I turned into my driveway today in my 2001 Ford Windstar and the rear axle snapped in half. The roadway-to-driveway transition is smooth. I wasn't hauling or towing anything. No injuries or property damage. I haven't had it repaired yet and there may be other damages to the vehicle such as the tire and the wheel bearing.

It has an electrical problem. Needs wiring harness, needs front and real axle replacement. Dangerous. Alarm goes off at random. Won't hold charge. Steering wheel bearings are shot.

My wife told me she heard a rubbing sound in the rear of her 2002 Ford Windstar. I quickly noticed the left rear wheel was tilted in from the top. Figuring it was a worn wheel bearing or broken control arm, I jacked it up, pulled the wheel and noticed the axle was almost completely broken about 8 inches left of center.
