Trunk Lid Problems of Ford Taurus

At least three (3) times when I have been loading my trunk, iv had the trunk lid come down on me unexpectedly. I was in the staples parking lot last night around 8:00 pm in burlington MA, I was loaded in my new printer which I had bought at staples, when suddenly without warning the trunk lid let go and came down on me and conked me on the head hard. Temporarily after the direct head hit, I felt dizzy for a minute, and I could taste blood temporarily for several hours afterward. I feel ok now. This also is not the first time this has happened on my 2013 Ford Taurus. I feel as if this is a safety hazard when loading and unloading the vehicle's trunk. The lid is held up by a strut system similar to that of the hood. The trunk lid hold open often quits after it is fully open and in the upright position. I feel that this is dangerous, there should be an investigation and a recall on Ford Taurus trunks. This has serious potential for a concussion, internal bleeding, serious injury etc.

Was riding in back seat of this car when it was rear ended by a 2014 Jeep cherokee. Taurus was stopped on highway, and hit squarely from behind. Both back seat drivers were severely bruised in lower back by latch bracket. The impact was not extreme. No air bags were deployed. I'd hate to be in back of that car if hit at full speed. It would seem likely that that bracket would produce severe lower back/tailbone injuries in a maximum speed rear impact. Of second note, I'm a mechanical engineer, I noted that the failure of the rear bumper frame tube was very brittle in its failure mode. I'd have thought the metal would have stretched and given more. It simply fractured at the brackets to the frame and snapped in half in the middle, allowing the trunk lid and fenders to take the brunt of the impact.

Hydraulic lift supports suddenly failed when lifting the trunk lid one day in July 2016. Car has 116,000 miles, purchased new. Took to original dealer who said he would install if I could find some. Parts are sold out at every auto parts store I can find, and also sold out at the vendors for the auto parts stores. If there are none to be found, is this a problem?.

A right side license plate light burned out. There is a left lamp, also. I noticed it when I walked around the vehicle for a gasoline refill. There is no dash board prompt for this lamp burn out. When I went to replace the lamp a couple days later, I noticed rust spots between a plastic trim piece and the trunk lid. I monitor the license lamps now. I have not had a license lamp burn out until I noticed the rust on the metal panel. I question the coincidence of the lamp burn out and the rust. A possible short.

I was driving my vehicle and heard a click. I hadn't pushed any buttons and didn't think much of it. A minute later I looked in the rearview mirror and saw the trunk had opened on its own.

I have a 2002 Ford Taurus. When there is heavy rain water comes into the trunk. It seems to puddle in the deck lid cover and when I open the trunk lid, water comes down one of the two hinges and pours into the trunk. Dealer has tried to fix the problem by realigning the trunk lid and by replacing the weather strip.

This is an se model with a factory installed spoiler on the trunk. The springs are not strong enough to hold the trunk lid in it's fully open position. This has hit myself and members of my family several times. How long before one of my kids get seriously hurt getting something from the trunk!! the dealer says it is because of the added weight of the factory installed spoiler. They say they can not fix the problem. This is nonsense. The service report stated that no problem was found!!.

The trunk has a spoiler on it and it does not stay up when lifted. The trunk had fallen on the owner numerous times. Dealer sau\ys that it is normal and cannot be fixed.

While rear trunk lid was up it became inoperative/ falling down and striking owner. Possible cause defective torsion bar, manufacturer's defect.
