Tire Problems of Ford Taurus - part 1

On sept 23, 2015 we purchased a set of definity tires from pep boys. We were told they were made by cooper tires. We tried to register the tires in order to get a recall notice and they are unable to be registered as they were made in taiwan. We have contacted pep boys and they will not change the tires for american made ones. They said that they have the information to let us know if there is a recall and that we do not need to register the tires. We think this is wrong and fraudulent. Please advise us as to what to do. They claim they are in compliance with federal law which we think is wrong.

2 months ago advised by walmart that tires were dry rotting. 3 weeks ago took car in to mechanic and was advised tire was separating and that all 4 tires needed replacing due to age and dry rot. Went back to sam's club because I still had about 40% left on my warranty. They only would cover the one separating and refused to do anything about the other 3 tires. Today, driving down the freeway, the tread peeled off the tire damaging my car but luckily no accident. Also found out the tire was manufactured over one year before I purchased it. Please crack down on retailers selling old tires and not honoring warrantes and telling people to drive on dangerous tires. I have pictures of the tire.

On Tuesday, January 27th about 1:00pm, while driving on the interstate, the rear passenger tire exploded and was completely flat. I drove to a nearby by gas station to await my motor service to replace the tire. I photographed the damaged tire. On Tuesday, January 27h, goodyear replaced the tire and stated aging was a factor in the tire failure. The tires were serviced by the same goodyear store on Friday January 23rd and no mention of aging or replacing the tires was stated by goodyear. I still have to replace three (3) of the tires on my vehicle.

On Jan. 10 2014 I purchased 2 new tires from les swab here in oroville CA. In oct. 2015 I noticed a wobble in my steering, took the car back to where I purchased the tires and ask them to rotate the tires and check for defects. Was told tires were ok but the problem persisted, went to a local repair shop and was told I had a tire bad tire separation, went back to les swab and they replaced the defective tire. Today the local repair shop advised me I had another tire separation and would have to be replaced. It is evident to me they are selling defective tires that should be recalled before someone gets killed.

Excessive tire wear, tread separation, poor handling, vibration.

I was driving on an interstate highway in the left lane. Traffic caused me to brake hard and turn the wheel slightly to avoid collision. Moments later, I get a low tire presssure warning. When I exit to a gas station, the tire has become completely flat and is off the rim. It is the front passenger side tire. The tire that received the most force from braking. It appears the force caused a break in the seal with the rim. Subsequently the tire and possibly the rim were damaged. The car is a 2011 Taurus sho with 700 miles on it. The dealership is already taking the position that this scenario could not happen unless the tire was already low on pressure such as from a puncture. I am stating the tire was not low on pressure before the braking incident. There was no low pressure indication until immediately after the braking incident.

2009 Ford Taurus. Consumer writes in regards to seeking reimbursement for a defective tire.

Tires on my 2003 Ford Taurus's wore down to steel belts with rubber separating from belts causing tire replacement under (2) 20,000 / (2) 28000 miles. Called Ford's hq cs an received a letter 01/27/2012 from hq cs was told by Ford motor cs to take the letter sent to me to a dealer. Showed the letter from Ford motor hq cs to local dealer but was told we do not cover defected tires after they called an yelled at the cs rep. In front of me from Ford's hq at which time I said but the letter ask the dealer to honor my reimbursement for parts & service complaint. The dealer's service manager firmly ask me to leave after bringing to their attention if I was the cs rep. I would not honor it either after being yelled at like. That's when the service manager ask me to leave firmly so I honor his request an left. Also, my 2006 Ford Taurus had wear issues. Sincerely, a very dissatisfied customer.

My 2011 Taurus sho has 20 inch rims and an all-wheel drive system, but only after 20,000 I have to change my tires because they wear off in the inside corners on all four tires. It is like if the wheels are slightly slanted andthey wear off only on that area. Ford has knowledge of this situation and have made me take the car for alignment, tire pressure and tire rotation every 3,000 miles, but this has not helped at all. The car has had 4 set of tires in the last 54,000 and they insist it is not caused because of car deffects. If I am not constantly checking the tires because I fear that I am going to get aflat or could explode in the middle of the highway and cause an accident. Pelase help me. I have tried everything possible with them and I am in the process of filing a complaint against them, but anything that you can do will be deeply appreciated.

Toyo versado lx for 2003 Ford Taurus. I bought these tires and have had nothing but problems since I had them installed. The shake started off slight, and over time has progressesed to dangerous levels where I can no longer drive the car. I have taken the car to 5 different front end shops searching for what I thought was a problem with my car. The fourth finally pin pointed the tires. I went back to where I purchased the tires, and neither the shop or toyo want to do anything to fix the safety problem with my car. The shake is now so extensive I can not drive the car due to fear of damaging the stearing or suspsension components. Each time I have been in, a road force balance is performed, but does not completely remidy the problem. Even the so call front end "expert" said it was the tires. The car can not be driven until I save enough money to buy new tires.

2009 Ford Taurus wrong tire.

I purchased 4 uniroyal long touring p215/60r16 tires from wal-mart. At 5,000 miles I had the tires rotated at wal-mart. After rotating the tires, the next day there was a tremendous vibration while driving. Wal-mart says there are flat spots in the tire tread on all four tires and this was caused by alignment and suspension. Wal-mart manager said to have alignment and suspension checked and then they would replace warranteed tires. Alignment and suspension checked and found to be in order. Wal-mart manager refuses to change tire. Three tire shops have said the problem is a manufacture defect in tires, not alignment or suspension. I also learned wal-mart placed three different d. O. T. Number tires on my car. D. O. T. Numbers y9xbvnuu1509/ 2809 and (2) 2909.

Front tires purchased at walmart p215 60 16 douglas xtratrac. With less than 10000 miles started shaking and vibrating in curves and to a stop, vibrates very bad at 65 miles per hour. I had walmart look at them for a broken belt. They balanced them and said that was the problem. I drove the car home ,the problem was worse. I gave a two week trial they just got worse. I went back to them and they said there was no problem. Not being able to drive the car in this condition I had to purchase two new tires,(not douglas) I now have uniroyals, the problem is gone. I have the old tires, I want to have them looked at by someone but don't know where to take them. If of government has control over this type of thing why don't we have a place to go to for help. And I am talking about a building with people in it. So I can show them these tires. Or are these people producing these products protected by the ronald reagan act?.

I own a 2008 Ford Taurus x which has a major problem with the tires. If the tires get low or if the tread gets below a certain amount the car will suddenly come to a complete stop-sometimes in the middle of making a turn. It feels like the front tires are snowplowing (pigeon toe) and the car will not move. It will resume after a few seconds but unfortunately I have had it happen while I was pulling out into traffic.

Our front left tire literally exploded while driving on the freeway at approximately 70 miles per hour. It looks like a bomb had exploded inside it. We have never had this happen before - this type of catastrophic failure in a tire. The company is continental and the tire size is p215. 60r16 94t (for a mid size car) and on the lower side it has touring contact as. This is a brand that we have never purchased before - it was on the car when purchased as a used car (1 year old). We thank god this did not result in a terrible accident, considering the speed and location it happened. While driving approximately 55 mph the vehicle started pulling to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection. The technician stated that the front driver or front passenger tire was damaged. The failure mileage was 90,000. The current mileage was 100,005.

Normal driving conditions, tires failed to hold air pressure. Both front tires within one month of each other failed. Tires appeared to be dry rotted on corner of side walls. The dealer stated that all four tires were worn. The contact discovered that the tire pressure in each tire was low by one pound. The current and failure mileages were 22,000. Updated 02/01/08.

The contact owns a 2007 Ford Taurus. After 4,000 miles, the front tires were worn. The dealer replaced the tires for free. At approximately 12,000 miles, the rear tires began to wear out. The dealer no longer covered the tires and the contact had them replaced at wal mart. At 60,000 miles, all four tires needed to be replaced again. He believes that the tires are not the issue, but rather the failure lies within the vehicle itself. He took the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that nothing was wrong. He believes that his vehicle is a lemon. The failure mileage was 4,000 and current mileage was 64,000.

Backing out of garage heard loud leak of air. Thought flat tire. When about to change tire discovered coil broke and slashed tire. Thank god didn't happen a couple weeks before when son borrowed car and was driving on highway out of state. Of course no recall on these coils so had to pay out of pocket cor 2 new rear coil springs and labor to install. Checked on internet and read hundreds of posts on this problem with the Taurus. Why not a recall on this year??.

On April 23, 2005 at approximately 2100 hours on interstate 59 south in rural alabama my daughter experienced a tire malfunction in my Ford Taurus. The tire’s tread totally disintegrated causing extensive body damage to the vehicle (approx. $1800). My own personal investigation of the incident site and tire along with the statements of the wrecker driver and body shop representative show that the tire was obviously defective. The damage to the tire is eerily similar to the defective SUV tires recalled by firestone a few years ago. I am in the process of contacting the tire manufacturer to inform them of this problem and to seek reimbursement for the towing and repairs. Vehicle tires were dry rotted. The tires only had 30000 miles on them. The consumer replaced the tires. The consumer had new struts installed along with having the tires rotated. The technician informed the consumer that the tires were dry rotted.

I bought what I thought were 4 brand new goodyear aquatred tires from graham tire here in grand island, nebraska. . . I got 3 tires dot. . . Serial number. . . . Mkx83mhr2901 and 1 tire dot. . . Serial number. . . . Mkx83mhr2402 the 2402 tire runs hot, and in my opinion is unsafe. I see the dot. . . Mkx code is for re tire kershaw, south carolina. . . And its listed under re-treads. Was I sold four re-tread tires. . . . As four new tires? if so I have been cheated. Please reply. . . Thank you.

Left front tire, on firestone affinity 206016, blew out while driving. If I was driving at a faster speed would have cause a lot of damage.
