I was driving about 35mph and I let off the gas pedal and noticed the car was gaining speed. I then shifted in to neutral and the motor began to rev to 4k rpms. My throttle had got stuck. I tapped the pedal and got it to stop. Turned around and proceeded to take it home and it happened again this time pushing me through a redlight.

This is in reference to my son's 2005 Ford Taurus. The vehicle accelerates and speeds up automatically resulting in great difficulty controlling and stopping the vehicle. Even when breaking forcefully, the vehicle tries to speed up. Even in park, the engine revs up to high rpm with foot off of accelerator. This results in a very serious safety problem. This first occurred in 2014 and we took the car to a local Ford dealer. They evaluated the car and worked on the actuator assembly. I believe we filed a vehicle safety complaint with NHTSA then. Problem began happening again recently. My son was driving home to kentucky from wisconsin and it began accelerating and speeding up. He was able to get the car stopped off of the road. He was towed by aaa to a service center. They advised that there was some residual clogging and build-up that was causing the throttle to get stuck open. They cleaned out the throttle and sent him on his way. A few hours later, it started to happen again in congested traffic on I-65 in indiana driving at 70 mhp. He was in a panic as traffic was slowing ahead of him and he was struggling to get control of the vehicle or to slow down. Essentially, he was charging at slowed traffic. He was able to maneuver dangerously through the slowed traffic until he got to an exit ramp. He was able to bring the vehicle to a stop by applying the brake with both feet with full force, applying the emergency brake, then quickly putting the engine in park. I drove up to indiana to pick him up. When I started the car, the engine immediately revs up while in park. We had to have the car towed back to louisville. We are very lucky that this did not result in a serious of fatal accident. The car is currently at a local Ford dealership and we have a call in to Ford customer relations. Please re-open an investigation into this issue.

My throttle is stuck. My car accelerates on its own and fights when I try to slow it down or stop. This happens every single time I drive my car whether I am driving slow or fast.
My daughter's 2005 Ford Taurus started to surge with a stuck throttle at various speeds; still hapenning from time to time; we are very worried about this; we can share more details if needed. Jmt.
The contact owns a 2003 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the speed throttle will sporadically become stuck. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed. The dealer stated that the grommet would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacture was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 110,000. The current mileage of the vehicle was 117,000.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Taurus. The contact was driving approximately 20 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated with an unusual increase in engine rpms. The contact applied the brakes forcefully in order to decelerate and maneuvered to the side of the road where the engine was turned off. A certified mechanic inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the throttle became stuck however, after the gear was shifted into neutral, the vehicle began to operate normally. The failure recurred three times. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000.
While driving the throttle got stuck and the car would accelerate itself. After taking my foot off the pedal the car would continue to accelerate and I had to step on the brake very firmly in order to stop. As I let go of the brake the car would jerk forward as if I was holding it back. If I stopped and put the car in neutral the rpms would continue rising as if I was stepping on the gas. After putting it back into drive the car would jerk or jump forward. After putting the car in park and turning it off the problem was usually solved. This occurs frequently though and usually happens at least once a week. It hasn't led to an accident but it is very dangerous.
Went to slow car to park car kept accelerating higher and higher stopping on brake didn't help as well as in park turned off car still accelerates up to 3000-4000 thank god I was at home and not on the road with my kids possible throttle stuck taking in ASAP.
Throttle stuck open for a distance of over 9. 4 miles. After turning the car off, and back on multiple times, the issue persisted. Car would steadily accelerate unless brake was depressed. If put in neutral, the vehicle rpm's would spike to about 4000. Was finally able to regain speed control by quickly depressing the gas pedal fully to the floor and then releasing it. After doing so, the car returned to regular idle and function.
This incident first happened while I was pulling into a parking spot and since many times. The car gets stuck in full throttle and sometimes impossible to stop I have to throw into neutral to keep from slamming into vehicles, it has torn up my new brake pads that I put on in the fall. It will be fine for a period of time then all of sudden out of no where the car will get stuck in full throttle. I have been told by a Ford mechanic that this is a common issue.
The throttle on my car has gotten stuck on me on five different times. The first time I was coming to a red light and the cad ar speeded up to fifty miles an hour. I had to pull to the side of the road and shut the car off. I started the car and the throttle was still stuck in park. I had to wait fifteen minutes before it stopped. It has gotten stuck on the open highway also.

the contact's wife pulled up to the back door of her home and exited her vehicle. Upon reentering the vehicle a few minutes later, the vehicle reversed a few feet. Then shifting into drive and put her foot on accelerator the car immediately surged forward, resulting in the car landing in a ditch. She suffered some minor bruising of her leg. I was driving my car when the pedal suddenly stuck. I tried to stop the car but it was difficult, so I shifted into neutral. My throttle was stuck open at 4,000 rpms. I managed to get the car to idle normal after slamming on the gas pedal repeatedly. I assumed the throttle body was the cause of my problems, so I had my mechanic clean it out for me, but the problem is still there. It happens randomly, and the only way I have found stops the issue is shifting to neutral and slamming on the gas pedal. I have also noticed it acts up more when it is hot outside.
The contact owns a 2005 Ford Taurus. The contact was driving 40 mph when the brakes were applied. The vehicle then abnormally accelerated and the engine displayed an unusual increase in rpms. The shifted into neutral and turned the vehicle off. Once the vehicle was restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation until the accelerator pedal was engaged and the pedal became stuck in the open throttle position. The vehicle continued to accelerate and the contact attempted to dislodge the pedal. The vehicle was taken for inspection where the contact was awaiting a diagnosis of the failure and possible repairs. The VIN was unavailable. The failure and current mileage was 62,000. Updated 05/05/lj.
The contact owns a 2006 Ford Taurus. While driving 55 mph the vehicle began to accelerate without intention. She had to turn off the engine to stop the vehicle. She contacted the dealer, and a technician speculated that the throttle became stuck. She was then advised to bring the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle has not been inspected. The failure mileage was 83,000.
Intermittently throttle will keep rising and the car will not stop unless shifted to neutral and acceleration pedal pushed to dislodge stuck throttle. Brakes will not stop throttle from rising unless steps above followed. First time this occurred, I had to fight the acceleration with the brakes causing my engine to smell like burnt rubber until I figured out the trick of taping the acceleration pedal when in neutral.
I own a 2001 Ford Taurus sel with 156k miles. I lose control of my vehicle during rush hour commute home. The car accelerated violently on its own as if the throttle was stuck. I nearly slammed into the car in front of me. The acceleration over powered the brakes. I shifted the car into neutral and the engine revved to the point I thought it would blow. I turned the car off and had to be pushed out of a dangerous/busy location. What scares me the most is that I shared this vehicle with a 16 year old daughter.
