GMC Envoy owners have reported 3 problems related to brake disc pads (under the service brakes category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 10/31/2005

The contact stated the brake pad wear indicator did not make any noise before the brake pads went to the metal. The vehicle was not taken to the dealership for repairs. As a result, gm told him they could not assist, and advised him to take the vehicle to the local dealership for brake pads inspection. There have been no corrections to the vehicle at this time.

2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2002 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 12/20/2004

I noticed the brakes pulsing badly on my 2002 GMC Envoy at 27,000 miles. The dealership stated that brakes are covered up to 21,000 miles and rotors covered to 24,000. All 4 rotors and brake pads had to be replaced at my expense. I guess that I shouldn't have assumed that a warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles meant that everything was covered. How convenient it is for the warranty coverage on brakes and rotors expires prior to the 3 year 36,000 mile warranty. That tells me that gm knows when the cheaper parts they are using are going to fail. The 3 year 36,000 warranty is very misleading. In my 27 years of driving, I've never seen rotor and brake pad failure at 27,000 miles. Good brake parts are vital in the safety of a vehicle, I don't understand how they are allowed to use inferior materials. Thank god my pregnant wife didn't have and accident while driving this vehicle.

3 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 GMC Envoy

Failure Date: 07/02/2004

After the owner purchased the vehicle the brakes felt bumpy. The owner replaced the front rotors and pads. Then, the back rotors and pads were replaced as well. The vehicle only has 37,000 miles on it. The owner describes them as a grabbing feeling, the vehicle physically moves when the brakes are applied. When the back right rotor was inspected there were grooves. The pad had eaten into the rotor on the rear and front. All the brakes rusted.
