2 Dash Wiring problem of the 2005 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 08/25/2007

The blower motor would work and then not work and when it worked for a long period of time, smoke would come out from under the passenger dashboard. I removed the cardboard cover and saw smoke from the connection to the blower loter and the connection was hot to the touch so I pulled it off from the blower.

3 Dash Wiring problem of the 2004 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 12/10/2005

Speedometer and gauge cluster have worked intermittently for the past few weeks and have now completely failed. I have talked to several other gm truck owners and apparently this an extremely common occurrence. Some of them were lucky enough to have gotten it covered. I see from the complaint search that there are a number of complaints here as well. Gm charges an outrageous amount to fix this issue as it requires complete replacement of the cluster. If a total failure of a cluster including the speedometer isn't a safety hazard, I don't know what is.

Speedometer is stuck at 65 mph & goes up from there so it is impossible to know how fast the vehicle is moving. This is very dangerous. I called GMC about recalls & they said there are none.

9 Dash Wiring problem of the 2000 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 09/01/2000

Power steering pump shaft broke, causing loss of steering and inability to control vehicle. The faulty circuit cluster in the dashboard caused all guages to fail. The vehicle experiences noise in the front end.

10 Dash Wiring problem of the 2000 GMC Sierra

Failure Date: 06/04/2000

When I press on the brake pedals on a sudden stop on bumpy roads at speeds over 30 mph, the brake pedal does not depress. The brake pedal vibrates and the vehicle does not stop properly. It takes the truck a longer time to stop than normal. This almost casued me to rear end cars on more than one ocassion. I had to take my foot of the brake pedal and reapply pressure to get firm brake pressure. When the brake pedal vibrates, it gives a false sense of abs working but the truck stops slower than if it were the abs. Sudden stops on bumpy roads are very dangerous.

11 Dash Wiring problem of the 1997 GMC Sierra
