The motor cradle in my mother-in-law's 1996 Taurus rusted through and broke as she was making a turn. This caused the motor to partially drop making steering almost impossible. I did some research and found that there was a recall for this problem for the 1995 Taurus in Dec. Of 1998. My question is if this problem was not discovered until 1998 then why would the 1996 Taurus not be included in this recall? I would like to see credible documentation that Ford substantially fixed a problem with the motor cradles in the 1996 Taurus two years before they knew there was a problem prompting the 1998 recall. Short of that, I would like NHTSA to explain why this problem should not be fixed by Ford.

I have a 2005 Ford Taurus. Whenever there is moderate to heavy rainfall, water leaks into the passenger side under the dash, soaking the floor and the blower motor will not work. While driving the windshield fogs over and I cannot get the blower to turn on, causing visibility issues while driving on the road. This is happening to a lot of people, this should be investigated and a recall issued.

Hello, I own a 2001 Ford Taurus and ever since the beginning of this summer, I have noticed that the driver's side floor board is constantly damp. I don't know if this dampness is coming from when it rains outside or if it has something to do with the a/c drainage hose being clogged. Either way, I find this as a safety concern as major cords are underneath the carpeting and I feel unsafe knowing that water is collecting underneath the carpeting, making those cords wet, which could spark an electrical fire. I really would feel much safer getting this problem fixed but I have no idea where to begin. I truly believe this is a safety concern and would really like to get it fixed, if only I knew where to begin. Thanks for your help with this matter.

I purchased a used 2002 Ford Taurus two years ago. About 4 weeks ago, I was driving down of a driveway at work and heard a loud popping noise. I ended up having the car towed to a mechanic and he found both front springs broken and two shredded tires. Both of the springs were broken in exactly the same place. He had never seen anything like this. The cost of the repairs was $600. $400. 00 for the two springs and $200. 00 for the two tires. Luckily I was driving at a very slow speed when this happened and not doing 70 mph on an interstate highway. I have read dozens of consumer complaints online about the same thing happening to other owners of 2002 Taurus's but Ford has not done a recall yet. I am requesting that a recall be made and the cost of repairs be reimbursed to the owners of the cars. The recall should include the rear springs, too, as many owners have had the rear springs break also.

My family owns a 1998 Ford Taurus se which has been unable to pass inspection due to severe rust on the sub-frame where the k-member bolts to the car, as well as complete rust out under factory installed plastic rocker panel shields. We have been told by our mechanic that the engine k-member could fail during driving conditions if the vehicle were driven through another pennsylvania winter.

Have a 2002 Ford Taurus ses. Water leaking onto floor on passenger side, noticeable when it is raining. Two weeks later, my heater/ac will not turn on. I turn the switch on and get absolutely nothing.
When it rains I get puddles of water on passenger side floorboard. After several times of this happening, the blower motor has rusted out. Water appears to be coming down the windshield into the cabin filter area and then dripping through under the passenger side dash area.

I have a 2003 Ford Taurus and every time it's setting out in a moderate to heavy rain the right front floorboard gets saturated with water. I've had to replace the blower resistor twice and the blower motor once and the motor in it now is going out. Why isn't Ford being held responsible for the repairs and costs affiliated with this manufacturing defect and the costs incurred on those of us unfortunate enough to have purchased one of them? due to this issue I nearly had an accident on 03/08/10 when my windshield fogged during a rainstorm and I lost almost all visibility. If I hadn't known the area very well plus 25 years of law enforcement driving I very well could have been seriously injured or killed. Nhtsa needs to act on this ASAP before someone is killed. My name is [xxx] and I can be contacted at [xxx], in mesa, arizona. My car is usually under cover and it flooded with water also in Feb. 2009 &Feb. 2010, when it was standing out in the rain, not being operated but just out in the rain.
