Brake Disc Rotor problems of the 1999 GMC Yukon

Seven problems related to brake disc rotor have been reported for the 1999 GMC Yukon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 03/14/2008

Brakes make a grinding sound after I just changed them and they are scraping on the rotor and are causing grinding.

2 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2007

Another vehicle pulled out in front of me. I managed to avoid them despite my brake rotor failure. 1999 GMC Yukon denali - during maximum braking from 45 mph the left front brake rotor suffered a catastrophic failure. The rotor failure resulted in the vehicle suddenly surging to the right while braking. The rotor disk become completely separated from the hub mounting flange. The rotor was original from the factory with 95,000 miles on it. The truck had recently passed PA state inspection (August 2007) and a full brake job was done at that time. This included turning the rotors. A new rotor was installed during the repair after this incident.

3 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 04/08/2005

Rotors warped, replaced Jun 2001 at 10,000 miles, and again on Apr 2005, at 56,000, used under normal driving conditions.

4 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2004

The contact stated since purchasing the vehicle it has bucked while braking. It was as though the back brakes were working and the front brakes did not work. The vehicle was taken to the dealership multiple times, but they were unable to diagnose the problem. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic, and he changed the rotors. This did not repair the problem. Recently heard a pop, and when she tried to apply the brakes they went to the floor. She had to drive into a handicap sign to stop the vehicle. She was unable to turn the vehicle around to have it towed. It has not been to a dealer.

5 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 11/19/1999

Brakes pull hard to left. Salesman said it would "go away" after 1000 miles. It didn't. Had serviced. Still didn't fix. Made it worse. Front break pads are wearing also. Your database said the same/sinilar problem exists with suburban. No mention of Yukon.

6 Brake Disc Rotor problem

Failure Date: 09/01/1999

Master cylinder was replaced on two different occasions. Vehicle has been taken to dealer on six different occasions for brake problems. Dealer has provided repairs under warranty until last time. Consumer has had another mechanic to inspect brakes, and mechanic found that rotors were wearing out unevenly, causing other parts to damage. The brakes were poor and not safe.

7 Brake Disc Rotor problem

While driving on highway another vehicle was switching lanes. Consumer went to hit the brakes, and vehicle kept going, went into the median. Also, was pulsating when applying the brakes. Contacted dealer, who stated that the rotors were warped.
