13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/16/2016

While I was driving the stabilitrak off light flashed on the dashboard, including the traction control off. This has shut down my car on the highway several times since 2016. When I took it to the dealership, it would reset itself and the codes would go away temporarily. The dealership recommended to change the engine control module and cables. I had to get towed off the highway as this happens so randomly. The repair shop says that it is a mystery to them as they have called their GMC specialty technicians for advice. Finally, I went online and started a forum to see if anyone else is having these issues that no one can seem to fix. This is a known issue several similar stories car forums/ GMC/ GMC envoy xl". I am surprised this is not a recall and should be immediately. Changed sensors on tires that weren't the issue since the indicator light still comes on. I have pictures and videos of the indicator lights flashing and the car shutting off. I am not able to drive my truck as soon as it is turned on all othe lights are flashing stability link/ engine/ airbag/ brakes. It is ridiculous can someone please contact me. This problem is not only with me but several other who has done nothing wrong.

When driving down the road the engine light in my denali comes on and engine power is reduced to a slow speed where I have to pull over and shit the vehicle off. After doing so for 5 minutes or more, I cut my vehicle back on and it will drive normally with engine light still on. It has done this numerous times, sometimes 5+ times in one day. I have tried taking it and getting it fixed but no gm dealer can figure out the issue. This is unsafe especially when I am driving much less with my family in the car with me. Please help me get this issue fixed gm doesn't seem to want to fix their issue.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/09/2015

Stab, abs light and engine lights either going on one at a time or simultaneously. Car wouldn't start & when it did all of the dashboard gauges were at "zero" car seemed off but drive-able--gas, mph, rpm, gas/oil gauges remained at zero while driving. Later that day when car was restarted-the gauges were at normal readings. Stabiltrack light keeps going on & off. Electrical doesn't work well, almost every power door has failed & actuator has been replaced, rear back hatch door will not open & we have no access to our cargo/trunk area. Keyless entry works occasionally. Interior and exterior chrome handles have sharp edges.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/16/2015

This is another incident that occurred the same week as my last complaint. While driving home from lunch I slowed the vehicle as I was going down a hill, this did not require any use of the accelerator pedal. Upon slowing down my vehicle displayed the following messages: "service traction control", "service stabilitrack", "reduced engine power". The SUV would not accelerate over 15mph requiring my to pull to the side of the road. The vehicle shook violently until I was able to put it in park and turn off the engine. After 10 minutes of sitting on the side of the road I stared the engine again. The SUV started right up but the "check engine" light remained on until the following day. Engine codes lead to a faulty throttle body position sensor which was replaced after the incident on 7/13. I took my vehicle to the GMC dealer today who informed me of the same problem yet again. These are either bad parts or a some bigger gm issue.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

While driving to work on the interstate I approached slow moving traffic. The SUV started right up but the "check engine" light remained on. This was a terrifying experience on a busy stretch of hwy 88 outside of chicago. I hope others do not have to go through this experience.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2015

Traveling at about 25 mph in a residential neighborhood, the engine and stabilitrak lights came on and power abruptly cut out. Luckily no one was behind me and I was safely able to pull to the side of the road. I can only image what might have happened if this had occurred on a busy freeway or a crowded intersection.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/04/2014

This has now happened several times since, at no particular speed. I will be driving and all of a sudden the stabilitrak lights and traction control lights come on, and the engine begins to run very hard and will not accelerate very quickly and cannot reach full capacity. This is somewhat scary as it has happened on the highway several times, as well as just driving around my residential area, always with my kids in the car. Usually once I turn the car off and leave it for a little bit, then restart it, the lights are off except the engine light will stay on. It seems to me that many people are having the same issue with this model and that GMC should be taking this safety concern very seriously as not being able to accelerate on the freeway is definitely a huge safety issue.

21 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2014

I have just read a few other complaints about an issue I am having now, and have had 3 times in the past. While under normal driving conditions, I have had my SUV become very sluggish and difficult to drive. Lights come on say loss of power, stabilitrac problem etc. The first time this happened, I was visiting orlando florida. I took the SUV to a dealer, and they said there was an issue with the ecm and reprogrammed it. I left back the next day for atlanta. Nearly 80 miles away in ocala florida, it started doing this again. I called a tow truck, and had it taken to an ocala dealership. They in turn told me it was a bad ecm, and after spending an entire day in ocala, I was back on my way to atlanta. Several months later, I had this occur again. Once again I had it taken to a dealership in atlanta. They ran a computer diagnosis on it, and said they had no idea why it was diagnosed as an ecm problem, as the code coming up was due to a problem with the sensor in the floor board that reads the distanceof the gas pedal from the floor board. As it is a drive by sensor vs drive by wire. They repaired this, and although I felt it should have been covered under warranty, even though I was out of warranty at the time, the first two incedents that were supposedly diagnosed wrong were done so while under warranty. They ended up cutting the costs in half. I had no choice, as I needed my vehicle back. Now it has occured the forth time. I have resorted to the internet to see if other are having the same problem. What I'm finding through this research, it sounds as if many have had the same issue, and it seems to be an issue with the throttle body. While researching, I was alerted to this site, thus the reason I'm posting here. Maybe something can be done about this issue, as it seems this happens quite often, and GMC is keeping it under wraps.

22 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

Every couple days when I start the vehicle the starter seems to keep trying to restart after the car is running I usually just tap it to turn over but it continue to turn itself over on its own causing grind noise. Very unusual. Seems like a malfunction. Not sure how to explain it doesnt happen everyday but it happens enough I need to get make a complaint its not normal.

23 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2013

2007 Yukon xl - traction control came on causing a reduction in power while traveling. This is a safety concern that should be addressed by general motors. 24 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2013

While picking up my children from school the engine started backfiring, pulled the car over and put into park idle completely unstable, traction control service light came on engine light came on. Hard shift on transmission. Totally disappointed. Took it to the dealership for a diagnosis they say the lifters are bad and are no longer covered under warranty. Quoted me 2700. 00 to replace 2 lifters so not acceptable this car does not even require a tune up until 100000 miles. Explained that to the service rep and he came back with a different quote telling me they would be willing to cover half. Really why would you offer to pay half right off the bat. I believe they are aware that there is a problem and trying to cover it up. My brother in law has a year newer model and just had the same issue repaired last month. They also paid half for his. How ironic is that. I dont believe the owners of these vehicle should be responsible for a faulty part on an engine gm should be! there are many post on the internet of other owners experiencing similar problem this motor needs to be recalled.

25 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2013

My wifes 2007 Yukon xl had a message that stated that the traction control was off and a reduction in power message while traveling on the interstate highway going 65 miles an hour during rush hour. When this message came on the Yukon came to a very dangerous reduction in speed and was very close to getting rearended by the vehicles behind her. She was able to pull over to the shoulder and was able to restart the engine and the message reset but came back on soon after she got back up to speed and the truck shut down again. I have since replaced the throttle body assembly and checked all ground straps replaced the battery and have checked the harness. The issue has continued and since my vehicle is out of warrenty it is getting very expensive to start replacing parts on the vechicle just to have it do the same thing. According to the dealership there are no recalls but there are several forums on line with people all over the united states that have the same problem with there gm products. This is a very serious safety issue that needs to be looked into, before somebody gets hurt or killed. Gm needs to recall their products that are involved and repair them. -.

26 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2013

Roughly 30 times since March my 2007 GMC Yukon xl 5. 3 slt has had the dreaded stabilitrack off, service stabilitrack, reduced engine power problem. You can be driving along at various speeds and the error will come on and you will be completely unable to accelerate. Leaving a very dangerous situation for my family. It has happened when pulling a camper and without pulling anything either. Gm refuses to help the many families having the same problems.

27 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/16/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Yukon denali. The contact stated that the stability trak warning light illuminated as the vehicle began to lose power. The engine power reduced warning message was also displayed. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and the throttle sensor was replaced but to no avail. The dealer then replaced the brake lamp, but that also did not remedy the failure. The dealer also replaced the throttle body but that also did not correct the failure. The failure mileage was 126,000 and the current mileage was 128,000. Updated 04/02/lj.

28 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2012

While driving in the city, my truck was driving fine. Then the stabilitrak came on. When it came on the engine slow down, and almost came to a complete stop while driving on a major road where the speed limit is 55. I was able to pull over and turn the vehicle off. I was able to get it to start and call the GMC dealer, told them what the problem was, and they asked could I bring the vehicle in to see what the problem was. After they service the vehicle, they said that the stabilitrak needed to be replaced. I hadn't even had the vehicle for a full year. Before I left the dealer I asked could I still drive the vehicle, they said that I could. So I continue to drive the vehicle. One day while drive the vehicle, it moved forward while my foot was on the brake and shut off. I tried to immediately start it cause I was behind another car at a light. I was glad that it didn't hit another car. It would not start immediately. Maybe two minutes it started and when I put it in drive and press the gas it took off fast. While driving, the stabilitrak light comes on and the engine power is gone. If I am not able to pull over, the speed will drop below 20 mph. Sometimes the vehicle will take off, with just a little bit of gas. Help am scared that it might take off and hit someone or shutoff and hit someone. This is a dangerous problem, that I feel GMC should look into before some dies or really get hurt.

29 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2012

I have had my vehicle for about 4 years now. I haven't had any issues with it up until July of last year (2014). I experienced my car jerking erratically and had to pull over. The car lost speed and could not accelerate. I had taken it to a mechanic who then said I needed a new transmission. I have had the transmission replaced. About 6 months later the jerking started again on and off, no loss of speed and it would only jerk going form first gear to second. I have not worried about it until now because the car would only jerk every so often. Now my traction control and stabilizer service warning message pops up. I have taken it to several places I have been told that I needed a throttle body, abs module and both are not cheap to fix they all want to charge me $500- $1200 to fix the problem. I began researching and see that the issue I am having may be due to a manufacturing issue. I plan to take it to another mechanic before I start paying for more costly repairs. If for some reason this is a manufacturing issue, these vehicles need to be recalled before a serious accident happens.
