--unwanted reduction in the front hvac blower speed and loss of radio, auto ac not working as designed --driver seat vibrating as the lane departure warning activated; I had turned the seat vibrate function off on 25 June 2023. I then went into settings to turn the function off again, and the system would not allow to make the change, it stayed in vibrate function --the passenger front window will not go up automatically, had to hold the button to make the window go up all the way. I then had a message in the dic, that said, “open and close passenger door”. I did so, at the next stop, but the message stayed on the dic and the window still would not go up automatically with the button -- when the vehicle is operated and the ac is not on, just the fan, and windows down, and the auto temp set at 68 degrees, when at idle, there is an obvious increase in very hot air coming from the vents and stays that way until the vehicle is back in motion. Then it seems to adjust back toward normal outside air. During all this operation the recirculation is open to outside air --auto rain sensing windshield wipers; stops at full arc and hesitates during operation --driver side review mirror does not go back to preset 1 position, when put in reverse, both mirrors tilt lower, as I have set, but when put back into drive, the driver mirror does not fully recover until I push the 1 setting --dic message of key not in vehicle, even when the key is in vehicle and vehicle is in motion, the dic message stays on screen saying key not in vehicle --with ac in on position, cold air stops and very warm/hot air starts coming out for about 30-60 seconds, then cold air starts coming out again, happens during driving and stopped, at any speed --truck wifi does not connect automatically software not updated from gm- other safety items are affected --auto headlights --auto brakes --auto wipers --auto systems not working as designed.
This incident occurred 4-5 times over the last week driving between 25-40 mph. While driving, a warning or notification pops up on the dashboard screen stating stabilitrack off or steering assist off, which stiffens the steering wheel and I can't turn the truck at all. At one point, the notifications popped up and then my a/c went off and radio went off along with my entire vehicle. I had to slam on my brakes, place the vehicle in park, and then restart at which point it came back on and worked until I could pull over and assess what had occurred. I attempted to call GMC customer service (800-996-9463) and advise them of the problem and they acknowledged a recall (#17276 - loss of steering assist), but it didn't apply to my VIN#. It only applied to 2014 models of both Chevrolet silverado ld and GMC sierra ld vehicles, whereas my vehicle is a 2014 GMC sierra ltd. They advised that a GMC dealer could "reprogram the eps module software", but the cost would come out of my pocket and they wouldn't acknowledge any fault or recall issue. My concern is obviously the fact I have kids and transport them to and from school and sporting events. I couldn't even imagine this happening with children in the vehicle and causing an accident or worse injuries to passengers or the driver. This is a major safety issue, and I'm surprised this hasn't been addressed or acknowledged by GMC.

My truck meets the exact description outlined in gm recall #17276 resulting from NHTSA acknowledegement nef-150sm and 17v-414. Instead of re-constructing the description myself, I will just provide the language included in the recall notice because it is exactly the symptoms my truck experiences. I couldn't decribe it better if I tried. From gm recall notification n172085440 "condition: general motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2014 model year Chevrolet silverado ld and GMC sierra ld vehicles. These vehicles may experience a temporary loss of electric power steering (eps) assist followed by a sudden return of eps assist, particularly during low-speed turning maneuvers. The loss and sudden return of eps assist typically happens within a 1 second period and is caused by an electrical/software issue. If eps assist is lost and suddenly returned, the driver could lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: dealers will reprogram the eps module software. ".
On 02/12/2020, I was turning turning to park in a parking spot at work when the radio and other electrical components shut down, and the steering wheel jerked in the opposite direction. I temporarily loss control of my own steering wheel. This occurred 3 times while trying to park. In addition, a message about stabilitrack appeared. It is well known that gm has recalled over 1,700,000 vehicles with this same power steering issue stating that owners will lose control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. See NHTSA campaign number: 18v586. Gm's own number for this recall is 18289. However, gm has only included certain vehicles in this recall, mainly 2014 and 2015. My 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 is currently not included in gm's recall even though the same power steering problem is occurring. According to a notice published with the nhtsc, the trucks may experience a temporary loss of electric power steering (eps) assist followed by a sudden return of eps assist. The issue, gm says, occurs typically during low-speed turning maneuvers. If eps assist is lost and suddenly returned, the driver could lose temporary control of the steering wheel, increasing the risk of a crash. Gm says it first became aware of the issue in Feb. 2017 after receiving customer complaints related to loss of eps. Tests conducted between April and may found that some of the vehicles contained electrical issues that could cause loss of eps. The carmaker was to contact affected owners & dealers will perform a reflash of the eps module software. Gm stated that newer vehicles contained recalibrated software and will not have this issue. Gm is incorrect in it assessment since I have just experienced the same power steering issue in my 2016 sierra, & now the dealer does not want to repair the issue since there is no gm recall on 2016s. There is definitely a problem with power steering on 2016s.

When I tried to drive my truck I received the below error messages and lights on my dash board: steering assist reduced drive with care service trailer brake service esc brake system failure - 62 mph top speed abs check engine brake traction control I dropped the truck off at the GMC dealer for two days, I picked it up and it was fine. I was told it was a software update. Then 7 days later I had the same errors messages and lights on my dash board. And this time it was extremely hard to stop the truck. I needed to press down all the way to stop the truck.

When I am driving my truck, I will get notifications saying that there is a trailer disconnection issue when I don't even have a trailer connected. It also flashes an alert saying that the lane departure system and pedestrian sensor are being effected. As this is going on, the infotainment screen flashes on and off as well which is very distracting. They have continued to come on in cold weather after I have taken it to the dealership to be looked at. I don't know if this is a hardware or software problem but it needs to be addressed because it becomes both a large nuisance and safety hazards when you have errors messages and lights flashing while you're driving.
Tl the contact owns a 2014 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that the electronic power steering failed, which caused the steering wheel to jerk violently to the left when turning right. The dealer (wiers Chevrolet Cadillac GMC, 416 s halleck st, DE motte, in 46310, (219) 987-5555) indicated that a software update would not provide a permanent remedy; therefore, the manufacturer approved the replacement of the electronic power steering assist. In addition, the vehicle failed to start and stalled several times without warning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
I purchased my first new vehicle in oct of 2015. I've owned 4 vehicles since I've had my license, 2 dodges and 2 bmws. I chose a truck I've dreamed of having since I was 16. I'm currently 28. I chose the sierra denali. Not only was this my first new vehicle but this was my first truck and my first gm product of my life. Now I'm teetering on it being my last. Through the 14 months I've owned the vehicle (since 4 miles) I've had numerous issues. My front differential has been rebuilt not once but twice. My truck has 45k on it. It has never towed hauled or other wise performed a task requiring it's power other than normal driving. It has been babied. Cleaned washed oil changed tires rotated and 93 octane fill ups. Amongst other issues were the infotainment center freezing. Cvs axle shafts performing erratic along with bucking slamming and noises through the power train. A random leak in the lower oil pan that the dealer said was a manufacturer defect they were aware of. A airbag software safety recall and a shifting driver seat that tends to move a bit during cornering. Now to top all of those issues off in those 14 months I now have a leak the extends out from the edge about 5 inches from the rear windshield all the way from the driver side to passenger side. I'm not in bumper to bumper warranty. I was told 100 dollars and it will be fixed. It shouldn't have to be fixed. None of it should have. I have had less issues in all 4 of my last vehicles put together than this 1 vehicle I have owned for 14 months and I bought it new. This has been a big let down. A disappointment 12 years in the making apparently. One that has more than ruined my day. I honestly don't want this truck. It's scarred for life. That's obvious and not reversable. But now I'm under water on a loan for a truck that's not worth its weight in scrap metal. That's neither right nor fair.
