I purchased four new michelin hydroedge tires for my wife's car in February 2005. Bgod haex 2004 215/65/r1698t. Two have blown, literally, apart on her Ford Windstar 2004 minivan - sel model. I have returned them to costco and they have replaced all four with a lesser michelin tire. Tires were filled w/ nitrogen. Both blowouts were in the "heat of the day. " no deaths or accident, but second blow up occurred at 65 miles per hour.

Blow out of good year integrity tire. Consumer experienced two blow outs with goodyear tires. Consumer didn't know who to blame for the blow outs, goodyear or Ford for equipping a van with a one ply polyester cord in the sidewall.
At freeway speed we heard a loud bang, and the vehicle lifted up suddenly in the rear, followed by a loud slapping sound. I was able to keep control and get to the side of the road. The tire tread had completely separated from the tire. There is no evidence of puncture marks or other damage to the tire. When we got this vehicle from the dealership, I noticed "bulges" in the sidewalls of these tires and asked the dealer and was told this was normal. General should be forced to recall all these tires. Many were put on Windstar minivans and this was a very violent separation that could have resulted in a major accident if someone with less experience was driving, or road conditions were wet or slippery! (dot number: a3m3 tiresize: p215/70r15).
All four of these general ameri gs60 genseal tires were in dangerous condition, as certified by two tire dealers, after less than 16,000 miles. The tires had been maintained with proper inflation and rotation throughout their life but both dealers said all four showed dangerous rot on sidewalls and signs of tread separation. General offered to replace all four at no cost but would offer only the same tires as replacement which I declined. I had brought the tires to dealers to have them rebalanced after the vehicle began to shake at speeds of about 75 mph. I declined general's offer because I did not want the same tires back on the vehicle after all four had failed. I believe Ford was negligent in failing to record key facts about the failure of these tires despite my attempts to offer the information on their customer service line. Ford never asked for or accepted information about the tire models that had failed or any other information. They simply referred me to general. The tires were oem equipment when I bought the car. (tiresize: 215-70-r15).
General ameri 6560 tire p215/70r15 experienced sidewall separation while driving on interstate.
I have experianced "rapid depressurization" of the lr tire on my Mini-van causing the vehicle to cross the centerline . I was able to return to the right side of the highway avoiding an accident. After I came to a stop there was a hole in the sidewall 11/2 in. Wide by 3" high. These tires have not been abused, always properly inflated, not overloaded and properly rotated and inspected. The cause (per goodyear dealer) was ply seperation where the tread meets the sidewall. ( dot number: tire size: p235-70r15 ).
