The GMC passlock lockout feature is a pain in the rear of nearly every car/truck owner having this feature. Today, for the umpteenth time, my vehicle would not start when I tried to start it up after fueling. My truck was stuck at the gas pumps, obstructing other patrons waiting to gas up. I sat waiting for about 5 minutes and tried starting it again, while getting dirty looks from other people waiting to gas up. Of, course it didn't start because I hadn't waited the requisite 10 minutes. Finally, I got out and pushed the truck away from the pumps by myself (I am 72 years old) and then waited 10 minutes and finally re-started my vehicle. I have experienced this aggravation of my vehicle not starting many, many times during the 14 years that I have owned this vehicle. I will never buy another GMC product! GMC should be required to issue a recall and fix this problem once and for all.

For several months now, vehicle will not start. Turn key, no click, no crank, nothing. All standard dash light come on, headlights are bright, all accessory items work fine, just no start. Have taken truck in to dealership twice now for problem, and no resolution. Starts every time for them. Last time took key and paperwork, went out to lot, got in, and no start, went back in to dealership, finally grabbed mechanic, went to truck, but it started ok. May not fail again for a day or more, then fail several times in same day. Failed to start today after pulling into gas station and getting fuel, would not start. Long line of cars behind me and situation got very ugly fast. Station owner/worker helped diffuse situation. If you let vehicle sit for 10-15 minutes between retries, it may start.
Truck was parked & locked. Upon unlocking truck & trying to start it, discovered that vehicle theft deterrent system light was flashing & vehicle would not start. Waited ten minutes & restarted truck. Each time vehicle stopped & parked that day, same thing happened again. After checking internet discovered that this is very common problem for Canyons & colorados!!! two suggestions offered on internet - 1) take to dealer & spend big bucks for new computer chip. 2) once truck running, cut wire to theft deterrent system (be advised vehicle will no longer have a theft deterrent system). Went with option 2. Can't believe this is common vehicle problem & no federal action taken?.
