I was driving on 96 w. In slow traffic on the freeway when the vehicle put itself in neutral and shut off.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the instrument panel shut off without warning. The vehicle was restarted, and the panel remained blank with white streaks across the screen. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, and the dealer associated the failure with the instrument cluster. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,500.

My 2023 gnc Sierra 1500 has experienced a recurring electrical and safety-related malfunction on multiple occasions while driving. The dashboard and warning lights intermittently flash on, and off and numerous warning messages appear simultaneously. During previous occurrences, warnings included power steering service, safety restraint system, check engine and transmission related messages, including a message instructing me to pull over and shut the vehicle off. During one occurrence, the electric power steering assist stopped working while I was driving. The vehicle was taken to an authorized GMC dealership multiple times while under the factory warranty. The dealer replaced the brake system control module and performed vehicle-wide software/programming updates. When the problem continued, the dealer contacted gm technical assistance. The dealer subsequently diagnosed an intermittent open circuit involving the electric power steering rack-and-pinion/steering gear assembly and replaced the complete steering gear assembly. Despite these repairs, the malfunction has occurred again, during another occurrence while driving on the freeway, the dashboard flashed on and off and multiple warning lights and messages repeatedly appeared, similar to the condition that occurred before the steering gear was replaced. The vehicle currently has approximately 55,000 miles. The condition remains intermittent despite multiple repair attempts. I am concerned that this recuring electrical or vehicle communication failure could again cause loss of power steering assistance or affect other safety-related vehicle systems while driving.
My truck is intermittently having the camera display a warning code. While in reverse or while towing and trying to use the surrounding cameras. It happens randomly and almost caused accidents in parking lots. While towing I use it for lane changes and with non towing mirrors it’s a very dangerous issue that could cause an accident especially on the highway.

6 month old, 9,000 miles 2026 Sierra 1500 with duramax 3 liter suffered an engine control module failure 4 hours into a 12. 5 hour drive home from family vacation. First a transmission service warning flashed, then an emissions system failure with a forced speed reduction warning. This happened with two children and a dog in the vehicle. Onstar did diagnotics and said I had to see a dealer. Fortunately one was nearby and they determined the engine control module needed to be replaced--but I was 8. 5 hours' drive from home with kids and dog and would have had to stay for 2-4 days awaiting parts and repair. I traded the truck at the dealer for a new vehicle and drove that home. This was a major safety concern traveling with children and a dog on a nearly 100 degree day. And it was a brand new vehicle.
Interior electrical system / center console wireless charging pad the plastic housing surrounding the factory wireless phone charging pad in the center console has visibly melted and deformed. The damage is localized to the area directly above/around the induction charging coil, with no similar heat damage to adjacent console plastics, indicating the wireless charging module itself is the heat source. I stopped using this charging location upon noticing the deformation. This appears to be a component overheating defect that poses a potential fire risk if left in continued use. I am not aware of an existing recall or technical service bulletin covering physical melting of this component (existing gm bulletins address intermittent charging function only, not heat damage to plastic). Requesting this be documented and investigated.

I own a 2021 GMC sierra at4 3. 0l duramax (VIN [xxx]). The vehicle has codes p1098 (coolant control valve performance) and p129f which coincides with the first code. My dealer believes this is consistent with an engine coolant control valve failure. I understand special coverage xxx exists for this issue, but I've been told my VIN is not included. My truck has the exact engine, symptoms, and diagnostic codes addressed by special coverage n252508341, but my VIN is excluded. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

No sound at different times. No way to reset issue. TSB issued may 14, 2026 for known issue. As of July 6, no estimate on repair. Blinkers make no sounds, onstar can call but you cannot hear them. In event of accident, no communication.
While driving at highway speed, my 2025 GMC sierra suddenly began slowing down without warning and lost propulsion. When I pressed the accelerator, there was no acceleration response. The vehicle felt like it was braking or dragging instead of accelerating, creating a serious crash risk in traffic. A warning message appeared instructing me to “put in neutral and restart truck. ” I followed the instruction, but the vehicle would not restart. It sounded like it was attempting to start, but it would not start normally. A “service esc” warning also appeared. The vehicle was towed by aaa to a GMC dealership and remains available for inspection. The dealership provided a diagnostic trouble code report showing active codes: c2a07 engine control module indicated torque signal malfunction; u0101 lost communication with transmission control module; u0131 lost communication with power steering control module; u0140 lost communication with body control module; u0146 lost communication with central gateway module; u160f lost communication with brake system control module 1 on can bus 1; u1611 lost communication with engine control module on can bus 2; and u3003 battery voltage circuit voltage below threshold. The vehicle had approximately 22,000 miles at the time of the incident. The failure has not been repaired at the time of this complaint. The concern appears to involve a safety-related electrical, propulsion, powertrain, esc/brake, and module communication failure that caused sudden loss of propulsion, no acceleration response, warning messages, and a no-start condition.
I am retired and have always bought gm vehicles which are taken care of with required oil changes etc. This one I have only owned 25,000 mi each year (I have owned two years). So, when purchased it has high 50,000 miles not sure of exact, and it has only been driven 2 years. When calling escalation at gm, they act as though it doesn't matter and too bad. 110,000 miles and the truck needs a new motor. This is what we are told and 10,000 more than the initial 1500 to tear it down. This truck is not broken due to us, this is a problem with the manufacturer and the responsibility needs to be addressed. My husband has a heart issue and he almost didn't make it home. I'm not accepting that nothing be done, since next we need a lawyer and a media appointment. This isn't right when you see thousands of people with the same GMC sierra trucks online with complaints of the same valve and motor issues. This needs completely replaced and not by a customer, by the manufacturer. How can 1500 people new wrong on one sight stating the same as we have had. This person who is responsble for reporting and making sure we are safe needs to be fired. I am writing my representatives, senators etc to let them know this is going on. No one should pay for the mistakes of bad engineering. Period.

I was driving at 45 mph and all of a sudden the screens went black as if the truck was turned off and the first thing I did was turn on the hazards because I didn’t know if the engine shut off either there was on coming traffic from both my front and back so I was scared my truck shut off 5-7 seconds later the screens turned back on and everything went back to normal but I was scared that my truck just turned off I made the dealership aware of this issue as soon as I pulled over and they said they had a busy schedule and that they would try to have a manager reach out to me to “squeeze me in” mind you I just got my truck back from the dealership due to electrical issues and service yesterday and not even 24 hours later this happened so I am upset.
Was driving down the road at 35 mph and the truck started to shake and the the transmission shifted really hard check engine light came on. Pulled over truck wouldn’t go into reverse and wouldn’t shift correctly. Had my truck towed home called the dealership they said I will need to have it towed in. Several days later the check engine light was off I took the truck around the block it was running okay. Drove it the next day it did the same thing shook really bad shifted hard and wouldn’t shift correctly my go I took reverse. Had it towed to the dealership. The dealership said it was the same problem they are having on other trucks with this same transmission truck is out of warranty and gm will not cover the cost to fix it.
So I made an appointment to have my truck recalled and the Wednesday before I took it, and it cranked no start and I called the dealership. Ask if they had any other those like this and they said that it could be the fuel injector module and so I got it to a mechanic shop to read the codes and it gave me a code p062b and I asked the dealership to look into it and they never figured out what we were not wrong. I just testing the battery. Well, then I got it back after the recall was done and new transmission valve body put in and about 30 miles down the road it started to shake violently and had a flashing engine light so I got it home called the dealership the next morning because they were closed set up another appointment got it to the dealership dealership said it had a couple misfires but since it wasn’t over 100 they weren’t concerned even though I’m pretty sure it is related to the fuel model going out because it has been cranking rapidly whenever I try to start it, but they won’t do anything to figure out what’s wrong?.
I am submitting supplemental evidence regarding my 2021 GMC sierra (VIN [xxx]) for recall query rq26001, campaign 25v-274. Despite multiple repair attempts, my vehicle remains unsafe and non-compliant with gm service bulletin n252494002. The recall remedy was performed deficiently. [xxx] northeast Buick GMC installed a remanufactured short block instead of the required complete engine, reused the original seized-engine oil pan (which continues to leak), and failed to address critical electrical damage. Documentation proves they deleted labor operation 14buz (engine electrical) after their technician noted a blown mega fuse. A second dealer, penske Chevrolet, subsequently deleted labor operation 77cvz01 from my repair order, demonstrating a systemic pattern of ignoring recall-required repairs. Electrical damage has cascaded, resulting in a burnt fuse block and active faults p0615, p0617, p26e4, p26e6, u0623, and u0284. More critically, within 24 miles of my last service, the vehicle developed a new, severe safety failure: the "service brake pad monitor" system failed, accompanied by a red "service system" dashboard alert and a noticeably spongy brake pedal. These brakes were recently serviced, yet this failure introduces a new risk of crash not present prior to the recall "remedy. " gm executive resolution case xxx has provided no resolution, reimbursement, or safety assurance, ignoring all deadlines since xxx. I possess extensive documentation, including service orders showing deleted labor operations and diagnostic logs. I request this update be integrated into the investigation of rq26001, as the current remedy is demonstrably ineffective and has exacerbated safety hazards. The manufacturer’s refusal to remediate these issues, despite my compliance, leaves me with an unsafe vehicle and significant financial loss. I am prepared to provide all supporting records to substantiate this complaint. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When I put the vehicle in park, the dash warning says it is not in park or shift to park. The components continue to work. I have taken it to the dealership and according to the service manger, this is a very common occurrence in these trucks. This seems to me that it would be a very serious safety issue if one assumes their vehicle is in park and it is actually not. The shift to park warning is a safety warning to alert the driver it is not in park so the vehicle doesn’t roll off and hit someone (especially a child playing in the driveway). Assuming that alert is just a malfunction could get someone killed. I did notice that this was considered a safety recall for some models of GMC vehicles but not others. I’m not sure why there hasn’t been a recall on these trucks when the service manager specifically said they are having this issue on a lot of trucks.
Fire started under passenger side front seat dashboard when rear defrost was turned on.

Model: sierra denali ultimate engine: 6. 2l v8 VIN: [xxx] mileage at most recent incident: approximately 52,000 miles safety complaint summary I am submitting this complaint to report a recurring loss-of-propulsion and engine power event involving my 2023 GMC sierra denali ultimate equipped with the 6. 2l v8 engine. This vehicle has experienced two separate incidents in which it suddenly lost power while being operated at highway speeds. During both events, the vehicle unexpectedly lost propulsion without warning and without any apparent driver input or mechanical indication beforehand. No warning lights, check-engine lights, reduced-engine-power messages, service transmission messages, or other warning indicators were displayed prior to the failure. The vehicle simply lost power while traveling in traffic. During both occurrences, I was forced to safely maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the roadway while rapidly losing speed among surrounding traffic. Once stopped, the vehicle would not resume normal operation until it was restarted. After restarting, the vehicle appeared to operate normally; however, the fact that this condition has now occurred twice raises significant concerns regarding the reliability and safety of the vehicle. Safety risk this condition presents a significant and immediate safety risk because sudden loss of propulsion during highway operation can leave the driver unable to maintain speed, safely merge, maneuver, or avoid surrounding traffic. The unexpected reduction in speed creates the potential for rear-end collisions, loss of vehicle control, or other traffic accidents, particularly when operating on high-speed roadways. Because the vehicle provided no warning before losing power, there is little opportunity for a driver to take preventive action. Additional information • vehicle: 2023 GMC sierra denali ultimate • engine: 6. 2l v8 • VIN: [xxx] • approximate mileage: 52,000 miles • number of incident information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 55.
For no apparent reason the truck goes into “low power mode” and gives off code p2138 often happens around 30-35 mph. Have had it happen to me also around 45 mph also. I have replaced sensors and parts to which a month or so goes by and it happens again.

My truck will not start when I press the push-button ignition. After waiting a few seconds and trying multiple times, it typically starts on the third attempt. Additionally, it will not restart after the auto stop feature activates at stop signs or traffic lights. This is very concerning, especially when pulling into oncoming traffic, as I’m worried the truck could shut off while I’m crossing. I have already had the battery, starter, and alternator checked, and all components tested fine. However, the issue is still occurring. There are also no warning lights or messages displayed on the dashboard.
Coolant control valve.
Check engine light illuminated with service transmission. The next day transmission started slipping and finally would not engage in reverse. Dealership has it now and after diagnosis they advised that they had replaced the electronic control module to which, on the test drive, the gauge cluster blacked out and they got more codes. The cpdes that the vehical threw were the transmission valve body needed to be replaced. The truck has 24k miles on it.
2020 GMC Sierra 1500 infotainment system including navigation, onstar and voice command, stoped working on Friday may 15th with no prior warning. These systems are integral for modern safe travel and severely affects the value and driver confidence in the vehicle. It seems to be running mechanically sound but, with some of the communications and information systems not working properly I am unsure how much of the info is incorrect like the clock (which can not be set manually). I have scheduled an appointment with the dealer for June 2nd the earliest date available.
Truck was started using auto start and I drove roughly a mile down the road smelt burning and looked in the back seat, I saw smoke and promptly pulled to the side of the road shut the vehicle off then I heard a loud pop and saw the back drivers side window shattered.

The plastic upper rail glass guide frame on the rear sliding window assembly of my 2023 GMC sierra developed structural micro-cracks during normal vehicle operation. This manufacturing defect is a known issue tracked internally by the manufacturer under technical service bulletin (TSB) #18-na-383. This structural failure allows severe water intrusion into the passenger cabin. The leaking water runs straight down the inside back wall of the cab, completely flooding and corroding sensitive, factory-installed electronic safety modules mounted directly beneath the leak path. This continuous water intrusion caused the catastrophic electrical failure and corrosion of the video processing control module located behind the rear seat. The sudden failure of this module completely disabled the rearview digital mirror camera and the 360-degree perimeter driver assistance cameras, creating immediate blind spots and an active driving safety hazard while operating the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected and repaired by an authorized dealership, confirming the rear window leak as the direct cause of the electronic destruction. The out-of-pocket cost to replace the water-damaged safety components was $2,747. 00. Because the manufacturer refused to cover the replacement of the defective rear glass assembly, the structural leak remains unresolved. This active water intrusion continues to flood the cabin, creating a health hazard via mold growth and guaranteeing that the newly replaced safety cameras will inevitably short-circuit and fail again.
Traveling had an engine light come on. Stopped at a dealer they inspected found multiple errors reset engine light and said continue home. When home bring into my dealer. Got home that night went to start truck, all kinds of errors started popping up on the dash, vehicle would not turn over at all. Had to call wrecker to have brought into shop. First issue could not put the truck into neutral at all, so they had to pull in park to put unto the bed of wrecker (that seems to be a very poor design of the truck). Brought truck into shop received a call two days later that it is fixed and working fine. Went to the shop asked what the problem was, told there is a ground strap under the truck that is like the main part to make sure everything works regarding electronics. The dealer has had to repair many of these ground straps, they are exposed to the elements and come loose I was told. They had two other GMC trucks in the shop with the same issue that day. The ground strap is exposed to the elements do not understand why this would not be covered just like a battery lead to stop from corroding and have to clean it or replace it. Not to mention there is no where in the service manual I can find about any maintenance that needs to be done with it. Appears to be a very bad design from the car manufacture.
Digital dash cluster lost all communication and only has backlight, no speed, fuel gauges, anything what so ever. Can become extremely dangerous if driving down the road without the knowing of speed and other levels such as oil pressure and fuel.
First occurrence was 02/27/2026 - onstar detecated a critical issue, the check esc, check tsc words came on in the center dash, then the orange lights came on and my truck went into limp mode at a stop light. I had to limp mode a mile to the nearest dealer. Where nothing was repaired just reset. Second occurrence - exhaust flap valve failed creating chirping noise resulting in a muffler replacement on 04/28/2026 - picked the vehicle up on 04/30/2026 third occurrence - 05/01/2026 came out after a wedding to start my truck which it immediately repeated the first occurrence, check esc, check tsc with the orange lights and chugging. Recorded on camera now the trucks been at the dealership awaiting updates.
The telematics control module failed - it no longer functions. This affects the ability to use onstar services, such as navigation assistance, but especially onstar emergency services which would be needed in case of a vehicle crash or other emergency. Onstar no longer works due to the module failure. There is a backlog of at least several months, or longer, before a new module is available. Many people complain that the replacement module often fails within a few months,.
The contact owns a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed on several occasions, the pedestrian warning alert unexpectedly illuminated. The contact stated that during the failure, the braking system became inoperable and then the brakes locked up, causing the contact and a passenger to suffer whiplash. The contact stated that there were no pedestrians near the vehicle when the failure had occurred. Additionally, the contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the pedestrian detection system failed to display a warning when a pedestrian was near the vehicle, almost causing the vehicle to strike the pedestrian. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the failure was related to an electrical anomaly and a hardware failure. The contact was advised that an over-the-air update might be issued to address the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.
Got in started truck and there is no sound anywhere. . . None for blinkers, radio, warning lights if there to be any. Zero sounds. This has been investigated by hertrich service--showed video of no sounds coming from truck speakers at all. This is safety hazard with no audio warnings or blinkers, flasher sounds at all.
2021 GMC sierra at4, VIN [xxx] , NHTSA campaign 25v-274, gm case xxx. Brake pad monitor failed at 128,923 miles -- 24 miles after leaving penske Chevrolet (released at 128,899, ro xxx, 04/17/2026). Brakes became spongy immediately following service. Monitor disabled entirely to stop recurring red service system alert. Root cause is a burnt fuse block ground fault confirmed in writing by two gm-authorized dealers. Ray skillman (ro xxx, 06/05/2025) documented the fault then deleted labor operation 14buz engine electrical from the recall repair work order. Penske documented verbatim: "all of these other faults share this same ground circuit. " the recall repair at ray skillman used a remanufactured short block instead of a complete engine per n252494002. The original seized-engine oil pan has never been replaced across three dealerships and 128,000 miles. Gm's own part 573 filing states this defect "increases the risk of a crash. " I drove 300 miles on an interstate on 04/22/2026 with active brake warning and no loaner because gm executive resolution refused to authorize one. Three gm dealers have inspected this vehicle. Gm executive resolution team [xxx] ) has not returned calls or emails and has not confirmed in writing this vehicle is safe to operate. Onstar issued a critical alert for p0617 on 04/15/2026. Zero brake faults existed in the 13 months prior to the penske visit. This is a direct continuation of unresolved electrical damage from a botched federal safety recall repair at 384 days and counting. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
Driving down road and had total loss of power steering and yes it is available for inspection. Almost drove it off the road due to loss of steering yes, it happened to be a failed main grounding strap that created the issue. The dealership made the repair. No, it was inspected and repaired by the dealership yes, started with loss of power steering, then truck died and these codes popped low fuel code, but tank was full; trailer brake system code; side detection code and esc traction control code.
I brought this truck brand new. Had issues the first couple days of purchase that was a quick fix, but as time went on things got worse. Truck always stalling out, engine has been replaced once already due to a recall and months after the first replacement, it stalled out on me again in the middle of the freeway and I just got a call from the dealership that it needs another new engine! how is this right! how is this safe! I could've lost my life on every occasion it has happened.
