1 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/19/2017

Persistent "ticking" lifter upon start of a cold engine. Slight loss of power until the engine finally warms and the ticking subsides. This problem occurs in both warm and cold weather but is worse during cold weather. When I asked the local gm dealer about a solution, they described a potential repair; a baffle may be installed in the oil pan to correct the problem of oil draining out of the top side of the motor. This indicates to me that gm has recognized a design flaw in this motor (the 5. 3l with active fuel management and "flexfuel" option) though the did not offer to perform the repair for no cost.

2 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2011

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled after the brakes seized independently. The dealer diagnosed that the vehicle would need a new engine. The manufacturer was notified, but denied any assistance with repairs to the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 100,000.

3 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2007

The contact owns a 2007 GMC Yukon xl 1500. The vehicle has had multiple failures. While driving 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled and shortly afterwards, the power steering and brakes failed. After the first failure, the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that the software in the computer system needed to be updated. After the vehicle was repaired, the failure recurred six months later at the same speed. The vehicle was not towed on this occasion because the contact allowed the vehicle to sit for a couple of minutes. The engine restarted and the contact was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer. They attempted to update the software again; however, the failure recurred less than one week later. The dealer updated the software for the third time, but the failure continues to recur. The dealer has been unable to permanently repair the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000 and current mileage was 28,000.
