1 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 GMC Savana

Failure Date: 10/11/2010

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Savana 1500. When the contact examined the vehicle, he found that the spare tire cable was corroded. The cable was cut to remove the spare tire. The rear brake metal cover was also corroded causing rotors and brake pads to fail. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop where the rear rotors and brake pads were replaced. 2 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2005 GMC Savana

Failure Date: 05/27/2010

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Savana. While traveling at 20 mph, the contact applied the brakes and the vehicle began to shake and vibrate excessively. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the rear brake pads and rotors where replaced. There were no prior warnings of the failure. The current and failure mileages were 33,000.

All 4 brakes lock up while driving. Brake pads dragging 1 day prior to lock up. Brake pedal goes hard. Extremely dangerous. Told computer error is problem first time. Second time answer pending. Transmission does not engage immediately when shifting from reverse to foreword. Back out of driveway onto public street-lag time, dangerous. Intermittent problem. No resolution from dealer.

Failure Date: 11/19/2004

Consumer had vehicle serviced 8 times. Each time rotors/brakes, and drums were repaired. Mechanic stated the shoes did not fit the drums. . Gm has technical reference dated 09/01/1999 tha thas them putting some part on. Every time they take it in to the shop it comes out with the same resukts. Consumer's deduction was the same as the mechanic, that the part is not sized rightly.

5 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2000 GMC Savana

Failure Date: 02/27/2001

While braking front brakes made noise and vehicle would not stop properly. Upon visual inspection brake pad had separated from backing plate and disintegrated.

6 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2000 GMC Savana

Failure Date: 11/05/2000

Original brakes wore out at 13,000. Brakes were mushy and squealing. Installed new pads and brakes are still squealing. When braking on hill at low speed, hear thump, thump. Had to push pedal down as hard as I could to engage a stop. Afterwards heard a loud metal on metal scratching and cluncking of brakes.

Failure Date: 07/10/1999

The front brake pads had to be replaced 5 times after the mentioned date. 11/13/99 @ 26,920 miles, 12/23/1999 @ 29,524, 3/8/2000 @ 35,692 mi. , 5/2/2000 @ 43,000 mi. , 6/10/2000 @ 47,761 mil, 7/31/2000 @ 51,136mi.

9 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 1996 GMC Savana

Failure Date: 07/01/1997

There is excessive wear on brake pads. Dealer replaced pads, which in turn, caused vehicle to pull to right. Dealer replaced pads again at 29,000 miles, and adjusted alignment and rotated wheels forward. Right after second replacement at 29,000 miles, vehicle would pull to left. At 45,000 miles, there were scraping noises from the brake system - told brake pads wore out. Please provide any additional information/attachments.

10 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 1997 GMC Savana

Failure Date: 05/01/1997

While slowing down vehicle driver felt a pulsation in front steering wheel. Took to dealer, and he changed brake rotors, but not pads. Since then, consumer brought vehicle to dealer 4 more times. Last time was on 01/ 28/99. Picked it up a couple of days later, and it still had pulsation. Consumer indicated that when applying brakes it felt as though vehicle was going to stop.

11 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 2003 GMC Savana

Consumer feels that there is a design flaw in the brake system. This flaw results in excessive brake pad wear. Only the outside brake pads wear. As a result, brake pads need to be continuously replaced.

12 Brake Disc Pads problem of the 1998 GMC Savana

Brakes are pulling to the left. Noise coming from front left disc. Took it to the dealer 3 times. They made it worse, they turned the rear drums and the front disks and replaced pads, now braking distance is significantly increased, car pulls to the left, rear wheels abs don't work.

Brakes and rotors have deteriorated and continue to deteriorate within unreasonably short mileage periods, the brakes smoke during short intervals of driving and stick to rotors causing a loud popping sound when released and fail to adequately stop the vehicle, the rotors begin cracking and warping prematurely causing shimmying and vibration.
