Transmission Not Go Into Gear Problems of GMC Sierra 1500

On Friday November 6th we were on our way home coming down 1960 east when we started to hear a noise coming from the truck. We could hear it loud and clear because the a/c is also out so we have been having to leave the windows down. It sounded like an old electric fan running. Then shortly after the truck started to jerk hard it felt like we had just been in an accident. The truck would not shift gears and we were in the middle of a very busy 1960 lucky we were close to home and where able to make it there after multiple attempts to get the truck going. My husband has some knowledge of cars and realized it was the transmission. This is a fairly new vehicle. How can it have such a major problem? when doing some research apparently this is problem that gm is aware of and have done nothing to fix. As I mentioned before the a/c condenser has a major leak and this is also a problem of gm vehicles. Basically we bought a brand new lemon. I'm thankful we were not on the freeway when this happened it could have been much worse outcome. For now we are with out a vehicle and can not afford to replace the transmission.

Transmission has failed from 4th gear up (3) times within 91,000 miles. When going at speeds more than 50 miles an hour, the transmission will break and lose forward motion causing a safety issue with oncoming traffic. The transmission was "rebuilt" at lafontaine GMC of highland, mi (2) times and they are telling me they are going to "rebuild" it a 3rd time. Just wanted to note safety issue so when this happens in the future I will have a legal avenue.

Truck will not change gears and sputtering. Bad gas mileage and not wanting to start.

Transmission changes hard when it shifts to another gear when I purchase the truck new I contact GMC they said that it was design to shift like that everyone that I know has a Sierra 1500 complains about how hard their truck shifts I have relatives and friends complains also. When it was under waranty they told me that the wrong tramsmission fluid was put in it from the factory ? my truck brand new.

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Sierra 1500. When the vehicle was placed into gear, the contact noticed that the gear selector was barely illuminated. The failure progressively worsened and the contact had to memorize in what gear the vehicle was placed. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 138,000.
