I purchased a used certified 2014 Acadia 4 months ago. Since the second week of having it the truck shuts off for no reason. Happens when driving at a slow rate. Examples are pulling out of driveway, after being stopped at a stop sign, driving through a parking lot, going up or down an incline. The truck stutters and either shuts off or catches itself. I have brought it to the dealership more than 3 times and it's never fixed. My VIN is not listed in the stalling or ignition switch recall. It started intermittently but now it's everyday although dealership says they can't duplicate what I'm describing. It has stopped at a stop light and I had to hurry up and hit the hazard lights so I had time to put it in park and restart the engine. However as long as I'm driving on the freeway it's fine. Just when I'm going less than 35 mph.

When the ignition switch was turned on, the car started, but rather than return to the "on" position, the switch returned to the "off" position and the motor turned off. This has happened numerous times, but only one time when the vehicle was actually in motion.
2011 GMC Acadia. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle ignition switch issues. The consumer stated the ignition shut off, as her father was driving. Ignition switch -- we bought our 2010 GMC Acadia from the fort worth federal community credit union in 2012. Sometime in September 2013 we were on I-35w freeway driving from fort worth, texas to oklahoma. The speed was between 65-68 mph. Suddenly, the Acadia lost all power. I yelled “what the hell!!” the rpms dropped drastically and the speedometer went down to the low 20s. I had no power steering. I did not turn off the key. I engaged my emergency flashers. With great strength managed to steer the Acadia unto the emergency shoulder. While the car was coasting the engine cranked up again and speed increased to normal. I told my wife that maybe the engine “vapor” locked. We discussed returning to fort worth but decided to continue thinking it was a “vapor” lock. The Acadia ran well to oklahoma and back home. It did not do it after that on the freeway. We noticed however that when slowing to about 5-10 mph to enter our driveway or other entrances, the power steering became very hard and difficult to control on several occasions. This problem occurred way before we had even heard of “ignition switch” issues. The ignition switch has never been diagnosed as we did not think it was a problem at the time. Had my wife been driving by herself, she would have paniced if she lost power on the freeway and was unable to control the vehicle to guide it out of traffic into a safe area from the heavily traffic freeway. Will my car be in the recall for ignition switch. .
