36 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

We too have had the speedometer acting up. Usually around 100km. Some days it works but lately most days it does not work. Going to get a new cable for it to see if it will change the problem.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2009

Speedometer operates erratically if at all. Vehicle has 100,000 miles and gm will only replace the cluster if under 70,000 miles. This is a huge safety risk.

40 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

I own a 2004 GMC Yukon xl denali and the instrument cluster as they call is broken. GMC know of this and it effect thousand of vehicle that they make. Including envoy, tahoe, Yukon, and denali. The problem is that I don't know how fast I'm going, if my tank is full or empty or temperature or my engine/transmission. I almost became a victim, my cluster recently became broken after an almost fatal accident. I was driving to work on the highway and my vehicle cut off with me next to a big rig. I'm trying to control a big suburban and without power for my power steering the vehicle was a bitch to steer. The problem was that when I left the house my fuel said 3/4 and 15 miles later I'm on the side of the road wondering why my truck wont start. Come to find out, I ran out of gas with mt gauge still on 3/4. Now my speed is erratic and I have no clue how fast I am going if it were not for my gps unit. Anyway I called them and they said its a warranty issue and if I'm over 80,000 mile they cant help. Damn the warranty this is a law suit waiting to be filed. All its going to take is a poor soul that has the same problem and find them self 6ft under.

41 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2009

The speedometer is erratic, usually showing 130 mph. The oil gauge and gas gauge have now stopped working as well. We can only gauge our speed by using a gps. It has been happening for about a year and we have over 100,000 miles on the vehicle.

42 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2009

Flashing abs light and then alternating flashing tc (traction control) light. Then the vehicle locks up the left side front brake and pulls the vehicle into on coming traffic. Happens intermittently. Cause by the wheel speed sensor failing on the vehicle. Replacement of part removes issue.

43 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/08/2009

I have a 2004 GMC Yukon that has an erratic speedometer. At times, it will freeze up. Other times it will display the incorrect speed including freezing at 0mph. It is my understanding that this is a very common complaint by owners of vehicles containing these types of faulty instrument clusters. My vehicle has over 80,000 miles on it and is not covered by any sort of GMC warranty and/or replacement plan. This equipment poses a safety threat as I cannot determine the speed of my vehicle and more accurately interpret following distance from other vehicles.

44 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/25/2008

The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon denali xl. The contact stated that the abs engages at inappropriate times. In addition, the speedometer displays inaccurate readings. When the vehicle is stopped, the speedometer dial displays 50 or 90 mph. The dealer stated that there were no recalls for this failure and the contact would have to pay for the repairs. The failure mileage was 57,600.

45 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2008

Speedometer failed. Unsafe situation. Speedometer is currently registering erroneous readings. Gm has issued a service bulletin on this problem and is replacing speedometers in vehicles with under 70,000 miles. My 2004 GMC has 88,000 miles and is not covered by their current campaign. Speedometer indicates 60mph while in park.

46 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/16/2008

Speedometer gets stuck between 50-60 mph when car is off - fluctuates and can't determine rate of speed when driving.

47 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2008

The speedometer on my 2004 GMC Yukon xl denali has stopped working altogether. It stays pegged at 110mph. It never works correctly.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2008

First the airbag warning light came on. This has been an ongoing issue since 2008. My speedometer registered the wrong speed. My settings for the seat and mirrors quit working over time. Hot air would come out of my vents when the air conditioner was on randomly. Radio, navigation, heat, air conditioner and mirrors would turn on/off randomly without touching controls. The last 3 years went through 3 batteries in 3 years. Tests showed at least 5 things are actively draining battery in the fuse box. Issues happened mostly when car was on but mirrors would randomly move when car was not on, very creepy.

49 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/17/2007

2004 GMC Yukon xl denali system stabilization disabled warning light intermittently comes on. The dealer cannot repair this issue because there are no diagnostic codes in the car computer. I have taken the truck to the dealership with the warning light on, but still no error codes. Onstar runs diagnostics and reports no errors and tells me to drive to the nearest dealership because the vehicle is unsafe. This first occurred in December while the truck was still under warranty, now several trips to the service shop and it still is coming on. I am working with GMC customer support to try to resolve the issue, but to date they are saying they can't fix it because there are no diagnostic codes. I have asked them if the truck is safe to drive with warning light on, but they cannot assure me that it is. They refuse to document anything in writing about the safety of the truck. To date there have been no accidents nor injuries, but I have lost all confidence in the vehicle as I was told the stabilization system was mandated by the government and it must be operational. What recourse do I have to insure the truck is safe? why can't they replace computer modules until there is a resolution? the truck did not do this for the first 35 months I owned it, driving the same exact roads that the warning flashes on now.

50 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/02/2006

Erratic speed shown on speedometer. Shows zero at one time and then read max out at 120. Took it to have repaired and was told that they had had numerous others with the same problem. Cost to repair $600!!! I found a website with 209 posted complaints of the same problem. This is clearly a safety issue that needs attention. With a possible interaction with the cruise control not to mention inaccurate speed.

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2006

I have noticed several times that my speedometer will stick or stop working all together. After searching on the internet, I see that many other people are having the same problem with their Chevrolet and GMC trucks and light duty trucks.

52 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/20/2006

It is funny we have had two GMC Yukon xl in our family and the speedodimeter has stop working in both. There must be a problem with theses. Please let me know if there is a recall and why not? it seems from what we were told at the dealership that this is a problem. It happens when the cars just go out of warranty.

53 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2006

Speedometer very erratic.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2006

While driving, the speedometer on my 2004 GMC Yukon xl denali fails. It will either read 0 - 5, or 70-100. I can't tell how fast/slow I am going. When calling the dealer, I was told it was not under warranty, and will cost $500 - 700!!! this is a safety issue, and after researching, have found out that many, many, many people are experiencing this. . . Please force a recall? I can't afford this repair, nor do I think any of us should have to pay for it when it is obviously a faulty part from the manufacturer. . .

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2006

My 2004 GMC Yukon started having speedometer troubles a few months ago. Sometimes it would work just fine, but sometimes it would read 120 mph when I was parked, or sometimes it would read 0 mph when I was going about 65 on the highway. Some days it would work just fine, other days, it was very off. It got to where I could not rely on my speedometer to tell how fast I was going. I had to use a gps to get my speed.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 06/10/2006

First my oil gauge started giving false readings on my 2004 GMC denali, I could live with that. Then my speedometer readings are all over the place. . . All the time with different readings. I am scared for my safety and the safety of others. From reading online this is a very common problem on GMC vehicles and I feel something should be done by GMC to remedy the problem!!!.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2006

My 2004 GMC Yukon has been taken to several GMC service centers to try and diagnose several electronic issues. 1. The radio and ac unit will turn on for no reason and both units are extremely hot to the touch. 2. The front dash resonates when the vehicle is at a slight incline or decline when the ac unit is on. 3. The speedometer would occasionally stop working after running the vehicle for about 30 minutes yet the dealership was never able to duplicate. It has now stopped working all together.

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2005

"stability system disabled" was displayed prior to the brakes being engaged without driver input. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a 'yaw sensor' replaced. The problem returned within 20 miles. A second sensor was replaced along with reprogramming. The problem continues. Dealer states "gm has told us to do nothing more". No further explanation is offered by the dealer or gm "customer assistance". I believe that a vehicle that activates brakes on dry pavement without the driver's foot on the pedal is dangerous.

59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/04/2004

The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon denali xl. When the contact started the vehicle, the tire service monitor indicator illuminated. There was no failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that they were unaware of how to repair the failure. The vehicle has not been repaired. The manufacturer could also not assist. The failure mileage was 10 and current mileage was 53,000.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/15/2004

The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the rear seat radio function was not functioning. The contact noticed the console was extremely hot. The dealer was made aware of the failure but a diagnostic test was not performed. Also, the contact stated that the passenger side daytime running headlight bulb was replaced three different times. The contact noticed the light bulbs that were removed were black and appeared melted on the bottom. The vehicle was not repaired for the radio failure. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 60.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2003

Ever since I purchased my 2004 Yukon xl in Dec. 2003 the stability trac system has been disabled. The digital read out just blinks disabled. My local dealers keep telling me that gm is aware of the problem, but can't give me any answers. You would think someone would know something by now. The reason I purchased the Yukon with the stabili-trac was for the safety of my family. I spent alot of money to buy the vehcile and now feel cheated due to not having what I really purcahsed the Yukon for.
