Lost power steering while parking. Dash board got alert power steering disable drive with care .
When you push on the break the vehicle’s power shuts down. Yes it is available for inspection upon request. When steering wheel is turned it dies. After this happens stabilizer light comes on and power steering assist comes on. No inspection has been done called dealership and they said the recall from 2014 had already been done. This is a very serious issue when driving in traffic and I do not want to be in or cause an accident.
I had made a appointment to get the recalls resolved at the dealership and I made appointment and everything and they call to confirm thru out the week and then when I showed up they said they couldn’t fix it cause it was a branded title and they didn’t even offer me any other way of fixing it .
On several occasions spanning multiple years the truck loses power while braking and turning at slow speeds. On more rare occasions, but still numerous, the same problem occurs when braking at higher speeds without turning. The truck dash lights, media screen and headlights all dim or flicker as a ticking or popping noise is heard behind the dash much like an arching electrical wire. Most of the time when these scenarios happen the display on the drivers display screen reads stabiltrak warning. Also when the problem occurs while turning and braking at low speeds the truck will completely lose power and power steering as well as assisted braking. Once the truck comes to a stop the ignition, and all electrical systems are completely unresponsive like the battery is dead. In order to start the truck again, I have to get out of the truck, open the engine hood and oscillate both the negative and positive battery cables. Most of the time the truck will start up after doing this. Sometimes I have to use booster cables to get it to start. Neither the cables or the terminal connectors are loose as they have been inspected by a dealer service tech and a local mechanic.
2014 GMC Sierra 1500 4wd ~75k miles. Sometimes when I roll up my windows or use my blinker and it shuts off cruise control (hwy). And sometimes when I hit my breaks my headlights will dim (hwy, city streets, parking lots). When I'm turning slowly (in parking lots) the steeling will occasionally lock up and once it lost power entirely. My battery was tested at bigo and said it was fine. I've seen this online a lot for this truck and similar years, but no one seems to have a resolution. With so many incidents I'm shocked they don't have a fix or any idea what is wrong.
The truck shuts off while driving which disables the power steering, engine and power braking. The electrical systems seems to reboot and turn back on after a second or two. This also happens occasionally while driving at slower speeds and turning the steering wheel or after hitting the turn signal. I have had the entire electrical system and engine shut off while doing 50mph on the high just because I turned my turn signal on. This happens every 4 weeks or so. You can tell it is about to happen when the headlights start deeming when tapping the brakes or using the turn signal. It usually happens when the truck is in motion. It has happened in all temperatures. After it happens the console states "stablitrak is disabled".
Steering locked up won't let me turn no noise no warning just stopped turning. I'm lick I was coming at a low speed truck only has 65000 miles has always been up to date on maintenance. I see a lot of people are having the same issues with the steering giving out with no warning.

This issue with the power steering going on and off happened suddenly on multiple occassion like on slow turns and driving straight on the highway. The contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at slow speeds, the power steering assist intermittently failed to operate as needed with the "steering assist reduced - drive with care" message displayed. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) which was linked to the failure. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where the contact was informed that the vehicle was previously repaired under the recall, and that the vehicle was no longer under recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
Was driving through a local parking lot, going only 3 miles an hour and started to turn left when all of a sudden the driver side wheel just snapped off throwing me into the steering wheel. My right arm got a scrape and right shoulder popped. The truck hit a metal pole and dented the driver side panel, missing the head light. So glad this didn't happen on the highway.
I was turning into my parking spot at work and the truck would not let me turn, the power was shut down and my steering wheel jerked. It took three minutes to very slowly pull into a parking spot. Every single time I tried to. Turn it would shut my truck down and jerk the steering wheel. Then displayed service stabilitrac. All I can think is what if I were turning onto another road with my kids in my truck and my steering goes out. I'm highly disappointed I've had the truck less than 24 hours and already an issue.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed and making a left turn, the vehicle loss power steering assist and became difficult to steer and stalled. The contact experienced the failure twice. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. Auburn valley GMC located at 3104 auburn way north, auburn, wa 98002 and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 17v414000 (steering) however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was 95,500.
Steering assistant disabled and stability track has been coming on and the gauges blink off then come back on make it hard to steer just for a second going down a city street and when stopped at a light.
Gauges flicker, headlights dim when hitting breaks, stability traction comes on, 4x4 has locked in. Truck has lost all power. Had to reset truck by removing battery cable from battery for a short period.
This incident occurred 4-5 times over the last week driving between 25-40 mph. While driving, a warning or notification pops up on the dashboard screen stating stabilitrack off or steering assist off, which stiffens the steering wheel and I can't turn the truck at all. At one point, the notifications popped up and then my a/c went off and radio went off along with my entire vehicle. I had to slam on my brakes, place the vehicle in park, and then restart at which point it came back on and worked until I could pull over and assess what had occurred. I attempted to call GMC customer service (800-996-9463) and advise them of the problem and they acknowledged a recall (#17276 - loss of steering assist), but it didn't apply to my VIN#. It only applied to 2014 models of both Chevrolet silverado ld and GMC sierra ld vehicles, whereas my vehicle is a 2014 GMC sierra ltd. They advised that a GMC dealer could "reprogram the eps module software", but the cost would come out of my pocket and they wouldn't acknowledge any fault or recall issue. My concern is obviously the fact I have kids and transport them to and from school and sporting events. I couldn't even imagine this happening with children in the vehicle and causing an accident or worse injuries to passengers or the driver. This is a major safety issue, and I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed or acknowledged by GMC.
At speeds highway speeds 50 and above the truck can shack horrible causing to apply vehicles hazards and pulling off the road for feeling like the truck is coming apart with the fear of loosing control of the vehicle. The horrible shack cause nausea and dizziness. I have replaced wheels and tires, shocks, re aligned and balanced multiple times nothing has fixed the issue. Will be in touch with a GMC dealer about this situation .
When truck is at low rpm (usually turning into parking spot slowly) truck will shut off. Its pulling to much power from cpu or alternator and killing truck. This is a safety issue.
During normal driving in town and on highway, stabillitrak deactivates, power steering assist deactivates and the steering becomes very difficult, airbags deactivate, turn signals become inoperable, radio shuts off, air conditioning shuts off. This happens while at speed on the highway and at slow speeds. It is especially dangerous when making slow turns as the power steering gives out and the truck instantly becomes nearly uncontrollable (uncontrollable for my wife) in the middle of the turn. I have taken the truck to the dealership and they said nothing is wrong and the best they could do was perform a service bulletin. Issue was not corrected. I found that there was a new bulletin that had a fix for the g218 ground. I cut back the sound deadening from the ground, yet that did not fix the issue either. The truck has done this dozens of times and is incredibly unsafe to drive. How can losing steering, airbags, stability control, turn signals, etc. Not be a safety concern?.

While driving at low speeds the steering wheel jerks and is very difficult to turn and fails to turn and can sometimes be pulled right out of your hands while attempting to turn. When this occurs while negotiating a turn it causes the vheicle to fail the turn, turn very widely and forces the vheilce into the oncoming lane. This vehicle apparently has a recall on part of the power steering assist, but the power steering rack needs to be replaced and GMC will not cover the replacement even though it is all one unit.
While driving the vehicle is losing power in the steering wheel, prompting the stabilitrac warning light to come on. This happens while driving at any speed, while turning and while going in reverse.
My electrical power steering has given out. I cant steer whatsoever. It is on recall. We fo have a local shop but it is not a gm shop. We did try working with gm and also the seller-ak sales and service to try get it fixed. They will not help me whatsoever. I love in the bush which means we have limited access. If I wanted to get this fixed I'd have to pay out of pocket over I grand to get my vehicle barged to amchorage, ak. Which I dont have that kind of money. I still owe over 11 grand on my truck. I'm sol as to what to do.
Service power steering came on in dash I could not steer the truck.
Steering rack clunks when turning left at low speeds.
The vehicle 4wd system remains engaged and will not disengage. Upon further investigation the system effects steering and drivability. Also effects speed of the vehicle. The vehicle utilizes a code c0398 and show a message of the dash service 4wd. This is due to faulty software installed by the manufacturer. Will cause damage to mechanical parts if driven on the vehicle and is a safety hazard. Gm reference # issued to me when issue complaint of the out of pocket cost to update the software as required by gm to fix their operating system. My reference number is 9-5058496526. Same issue resulted in 2015 GMC sierras that caused gm to issue a service bulletin #28770. Software issues are not wear and tear components. Gm faulty software is the responsibility of the gm as they can cause safety and damage to the mechanical parts of the vehicle.
I started my truck and a message came up that says to service power steering and I am unable to turn my wheel or drive safely. I know that this is a recall on 2014 sierra but the dealership refuses to fix mine.
"takata recall" driving truck down interstate and it just cutoff no steering no breaks all power shuts off. I wait till truck is stooped and try wigging key and make sure gearshift is in right position. After a few min lights come on the dash and the truck will start back up. It says in the notification area in dash let driver side window down and up again. This has happen twice and both times I was on a interstate almost hit by cars behind me. I was driving about 65 mph going straight most time it would do this if I change lanes.
Losing power steering intermittently and suddenly. Wheel becoming extremely difficult/heavier to move. Truck turned off.
Was driving down the highway at highway speeds rolled the passenger window up the stereo cut off the gauges cut out and the wipers wipes in one time. Then a message stating stabilitrak needed to be serviced and electronic power steering was out.
