As a result, the vehicle drivetrain aggressively responds with drop in rpm and steering wheel gets tight; to a point the car is hard to navigate.

The contact owns a 2015 Ford Mustang. The contact stated that the vehicle was repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 22v011000 (service brakes, hydraulic); however, while driving with the cruise control activated, the brake pedal was depressed but instead the vehicle accelerated and failed to stop as needed. The contact stated that an excessive amount of pressure was needed to depress the brake pedal while stopping the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure only occurred while the cruise control was activated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and the mechanic was also able to duplicate the failure. The dealer diagnosed that the cruise control had malfunctioned and caused the brakes to not operate as needed to deactivate the cruise control. The dealer replaced the cruise control switch; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 54,000.
Rubber stopper on brake sensor dry rotted and broke off. This caused the car to think I was applying the brakes when I wasn’t. It would cut the throttle while trying to maintain speed and my brake lights were always on even though I wasn’t touching the brakes or in the car for that matter.
While driving home just as I was switching lanes, the car sputtered badly and a wrench light appeared on dash. Since then, the car did not exceed 20 miles per hour. As I conducted research, a lot of Mustangs have this issue and it is theorized to be the throttle body.

Speedometer went down to zero going 55mph. Car thought it was going 0 mph, which causes transmission to go into first gear . Car reved awfully and had almost caused an accident both times this has happened to me. Scanned the codes and it gives me p0722, common problem with these exact year Mustangs and many other vehicles. Dealership denied my warranty to replace molded lead frame in transmission which causes this issue. This has already been a warranty extension and recall on many of these exact same cars and I do not know why mine doesn’t qualify. This is a huge safety issue and I’m left to fend for myself according to Ford even though it is their products fault.
While driving home on the freeway, the weld where the clutch pedal joins the pedal assembly failed. This gave the pedal excessive lateral play and created a situation where I was intermittently unable to disengage the clutch and change gears due to the pedal binding or obstruction along its travel.
Traveling on highway using cruise control at posted speed limit. Approached slowdown due to accident and applied brakes. Accelerated to limit (manually) after passing accident. I was in middle lane. Vehicle abruptly began to decelerate. Continuous pressure on gas pedal did not increase speed, so I put on hazards and moved to slow lane. No failures on dashboard and quick scan through gages did not identify an issue. Re-applied pressure to gas pedal wanting to get to next exit. Car sped up, but when approaching 50 mph, it decreased again. Found that pumping gas would allow me to maintain highway speed. Pulled into truck stop at exit and turned car off. Message on console "hill start assist not available". Let vehicle rest 15 minutes, added gas. Quick web search seemed to point to problem with abs sensor. Seemed to drive ok in parking lot and road leading to highway ramp. Decided to try to get closer to home. Problem occurs immediately after climbing to 50 mph. Cruise control won't work. By carefully monitoring speed and pumping gas into overdrive when needed, I was able to get home. Could not get appointment with dealership until late afternoon next day. Hill start assist message comes on again when stopping. After arriving home and parking in garage I went inside for about 30 minutes. Needed to unload items from car and went back to garage noticing that the strip of lights above trunk are still on. Got back in car, started it (got hill assist message), turned lights on/off and turned off car. Now my rear brake lights are also on. I had seen a post about this, so unhooked battery to prevent drain. Next morning, reattached battery and had same problem. After more internet investigation, awesome humans who have also had this dangerous issue and provided a $5 fix instead of a $500+ dealership fix. . Read more...
While driving and pressing on accelerator pedal car slows down without pressing the gas as if the car is about to turn off. This is a very dangerous hazard as I am in the middle of a highway which can cause an accident if it does turn ofd. I noticed that the brake lights are on 24 hours a day whether the vehicle is off or on , this could be the issue, something is either jammed in the engine system or the brakes sensors are messed up and are not telling the rest of the car that the car is on and moving. There is no messages that are telling me inside the Mustang that something is wrong with my car . I have had my car 6 years and this is the first time I see this happening.
A non-conductive pad is installed between the brake sensor switch and brake arm. The pad becomes brittle over time and breaks allowing the brake sensor to engage. This causes the car to go into limp mode which can occur while driving on highways. This is a safety issue since it occurs randomly and can happen at high speeds.
My battery died and required a jump the next morning. When I began driving, the car was throttling down as I was attempting to accelerate as if the engine was losing power. I didn't feel safe driving so I returned home and notice that my rear lights including the brake light stayed illuminated even when the car was off. I had to disconnect the battery in order to save my battery from draining again. After some investigating I found the brake switch pad was broken and this is what was causing the brake lights to be on all the time and causing the lack of engine power. This issue was not allowing the car to accelerate because the throttle is over-ridden by the brakes. The car was thinking the brake pedal was being pushed at the same time as the gas pedal. The brake switch pad breaking and causing this problem is very dangerous. I'm so lucky it happened on a local road and not the highway. I've read multiple accounts of this happening to other people. Ford needs to issue a recall and get this fixed to avoid major accidents.
There's a chronic hesitation when you push the accelerator from a yield/merge type situation at low-speed. It's not every time but many times. Today I was going around a car that was sitting in the road with it's flashers on (ie double parked) and there was a car in the other lane on the 2-lane one-way street and I stepped on the peddle to accelerate slightly and it totally choked and I thought I was going to get hit in the rear and then it kicked in. I noted this way back when I bought it and at that time I thought it had something to do with the gearing which it still could. I told service about the issue and I even took them for a drive but of course that time it didn't happen. I've tried over years to id the problem more but while I can see somewhat of a pattern it's not guaranteed. Although one of the most likely situations is going up a hill, turning slightly to the right while slowing for a yield sign but not stopping and then pushing the accelerator only to get a hiccup or choke or whatever you want to call it. There are also issues filling the tank because of a lack of enough space for fuel to replace air causing the self-shutoff of the pump to kick-in not filling your tank. I raise this up as this could be some type of pressurization consistency. There's also the aggressive accelerator where you push it a tiny bit and it wants to take off enough to squeal the tires sometimes.
