general problems of the 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 - part 2

Takata recall - received NHTSA recall #2049151 gm # 16v381, in 2016. I've called mckinney TX GMC Buick numerous times over the past 2 years & have been told repeatedly that parts are not available. Today I called & spoke with a gm rep (ph# 866-996-9463). I was told that my particular VIN is not included in the recall & is safe to drive (he read me a long statement that I'm sure gm tells them to read). When I asked him why, when I enter my VIN in their website search, it says my vehicle is at risk, he couldn't answer. Since receiving the original notice over 2 years ago, I've purposely limited the miles driven on my 10-yr-old truck, because of their recall letter. Now, they're saying the letter was wrong, but they're not willing to send me something stating that. I have zero faith in what that gm rep told me, & I'm really hesitant to drive my vehicle on the highway. Please advise if my vehicle is, indeed safe to drive, ow whether I need to continue pursuing gm for repairs. If they can put safe airbags in a new truck, why can't they put one in mine?.

Takata recall. No solution offered by dealer when contacted (sheehan GMC). No incident has occurred to date with airbag as of the date below.

Recall oit for 2 years, never recieved a notice, jeapordizing the safery of my children and wide, yet I always get junk mail letyers and cards from dealer wanting me to trade in or biy another GMC. Called wieaner in conroe, they told me no fix abailable and just try to drive without any passenhers!? what!?.

Severely cracked dash. Cracked in 5 places. Worried what would happen if passenger airbag is ever deployed.

Takata recall contacted jim curly dealer and they refuse to replace the air bags because they said it was still an open recall. So they are not being replaced at our risk to injury.

Hi I have a 2008 GMC sierra that is on the airbag recall list, my truck is now 12 years old and no remedy I live in hawaii where it gets hot and humid. Why is it taking so long for a fix? I've received multiple recall notices over the past two years and have gone in to the local GMC dealer as directed. Last visit 11/03/2017. They don't have the parts and can't help in any way. Gm takes no responsibility and blames takata. Now with takata's bankruptcy the consumer is screwed!.

Takata recall: there was an indication on the takata site that the truck should be taken in for a replacement of airbags, but according to the gm dealer there was no fix at this time and the vehicle was deemed safe to drive by gm.

"takata recall" recall 49152. I have been in contact , several times, w/ GMC about the recall since receiving the letter in early 2016. Whereas we have yet to experience any issues with the truck, it is approaching 10 years old and we are afraid it is only a matter of time. We dont want to drive it for fear of rupture. Today we were told that a decision is to be made by the end of Dec. 2017 that may relieve GMC of this burden altogether which we find completely unsatisfactory. We would like this replaced as it is the right and safe thing to do & at GMC's expense. Is there anything we can do besides sale/trade it in, only to pass the problem on to someone else? thank you.

Airbag recall issued may 2016, dealer (medved castle rock, CO) indicates 16 months later (November 2017) that it still does not have replacement parts. I continue to drive an unsafe vehicle courtesy of gm. This is 3rd call to dealer to fix this critical recall.

Takata is going bankrupt. Repairs must be done by Dec. 27, 2017. When I contact the dealer they tell me there are no parts release by takata to remedy this problem. Please advise.

Called don davis lake jackson in August about recall have not received a replacement part.

Takata recall called prince Chevrolet in albany georgia and was told that they could not fix the air bag that had been recalled. I have not been hurt nor has air bag been deployed, just want the air bag replaced.
