I have diesel 3500 1fuel tank the fuel gauge doesn't always come on and if does it may take several miles before it begins to work. Or sometimes it may just quit. Then other time it may work just fine. There seems to be a problem. The problem did not start till I turned about 40,000 I have about 42,000 now. If it works today then if it set for an few day it may not when it start till you drive several miles. Then it may work for several day then it may stop you never know when it going to stop. Do you have a answer for this problem. I know there a problem with dual tanks but have single tank.
Engine light keeps coming on take it to the dealer I guess they reset it and now this is the 3rd time it's now back on, back up camera goes out from time to time,.

On January 23rd I started the GMC via the GMC phone app and when I got in the truck pushed brake and start button and that's will gauges went crazy saying brake malfunction . Steering ,speed reduced to 62 mph and brake pedal went to floor with little to no brakes and stopped the truck turned it off and on twice before all codes cleared except now the check engine light is on . Brakes appeared to work fine after te second time of turning the truck off and on . 970 miles on it!.
Electric/electronic/computer issues. Most issues are intermittent, some happen all the time. The intermittent ones sometime happen in clusters (multiple times a day then not for days, weeks, months) a few have only happened once so far. The following issues happen all the time. Does not come out of cruise control automatically during collision alert. Does not automatically brake during imminent collision with auto brake feature turned on. Secondary bluetooth phone does outgoing calls through trucks info system. Heads-up display gives double turn directions during route guidance nav. Bluetooth texting does not work. The following issues happen frequently. Transmission bangs/shudders periodically, accelerating, not accelerating, slowing down, just driving, mostly on level grade. Sometimes strong enough to feel like I was rear ended, passengers have jumped many radio media issues with sound and nav boot up. During parking maneuver after coming out of reverse and going into drive, forward camera would come on and then switch to nav screen when I took my foot off the brake. To resolve would go in reverse then back to drive and the front camera would stay on. After vehicle start I go into drive and front camera comes on. Sometimes it does not in the exact similar circumstances. No indication from forward detection sensors. After backing out of a parking spot, going into drive forward camera comes on then the whole screen goes bright blue, after a few seconds forward camera comes back on until I speed up. Other issues not so frequent. Have been to dealership over 9 times for a total of 37 days it was in the shop. GMC cac useless and do not know the product. Dealership technicians are not familiar with new product or have the computer skill set to fix.
When I'm driving at a slow speed turning the truck looses all power and the steering wheel jerks out of my hand, stabilitrak is on the display and it says roll down driver window and roll back up! it also looses all power just driving down the road no matter the speed! I have also been stopped at a stoplight and it lost all power wouldn't come back on so I had to get out pop the hood and bang I. The battery box and cables and it started again! very scary going 75 mph and it shuts off leaving you no steering no brakes no lights no nothing! sometimes it says power steering failure sometimes and sometimes it says stabilitrack problem at something about towing! the brakes were also affected no brakes.
On screen display for backup camera. When putting the vehicle in reverse, the on screen display is so bright that you can't see out the windows, the rearview mirrors or the surrounding area. This display does not dim with the rest of the lights. This causes a severe safety hazard when trying to backup the vehicle.
GMC has refused to find a fix for the heater cord defect which is one of the main reason why I purchased the vehicle. I live in idaho. GMC should compensate owners until fixed.
Display screen to bright when vehicle is in reverse. When putting vehicle in reverse the backup camera display is so bright you can not see your exterior mirrors or out any of the windows to see surrounding area. This is very unsafe condition because you are blinded while backing up. When took the truck to dealership I was told they can't duplicate this. And have had no other complaints???.
I remote started the vehicle to allow it to warm up. The rear window defroster automatically turned on. After a few minutes, I got into the vehicle and noticed a burning smell as well as smoke coming out of the square control unit on the rear sliding window. Quickly, I shut off the vehicle in case there would be a fire. After doing some research, I noticed that there have been several similar complaints. Other people have reported that they noticed rear defroster wires glowing and melting trim while other have reported smoke and subsequent shattering of the rear window. This happened about one month ago (I do not have the exact date).
My 2014 GMC Sierra shuts off while driving on the interstate with my family. In some cases all electrical blinks and it continues to drive while temporarily losing power steering and other features and other times turning off completely until coming to a stop. The dealership wants ~$400 to do diagnostics on a g218 bolt that they were told by GMC that it is related to. This issue came from the factory this way. While not wanting to pay that for the diagnostic and researching myself, I found 100s of videos online similar to the one below which shows this issue happening to owners of the GMC trucks. When I spoke with GMC customer care about this, they told me that there were no recalls on the issue. There are going to be truck owners that lose their life along with any passengers if this issue is not taken care. I am very scare for our safety and the safety of countless others like the link below have posted about this known issue. . Read more...

When reverse is activated at night, the backup camera comes on at full brightness and is not dimmable. The bright screen prevents view of the passenger side mirror and significantly reduces visibility in the driver side mirror while reversing. The screen cannot be deactivated and blinds the driver. This is an ongoing issue.
Interior dash lights goes out and a few minutes later the engine cuts off while I'm trying to park. Each time while I was backing into my parking space. After sitting for about 30 seconds the lights dash board lights come back on, then I restart the truck. Sometimes while driving the dash board light blink of and on.

There is a extremely dangerous electrics issue with my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 all terrain. In the last 18 months my truck has locked the steering at low speed while turning 8 times. (I could have easily broken a finger a lost control of my truck) . On 5 of the times I had steering issue the truck had no power to anything including key fobs for a period of 10 to 15 minutes. Then the truck will power up again. Fortunately these issues have occurred at low speed. This has happen 8 times in the last 18 months . It has been to dealership for service regarding this issue they changed the battery after only 18 months (10/2015) the issue occur again 2 days ago while traveling on the freeway at 70 mph my truck shut down no power then in less than a second it powered up again all the setting on my radio, climate control changed. That day I stopped to get gas got back in my truck pulled away from the pump the steering locked truck shut down again for 20 minutes. This truck is currently at a dealership they still can not diagnos the issue. I'm extremly concern that someone could be seriously injured or killed if this was to happen while operating this truck. I did see that may other owner of GMC Sierra have expressed similar concerns. The issues needs to be addressed immediately. As for myself I plan to this truck after the dealership attempts another repair.
While driving my truck, it has had 3 alerts on dash for "service stabilitrak, power steering use caution and trailer brake. " vehicle gauges all drop to zero while operating vehicle and go on and off. The vehicle when this occurs also disengages from gear, vehicle is an automatic. Then engine revs up when it slips out of gear and generally goes back in gear as gauges come back on. The power steering seems to also lose some power. When this occurs, if you depress the gas pedal, you do not get any more power. This is technically the 6th occurrence. It has been back to dealer (griffin GMC of monroe, nc) and computer codes were cleared and nothing reported ie. . . Technically found that would cause this issue per the dealership as unable to re-produce the cause. I returned the truck today after this 6th occurrence due to my fear of driving the vehicle with my children and getting involved in an accident. I have video of this last occurrence of dashboard gauges and shared them with the dealership. First occurrence pictures are Feb 29, 2016 and Sunday, March 20, 2016. Vehicle has approximately 2000 miles on odometer. Entire time, vehicle has been running on local road, either at stop or driving below 45mph moving straight ahead. I could not replicate or cause the issue to happen again on purpose, very random.
Purchased my 2008 GMC Sierra truck in November 2015 after having for only 5 months driver side door lock will only lock or unlock sometime, making it unsafe if you needed to exit quickly due to accident or fire. Seen many other post about same problem. Should be a recall on this.
The vehicles headlights are dangerously ineffective. They rarely illuminate the distance between 2 telephone poles. The ineffectiveness of the headlights is amplified on hills or on any turn. The during the transition from decline to incline, you sometimes have barely a trucks length of illumination. Any corner on a dark road requires a severe decrease in travel speed to avoid over driving the lights. I have never driven a vehicle that made me feel more apprehensive to get behind the wheel after dark. I visited the dealer who executed a TSB that increased headlight voltage and replaced the bulbs. It made a negligible improvement and left the vehicle still unsafe at night. I frequently travel on rural roads with no street lights. I have almost hit wildlife too many times to count due to the poor visibility caused by these dangerous headlights. Travel over 30 mph on dark country roads with a legal speed limit of 50 is ill advised due to the ineffectiveness of the headlights.
Tl- the contact owns a 2012 GMC Sierra. The contact stated the vehicle experienced a loss of power which resulted in a front end collision with a guard rail. When the failure occurred all warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was able to be operated after the accident. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000. Kh.

The headlights on this truck provide inadequate lighting, including both low beams and high beams. Any night driving is difficult due to limited visibility, there simply is not enough illumination to see. Can be very dangerous - especially at speeds above 35 mph or during precipitation. The headlight has a severe design flaw with gms says is a shutter system. This type of design does not leave any options for simply changing the type of bulb - the design is actually at fault for the poor visibility. The visibility problems simply cannot be fixed with a different bulb type due to the shutter design type. The need from a new headlight will solve the problem. many complaints are being registered online related to the visibility problem. These trucks are not safe to drive at night. If there is a standard for minimum headlight illumination for night time driving, this model headlight needs to be reviewed if it is meeting the minimum standard. Not safe, a definite problem that needs attention.
Check engine light illuminated. Took truck to local Chevrolet dealer for repair and they discovered the wires had been chewed through. I read that gm uses peanut oil on wires in order to install them easier. Looks like this attracted a mouse, squirrel, chipmunk, or other creature and it chewed the wires. Luckily it did not affect the operation of the truck but it could have led to a short circuit that could have caused a fire. I feel this needs to be thoroughly investigated. And gm needs to create some kind of animal repellant to spray on the wires after vehicle assembly.
Tl- the contact owns a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500 500. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started the doors automatically locked as designed, however, when the vehicle was placed in the park position the doors failed to unlock. The contact had to manually unlock the vehicle. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and was diagnosed that the drivers and passengers side door actuators were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. Sw.

Visibility from the vehicles headlights is very poor. I'm afraid to drive at night because lighting is poor.
Vehicle's volt gauge read's between 16 and 17 volt's. Constanly. Taken to dealer and was told after there testing of the system all reading were at 14. 4 to 14. 7 volts. They could not duplicate problem. When leaving dealership waited after starting to watch gauge as driving down the hiway. Gauge still reading between 16 and 17 volts. Have now contacted GMC customer service for further help.

I was driving on the highway when all the lights on the instrument cluster came on and went crazy and so did the radio. The trucks brakes locked up and came to a complete stop. The truck turned off and when I tried to turn it back on it was dead. Open up the hood and disconnected the battery and reconnected and the truck turned on this has not been the only time it has happen.
While driving on first snow after truck purchase I tried the 4wheel drive system. When I switched it over the mirrors went down, the seat went back, and the pedals came up. Thankfully I was going slow at the time. It was a very strange feeling and lucky that my wife was not driving at the time. I have an appointment at the dealership to have it looked at.
Driver front door does not lock or unlock.
In cold weather the instrument cluster does not work, the only thing that does work is the back lighting.
