It is just like the the service bulletin out for the 2006 and later GMC sierra except it’s for a 2004 GMC Yukon slt 4x4 4. 8l. It is going into reduced engine power mode and it has to do with the throttle actuator control module. Throws code p2108.
My kids and I was on the interstate and all of sudden my Yukon reduce engine power. Dropping to 30 in a speed zone of 70. I was very afraid for our safety and appreciate there concerns for reducing engine power to save the truck, but that's very dangerous. So I paid to replace the throttle body and gas pedal cause that was the codes for the problem. But it's still doing the same thing and I don't have money to keep buying parts. Plus it a gm problem and I really need some help with the fixture. .
The instrument panel light indicating what gear the transmission is in is out and therefore driver cannot tell which gear the vehicle is in, and extreme safety hazard.
I was on my way home from work. I ended up getting just a few rain drops so I click my wiper switch one time, it didn't come on. ( puzzled ) so I repeated to get to water off window ,1 click at a time the wipers didn't come on until I was at high. Of course , now they are on high and rain is gone, now I can't get the blades to stop in the off position. Well, I had to pull over I couldn't concentrate on what just happened to my wipers? as well as drive. This happened on July 10, 2019. I've called GMC a couple times, 1st time they just closed next time I didnt transfer to service dept . I just think , there should be something to notify you , I just happened to get home before the storm hit. I was on a county road when it happened. Thank you for your time.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehicle started losing motive power. The check engine warning light and another unknown warning light were illuminated, and a message was displayed that the gas port was reducing power. On a separate occasion, the vehicle started to lose motive power and then the vehicle started to shake. The vehicle was losing power and shaking until the vehicle was turned off. The vehicle was restarted and drove normally for six months without failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with throttle body failure; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was repaired but the failure persisted three more times with different diagnoses. The vehicle was taken to other independent mechanics however, the cause for the failure was not yet determined. The vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. The dealer was not made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.
Our Yukon on numerous occasions will just display reduced engine power and speed will decrease rapidly. I have pulled off the road and turned vehicle off removed key waited a few minutes then started the truck and it may run fine or may just continue to have reduced engine power. Between the tow bills and shop fees I have spent more than the truck is worth. We have taken to the shop and spent over 5k for them to state the can not find an issue. They say there are no codes. Then it may or may not run normal for a short period and there is no pattern. It has on numerous occasions just completely shut down and therefore loss of power steering and brakes occurs. Making this very dangerous. The last time it happened I was on the highway traveling at 80 mph. The result could have been deadly. I am not sure why GMC has done nothing to fix this issue. I saw several other blogs with the same issue. I am the original and only owner of this truck and it has been well taken care of. I loved my truck up until these issues started, previous to this the truck had a parasitic draw that after 3 years my brother figured out not gm or any other mechanic. That was the temperature control module for those that may be experiencing this issue. Is there a way to encourage gm to do a recall? I now have a useless truck sitting in my driveway. It is not safe to drive.
Stability control disabled comes on with engine power reduced. This happened as I as driving in the highway. Speed drastically reduced form 65 to 10 mph. I could have been killed. Gm is aware of this problem and will not act until there's a fatality because of this issue. I am afraid to drive this vehicle. Nhtsa has received numerous complaints regarding this issue and has not acted. The electrical system is not correct -this is very dangerous.
Speedometer sticks at highway speeds and registers at least 20 mph higher than actual speed and needle fluctuates so you can not tell how fast you are going. Fuel gauge is inaccurate. Both are safety concerns. At 120,000 miles I am beyond gm's extended warranty. Should be recalled and fixed.
This is the 2nd gm all terrain vehicle I have owned that the speedometer quits working after 50000 miles . When I research on mine there are a bunch of owners that are complaining about the same thing. And it's the instrument panel that needs to be changed.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon. While the vehicle was in park, the rear air conditioner stopped blowing air. The contact, who was an independent mechanic, diagnosed that the electrical connection located behind a plastic panel in the hood latch was overheated by the electrical wires. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure was not remedied. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.
The instrument cluster is faulty do to battery drain. This problem persists with a majority of trucks and SUV's of the same generation as my 2004 GMC Yukon denali xl. The cost from the dealer to replace this part is approximately $2000. There are aftermarket instrument cluster to replace this part at a cost of all most $600. This requires programming by the dealer for a cost of another $500+ only to have the same issue repeat it self at later date.
Surge happens while driving, then engine light comes on, decreased engine power occurs, tracktion stability indictors comes on. Car looses power. I have to pull over off the road, put into park, cut ignittion off, wait a few minutes and then restart the car. This could happen several times while driving. The vehicle is in motion and this is a driving hazard and big safety issue, it has happened on city street and on a highway. It happens daily.
My 2004 Yukon has at least three major leaks in the brake lines caused by corrosion. Research found that this defect was identified shortly after the vehicles were sold new but refused to issue recalls. I was in a near accident when my brakes went completely to the floor suddenly. Also the stabilizer system fails without notice and the dash instrument cluster (gas gauge, temp gauge, voltage and oil pressure gauges works on and off.
The engine light constantly stays on and I've taken it to a mechanic but it comes right back on again. The gas gauge doesn't work properly. When you fill the tank to full the arrow only goes to the halfway mark.
Driving when entire instrument panel went black. Off/on at random. Knocking sound started about the same time. Took car in to be checked out. Was told brake lines were completely rusted, and needed a new transmission. We paid for repair of the instrument panel. Talked to our dealership, holman in cincinnati OH, about breaks. No recall listed. They have never told us the brake lines were rusted. Offered us $150 brake kit to do ourselves (cant do) or they can do it for $1500-2000. Can't afford. It sits in our driveway, epic fail GMC. We bought a Honda.
My husband and I purchased a 2004 GMC Yukon from a local dealership here in louisville kentucky in 2007 and not to long after purchasing the vehicle some of the gauges stopped working. My husband contacted the dealership and was told to bring the vehicle in to one of their service center which they looked at it and stated they couldn't find nothing wrong with it. My husband explained the gauges would sometimes stick/quite working while driving the vehicle and sometimes when starting the vehicle and he would sometimes have to tap on it to try to get it to work again. Time went on and it got worse and my husband took the vehicle to a certified local mechanic and he told him the instrument panel/cluster needed to be replaced. We paid for a replacement and shortly after the replacement it started doing the same thing the other panel did. All the gauges stopped working and we have to tap on it to get it to work and now it has gotten even worse and I feel that there should be a recall on these because why should we continue to spend our money on getting replacements and they do the same thing. There must be a defect in these panels. I have contacted gm regarding this issue and they stated there was a service warranty on the panel but it expired in 2011. I then stated that we didn't know anything about the service warranty because we never received anything in the mail and they stated the service warranty was mailed out to the previous owners of the vehicle and we must not have registered our vehicle correctly with the dmv (department of motor vehicle) which I don't see how that is possible when we receive a notice in the mail every year to renew the registration on the vehicle we are current every year so I don't understand why we didn't receive the notice regarding the service warranty in the mail.
Tl-the contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that the vehicle speedometer failed causing the contact to be unable to read the mph driven. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The manufacturer advised that the warranted speedometer cluster replacement ended in two thousand ten. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 105,000. Li.
Driving vehicle at 30 mph. Lost all power and engine. No brakes, no power steering, no dash lights, engine quit running, no exterior lights. Parked vehicle in parking lot. No power at all. After about 20 minutes of waiting vehicle started again and had minimal acceleration/power.
Tachometer gauge no longer functions, wrong speed reading on speedometer and oil pressure gauge reading too much pressure. Fuel gauge reading add fuel when I know it has more than "low". Funny how speedometer was pegged out when I was only going 60.
At approximately 1:54 pm I was leaving work and I didn't get about 1,000 feet when I began to see smoke coming from the center console area where the cigarette lighter was. I pulled over into a gas station and took the cup holders out trying to search where the smoke was coming from. I then saw smoke coming from the vents on the dashboard. I also saw smoke coming from the battery compartment under the hood. I opened the hood and more smoke with coming from the vent. I opened the passenger side door and saw that behind the center console just under the cd play, the wires were on fire and the fire continued to become larger. I called the fire department at 1:56 pm and again at 1:59 pm when they arrived and the entire dashboard was burning. The vehicle's dashboard was completely melted along with the controls above by the sunroof. The vehicle is a complete loss. The vehicle has been parked at my job for more than 6 hours before I took it to go home. I sustained smoke inhalation and heat burns on my face. I was transported to the local hospital, treated and release.
The instrument panel gauges will just go to zero as you're driving down the road. They may come back on in a few minutes or after you shut down the vehicle. All fuses are good. All indicator lights work I. E. Turn signals, high beam, & haz. During restart they flash as they would normally but the gauges may or may not come back on line. An intermittent problem.
While traveling on the freeway at approximately 70mph, the speedometer in the vehicle malfunctioned and began steadily decreasing until it reached 0. Luckily I had my gps to go by for my vehicle speed, otherwise I would have had know clue of how fast or slow I was going. This is a major safety concern and should be a recall on all vehicles regardless of mileage, or does someone have to die first!!.
Blower motor resistor failed in the truck. . When the car is off motor will run and eventually kill the battery. . . Made several attempts to fix it but the company no longer make this resistor because of the malfunction. . . So not years later still can't fix it. . Can't find the resistor and now I have no air no heat for 3 years now.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon denali xl. The contact stated that when the accelerator pedal was depressed during acceleration, the vehicle hesitated and the traction active warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the air filter failed and needed to be replaced, the bg fuel induction serviced needed to be done, the front brake pads and rotors failed and needed to be replaced, and the rear differential service needed to be done. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.
The speedometer will work sometimes but most of time it wont. Also the other gauges in dash board will quit working. The period of time of it not working has steadly increase. It has caused both my husband tickets or warnings because it does not work. The other gauges ( the oil, temp and rpm )are unreliable. I checked with a mechanic and he says this is common for the model I have. To repair they have to remove the dashboard.
My husband's 2004 Yukon denali caught fire while parked in the driveway of home. The vehicle had been sitting for nearly two hours before it spontaneously ignited. I called 911 while my husband took the hose and sprayed water on the fire, which was in the dashboard of the SUV. The fire department arrived a few minutes later and put the fire out. Fortunately, no one was injured, but it is unknown why the vehicle ignited and was on fire. I contacted GMC via online chat, and the representative said there are no recalls on the 2004 Yukon denali. After some preliminary searches online, I found numerous claims of the same thing occurring to other owners of Yukon and tahoe suvs in the u. S.
Reduced power indicator on information center comes on intermitantly, when it does, vehicles goes into default mode & can go max 30 mph (very dangerous, was almost rear ended). Never know when it might happen. You can pull over shut engine off sit for a little while & it will start up & run fine until the next time the reduced power light comes on. Have had it @ several shops & replaced throttle sensor, traced wires, replaced grounds, inspected harness but doesn't seem to help. I see on the online message boards there is a lot of problems that gm can't seem to find a fix for. It is very dangerous, someone is going to get killed.
There are several complaints, on the 2004 GMC denalis. It's like it starts slow your gages go out. You have no idea how fast you are going! then the oil, temp for engine, and transmission. Which I had to replace. Then the brakes get a mind of their own. Recently the radio & lights are acting up which is scary, I have a 7 yr. Old. The heat in the back doesn't work for her, so I have several blankets for her. The television quit long ago, it was one of the reasons we bought the car, so kids could watch television on long trips, or whenever. We paid a lot for this vehicle, I would think GMC would step up and do the right thing and correct the product they stand by,and are very proud of. I would love to just purchase a new vehicle. I do not have that luxury, I lost my job, we are pay check to pay check with my husbands income. I can't fix or replace this car, that I absolutely loved before all the malfunctions/defects. I have a garmin so I can tell my speed, and have to hit the side inside the car when the lights won't work. I pray, you will look into this matter before someone is seriously hurt, as so many have reported the same complaints. One gentlemen gave you a website I've seen myself of peoples complaints. I thank you for your time, and anything you can do to help us!!.
Rear bucket seat (drivers side) caught fire. Fire attributed to seat heater failure by each the 1) fire marshal, 2) GMC dealer and 3) geico. Car was unoccupied, parked for approximately 2 hours before returning to open car and find car seat on fire. Car seat was not used by any passengers for at least a week prior to the fire. There were only two passengers using the car during an out-of-town trip when the fire occurred on fourth day. Thus, car seat heater some how turned itself on, remained on, overheated, and caught seat cushion material on fire. Luckily, car was parked turned off completely (except for seat heater!), locked and unoccupied. Further, fire was discovered before spreading, engulfing car and endangering others in the busy school parking lot. Had the seat caught fire while someone was actually sitting in the seat and/or the car was traveling at highway speeds, this failure would have resulted in injuries and possible fatalities. Seat heaters should never risk causing fires and need to be investigated.
The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon denali. The contact was driving 30 mph when he noticed that the speedometer was providing inaccurate speeds traveled and reading a much higher speed than the contact was actually driving. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
2004 GMC Yukon xl. Gas gauge often reads incorrectly, many times pointing way past full or straight down. The volt meter has begun reading incorrectly, showing in excess of 20 volts when driving and in excess of 16 volts when stopped with the engine off (key on). The speedometer has started to read incorrectly often reading 0-10 mph when traveling at 30-40 mph (gauged by traffic). Gm did look at fuel gauge issue 2 years ago, but didn't fix the problem.
2004 GMC Yukon xl denali - speedometer does not register the correct speed.
Fuel gauge reading inaccurately. Needle went way past the full mark into the blank area on the bottom of the gauge. Also, the speedometer was reading 120mph when I was pulling out of my driveway. I stuck at 70mph when I was stopped.
2004 GMC Yukon denali xl started having problems with the tachometer not working followed by the oil pressure gauge fluctuating from low to high and then staying pegged at high. The voltage meter is reading high even though while it was reading high the mechanic checked it and his gauge said it was fine. We hear a clicking in the dashboard the dealership said they checked it but it is still happening. We are on our 3rd ride leveling compressor and we don't use it to hall a trailer. What will be next. We are concerned since the speedometer and gas gauge could be next.
While driving multiple times on the interstate doing 75 mph. The speedometer just goes down to 25 or 30 mph for a little while. Then to zero and stays there. I have to shut engine off to reset speedometer, then it works for another couple hundred miles. This has to be unsafe. I have 95000 miles now.
