Engine management system shutdown on highway. Power steering was lost. Had to restart (crank) engine while car was still rolling. Following days, on-board computer would reset randomly (average twice a day) with all the dials swinging to the right (fully clockwise) and the radio/cd switches on & off randomly (3-4 times a day).

All 4 tires "dry rotted" or cracked where sidewall meets tread, bfg rep says not a problem until belt is showing through sidewall, offered "good will" 25% of cost to replace - I'm concerned that tire failure may occur( dot number: tire size: 245/45 17 ).

5 Hydraulic Power Assist Steering System problem of the 1998 Ford Mustang

Failure Date: 09/05/1998

Unable to turn steering wheel in a brake and steer situation. Steering works as expected, until pressure is applied at the same time steering is needed in a panic evasive stop. No accident has occurred. Dealer claims this is normal since all of the vehicles checked do the same. Would like not to have name released do to employment reasons.
