Brakes became very difficult to depress. Fortunately I was able to stop the vehicle in time to avoid a collision with stopped traffic. Power assist was replaced and brakes are operating fine. Learned through auto parts supplier and dealership that this failure on the Suburban has been very common.

When applying brakes, pedal seems to pulsate as if anti-lock is kicking in, at any speed, and difficult to stop vehicle.
Had panic stop- brake pedal went to floor would not skid tires and did not activate abs.
Vehicle pulls to one direction upon braking. . . Dealer has been unable to assertain the problem. They have called a service representative from GMC from the northeast region office and he is unable to located the problem. . This has been going on since July'00. The vehicle is now at the dealer( 7th time) and GMC is working in conjuction with their engineers to make repairs. They keep on blaming firestone (tires) for all the trouble. (tiresize: 245r17)( dot number: tire size: 245r17 ).
Consumer was traveling about 25mph, going down a hill, applied brakes and pedal moved. But, there was no reaction to the brakes. If brakes are not brought up and reapplied there is no braking.
Vehicle failed to stop and brake pedal was completely to the floor on 3 occasions.
A truck in front of me stopped when the traffic light turned yellow. I tried to stop and had plenty of time to stop. The brakes locked up (there was a slight noise of the brakes locking up) and I was surprised I was not going to be able to stop. I released the brakes to try braking again. I applied the brakes and they locked up again. To avoid rear ending the truck, I had to swerve between it and the car in the left turn lane. My passenger side rear view mirror made contact with the backside of the truck. My brakes finally caught when my Suburban was ahead of his truck. The pavement was wet but it was not raining.
When the brakes were applied in a panic stop pedal went to the floor, resulting in extended stopping distance.
Intermittently when the brakes are applied under normal conditions vehicle pulls either to the left or right. Dealer has attempted to correct the problem. Manufacturer has been notified, and agreed to trade vehicle back under the lemon law.
Abs brakes are locking up in wet conditions, and front brakes have completely worn out within 10,000 miles. Owner has taken in vehicle 5 times to 2 different dealers, but problem still exists.
My Suburban is experiencing loss of brakes. This is an intermittent problem that has happened 2 times. There is complete loss of all brake power/pressure when this happens. It has bee reported through internet bulletin boards this has happened on more than one vehicle. The GMC corp. Will not replace any parts to fix the problem since it will not fail when brought to the dealer.
: the contact stated while braking at slower speeds the abs on the vehicle activated. There is a NHTSA recall, # 05v379000 regarding the abs. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the year of the vehicle and the state is not included. The repairs have been made and the manufacturer has been alerted.
Applied brakes and pedal went to the floor. No pulsing action, no braking. Struck two veh in front of me.
Ea95026, poor brake performance: when applying the brakes in an emergency situation, pedal travels to the floorboard and the truck would not stop. This condition caused a rear end crash. This happens on any type of road surface and no inclement weather. Dealer was not able to duplicate this problem. Please provide any further information.
Every time vehicle is driven with the headlights on, headlights flicker on and go off. Vehicle has been taken to the dealership four times in a six-month period. Dealer was not able to fix the problem. Also, doors are warped/engine runs rough/replaced differential/brakes are locking up.
Consumer tried to apply brakes and found she had none. No accident/no injuries.
Vehicle was moving on the interstate while at 65 mph on cruise control. The automatic gear shift column was struck by the passenger and the transmission was sent into reverse. This action caused the brakes to lockup and the control mechanical lock on the wheel column was locked into a right hand turn with no way to control the vehicle. The vehilce started to skid out of control and then proceeded to roll over three times. All occupants were in saftey belts except my daughter who was int the back seat asleep. The vehicle was totally destroyed. It took resecue crews to remove myself the driver and daughter who was trapped in the back. We were transported via ambulance to a local hospital. All five passengers were released with only minor bruises and cuts. I would like to find out why the steering column lock and why a safety feature is not provided to keep the transmission from being accidently put into reverse while the vehicle is traveling in drive. Please help me find a solution to this potential problem.
Rear axle fell off of the vehicle while driving on a major freeway. When the axle fell off we lost complete braking capability. The vehicle was just released to us from the dealership for repairs to the same parts under warranty. This was the fifth time it was repaired under warranty for the same parts that failed.

Brakes deployed at will. . . Fail at will. . . . Sometimes fail to release, causing vehicle to become immobilized. . . . Strong burning odor. . . Scary noises and thumping.
Ongoing problem with abs system; whenever brakes are applied hard, they cause vehicle to wander. Dealer notified on two occasions, and problem cannot be resolved. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter before an accident occurs.
Noted car stopped at red light, started braking at around 300 feet, 35 mph, full abs, wet road, impacted rear at perhaps 10 mph. Just traded a Ford van without abs and am certain it would have stopped in that distance. Further note: the Suburban's tire pressure was 40 psi all four.
While driving at night & applied the brakes. The abs brakes felt funny. They failed to stop vehicle. Went over 40 foot embankment. The air bags failed to deploy when the front end nosed into dirt. Driver hit head on windshield. Was wearing seat belt.
Was traveling 25-30 mph and because of heavy traffic had stopped suddenly. Had applied brakes. Had no brakes. Could feel abs kicking in, but nothing happening. Vehicle was not slowing down. Turned vehicle & jumped curb & hit light pole. Air bag deployed. Vehcle finally stopped.
Brakes are unable to be repaired, have had 3 complete sets. Still not fixed.
I have had 3 sets of brakes. Now they are worn again, 32,000 miles, with cracked rotors. Dealer will not fix.
Consumer has noticed leaking of bearings and all 8 seals. Also when driving of gravel surfaces and applying brakes, the vehicle exceeds the normal stopping distance.
