Seven problems related to brakes failed have been reported for the 1999 GMC Yukon. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Complete brake failure when two metal lines ruptured causing a loss of hydraulic pressure in both circuits during a hard stop. Abs had not activated. The braking took place at low speed when a car ahead stopped suddenly pedal sank to the floor, and the cable-activated parking brake was then used to avoid a collision and get the truck to the side of the road.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Yukon. On April 20, 2009, the vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph. There had been no prior failures with the transmission since purchasing the vehicle used in January of 2009. In addition, there were alignment issues that caused the tires to explode, tie rod failure, brake failure, and the fuel gauge displays the incorrect amount of fuel in the vehicle. The failure mileage was 100,000. Updated 5/27/09 the upper and lower ball joints, lower ball joints, idler arm, steering gear, rack and pinion were all replaced. Updated 06/02/09.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Yukon. While attempting to slow down the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, the abs activated. The brakes failed and the stopping distance increased. The VIN is excluded from recall number 05068. The current mileage was 114,000 and failure mileage was 112,000.

Had taken vehicle to dealer for brake service on front disc brakes due to wear on disc. Work after 15000 miles had to be performed again due to disk wearing out. Consumer believed that brakes were not heavy enough for vehicle. Disc warped causing vibrations and brake failure. The disc was turned a t 15k miles and was replaced at 28k. Transmission does not hold on hills. Front end was leaking due to front pinion seal failure . .
While trying to stop on wet or slightly moist pavement brakes fail. The vehicle goes extended distance after applying brakes. The problem occurs intermittently.
