The car is by hard shifting. The dealership found, “the trans to have a shudder and debris in the trans fluid indicating torque converter failure recommend replacing trans due to torque converter failure sending debris through the pump and valve body. ” the first time we brought the vehicle into the dealership they just replaced the fluid and didn’t inspect for failures. The dealership now did and if the torque converter fails the car won’t drive, if I’m on the freeway that could cause a crash or worse.

While driving my children to practice my vehicle jerked us forward in a violent motion as if another car hit us and there was no one on the road. Afterwards the car slowed to about 5-20miles an hour and would not drive any faster. I stopped at the nearest intersection and the car would not move. I turned off the ignition and turned on again and was able to get out of the road to safety. This is a serious issue and I have already been to the mechanic to have the torque converter replaced. I have complained several times to no avail about this issue.

Faulty torque converter.
Vehicle began to shudder and jerk upon acceleration at 30k. Dealership changed fluid. At 60k vehicle continued to shudder and jerk upon acceleration and lurch forward or backward although brake was depressed. Initial, brief diagnoses reveals a bad torque converter. This issue was noted in 4 TSB. TSB id #pip5337k, TSB id #pip5337f, TSB id #16-na-014, and TSB id #pip5337h. Now that my factory warranty has expired, gm maintains no responsibility for this problem-- although they saw it while covered under factory warranty for this same issue. Additionally, there is a current class action law suit with gm regarding this issue. The shuddering, shaking, jerking and hesitation is related to internal issues within the transmission and/or torque converter causing friction surfaces, hydraulic systems, and gears to not function properly, and resulting in metal shavings being circulated throughout the transmission. Over time, damage to the transmission and torque converter occurs. Consumers face escalating repairs that can include flushing the transmission of metal shavings caused by the defective transmission operation, and which eventually necessitate the replacement of components such as the torque converter, valve body, or the entire transmission. As such, the transmission defect endangers the drivers and passengers of the vehicles, and diminishes the value of the vehicles. Furthermore, the dealership acknowledges that metal shavings due to friciton could have passed through the system causing further damage but will not remove the transmission for full and throrough diagnoses.
We were on our way back from pittsburg, PA to maryland and the transmission started slipping when we stopped in kent island at chick fil a. The vehicle stopped moving completely and would not move forward as we were turning into the drive thru. We had to have the vehicle towed to a GMC dealership in easton, MD. Upon their evaluation of the vehicle, we were told that the torque converter came apart and damaged the transmission. When I asked how and why the torque converter came apart, they stated that they would have to take the entire engine apart to figure that out. We were told by the GMC dealership that our 2016 GMC Yukon xl now needed a new transmission. We purchased this vehicle in December 2015 (brand new). Because our power train warranty expired at 60,000 miles, it was not covered. The new transmission costs us $5300+. We were shocked that this took place, as this was purchased new and we have kept up on all the maintenance. It is very disturbing to have purchased a new transmission for a vehicle that is only 4 years old. In doing some research, this seems to be an ongoing issue for GMC. A recall should be issued and a refund should be issued to those who have paid out of pocket for this expense. I do thank the GMC dealership in easton, MD for quickly repairing our vehicle, especially since we had an upcoming trip. Ladonna was wonderful and I commend her and the entire dealership for handling things swiftly.
Vehicle having issues with jerking and acceleration while in motion happened to vehicle in all settins highway street hills flat surface roads and turning. Took vehicle to be serviced notified by GMC dealer that torque convertor crumbling inside of 2016-2017 Yukon receommended to replace transmission due to crumblimg and issues caused by crumbling . Crumling not from accident or wear or tear in vehicle operations it appears to be a design flaw/manufacturer defect. GMC will not ackowledge issue or failure. Online reaserached provided shows multiple failures of this issue torque convertor repalcement part $500 new transmission replacement is $5634. 00 contacted GMC headquarters, customer service an dealership with no resolution. Dealership refuses to provide documents until I pay for repairs. Original estimate cost of $5634. 00 now escaleted to 6300. 00 for a repalcement part that cost approx $500. Unethical, predatory, unfair.
Instructed GMC dealer to perform 90,000 mile transmission maintenance (as per GMC manual: "change automatic transmission fluid, if equipped. If filter is serviceable, change filter"). GMC dealer decided to perform transmission flush instead which does not include a filter change. Within short period of time, transmission started to shudder when in 3rd and 4th gear. Dealer insists this has nothing to do with service they performed and told me there is a known problem with the torque converters. Dealer stated on the phone "we do 2 or 3 of these a week. . . Often on vehicles with only 20,000 miles". A quick search on the web for gm 6l80 transmission problems will show all of the owners with similar torque converter issues. Dealer gave rough estimate of $1700 to replace torque converter.
Vehicle stopped for traffic light on a city street intersection, would not progress. Had to be towed. Transmission went out & were told that this model, year and engine had a faulty transmission computer which led to internal pump failure, affecting performance of torque converter.

Tl the contact owns a 2017 GMC Yukon. While attempting to pull out into traffic, the transmission suddenly slipped and the vehicle made a high pitched humming sound. The contact took the vehicle to hilton head Buick GMC Cadillac (located at 1090 fording island rd, bluffton, SC 29910, 843-815-1500) where it was diagnosed that the torque converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired because the dealer was unable to get the part from the manufacturer. The dealer was unable to get confirmation as to when the part would be provided. The contact attempted to call the manufacturer, but was unable to speak with anyone. The approximate failure mileage was 96,700.

Vehicle shudders when shifting in lower gears. Possible torque converter or other transmission problem.
Brake lights & torque converter 2016 Yukon denali. The brake light is out on the passenger side. I brought it to the dealership, and it is within 2 weeks of the warranty expiring. They had to order the part because there's a national backorder for the assembly. So clearly I'm not the only one. Did some research and this is apparently an ongoing problem. This vehicle has been a hassle from the start. I'm beginning to believe there is an electrical issue as well. I had a battery issue that the dealership couldn't figure out even after showing them the onstar alert. Originally I was told onstar was probably just sending it as a mileage alert. Turns out after I insisted they put the vehicle on a machine and it showed the battery was indeed faulty. Multiple things have gone out on a vehicle with barely 30,000 miles on it. The torque converter is also a major concern because it shed metal pieces with the car having less than 20,000 miles they only drained the transmission fluid because that's what the bulletin told them to do. How is this not going to happen again? my Yukon drove like a lawnmower vibrating and hopping. This is the worst vehicle I've ever purchased, and with the issues that keep piling up it looks like we aren't anywhere near the bottom of the problems.
I have only owned this car since 3/29/19 and several times now my Yukon's check engine light has came on after the transmission bucks, jumps or jerks hard, not sure what to call it but it bucked or shoved my car forward when trying to slow down or stop (not pressing gas pedal). This could be dangerous as it interferes with trying to stop the vehicle. It was such a hard jolt that it for a minute I thought another car rear ended me. This has happened at least twice after I pressed the brake to begin slowing down as I was preparing to pull into a parking lot, I was probably going around 20mph. It also happened twice while accelerating onto a road, probably going 35 mph and just felt a jolt like something kicked my car forward suddenly. I've been told that the jerking problem is related to issues with the transmission, possibly the torque converter and causes gears not to function properly. I'm going to put in my most recent date that this happened on your form but it's happened more than once.
The 8 speed automatic transmission on my GMC Yukon denali has a slippage issue that has persisted in our vehicle for a while unresolved. Gm has replaced torque converter, module and now they are claiming through dealer that the issue resides with at fluid. This slippage is bad because car jerks and sometimes hard. This issue needs to be addressed by gm as they know they have issues with this 8 speed at. The issue happens at stops and at slow speeds.
Vehicle sputters when driving off from a start or accelerating while driving also when coming to a complete stop, after being stop it feels like the torque converter is not in sync with the rest of the transmission making it feel like someone hit you from behind took it to my local dealer they performed a transmission flush and a reflash of the computer it seemed to fix the problem but came back after about a month or so, dealer stated that another recall was coming in March of 2019 (still waiting) that was going to solve the problem. Gm needs to address this problem with the powert train believe the affected years for GMC Yukon is 2015, 2016, 2017 there is a class action lawsuit out there about this. Good luck everyone.
A year ago, I was at service at the same dealer with a transmission problem(torque converter) with my GMC Yukon xl 2015. Warranty transmission was made 08/2017. On 10/18/18, in the city of atlanta GA on highway 400, the car began to twitch when you press the gas and vibrate strongly, uttering sounds of howling, driving was not safety!!! re-issue repair from diller carl black Buick GMC roswell GA.
I give!!! now break lights not working!!! right break light is out and left driver is intermittent. Vehicle has 37k on it and was just picked up from the dealer after having 1 of many issues through the past year rectified and now this! this is a significant safety hazard and could tremendously injure someone. Right now my car cannot even pass inspection due to the faulty equipment installed by the manufacture that is a danger to my safety. I have owned many GMC's (6 total) through the years and this being the worst!! the latest, I have had the torque converter replaced in Aug 18 - due to shuddering and vibration. Then the steering column replaced due to popping , back hatch hinge replaced due to popping and malfunction, back glass door rubber gasket replaced due to leaking, sharkfin antenna replaced due to leaking, sunroof gasket replaced due to leaking, new tires at 500 miles due to excessive vibration. Back door adjusted due to slamming, and additional slight issues. The radio has a constant glitch on the screen since day one that after being taken in numerous times, of course the dealer cannot replicate the problem and keeps performing a flash update which never helps and as soon as I drive off it glitches again. I have contacted gm regarding the brake lights, radio, and now my passenger step is malfunctioning not to mention a recall was just released on the power steering. Will the repairs ever end? guess once I trade it in on another manufacture as this will most likely be the last GMC I will ever purchase!! I do not have time to live my life at the dealer for a high end purchase that is the worst mistake ever!! not to mention being a safety hazard!!!.
Tl-the contact owns a 2016 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated while driving at low or high speeds, the vehicle would violently shake, feeling like it was going to fall apart. The check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to cappellino Buick GMC (5411 transit rd, buffalo, NY 14221) where it was diagnosed with a tcc (torque converter) shudder failure and a transmission flush was completed. The dealer advised the contact to drive for 200 miles to correct the failure but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where another transmission flush was completed. The contact was also informed that the sheet metal on the cross-member was causing the vibration. The cross member was repaired. After, the repairs the inside cabin was uncomfortable, with uneven pressure and a high velocity vibration. The vehicle has had several transmission flushes at cappellino Buick GMC and west herr Chevrolet of williamsville (8040 transit rd, williamsville, NY 14221). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a claim was filed. The contact was compensated for the failure however the failure has continued. The contact stated that the vehicle was currently at west herr as the vehicle was stalling. The rpm's increased and the vehicle . The traction and check engine warning lights illuminated. The failure has not been diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure was 42,241. Aa.
At 76,000 miles the transmission began to shudder violently and hestitate. Dealership GMC wants me to spend 400 on a fluid upgrade and hope it fixes it if not, I will have to buy a new updated torque converter because they shrewdly took the drivetrain warranty down to 60000 miles months before I bought new.
I have had issues with the transmission and power of the car for over two years. I have contacted GMC and have followed everything that GMC have requested for me to do with a vehicle. I have taken the car to four different dealerships, have had everything done with it from flushing it three to four times and have had torque converter replaced the control valve body replace. Recall for the brake pedal was also done. After everything the car is in worst condition at the moment.
The transmission or torque converter are shuddering how do we fix, how do I protect family, will the transmission fall out on highway can I keep driving and be safety with family?.
Electrical issues: while driving the information panel go's blank. We have experienced this twice while driving, we lose the speedometer, tech, and everything on the display panel. Radio, skips channels even after the switch was replaced. Drive train: down shifts abruptly while accelerating onto interstate on ramps, either lunging forward or lunging backward. Been in the gm shop three time to try and fix issue. There have been bulletins issued to try and fix without success to-date. They are aware that is a problem, because Ford and gm on the 2018's, I was told by the sales persons that this issue was fixed. I am aware of the chevy transmission issue and I am concerned that this maybe a similar safety concern. As far as I know the transmission has not jumped out of gear on its own. I am looking at a shop ticket and they are calling the issue a shutter during torque converter locks up.
When coming to a stop there would be a sudden surge and it felt like the vehilce was being pushed forward. There has been a few occasions where we almost hit something in front of us because of this surge. There was a bad shutter though out the vehicle at 30 to 50 mph. Made complaints to dealer. They couldn't duplicate the problem. This was at roughly 6k miles at the time of the first oil change. At 10k miles the vehicle stalled out and died in our drive way after putting it into reverse to back out. The vehicle rolled back into the street as our driveway is at a incline with out any functions or controls. Lucky traffic was light and they were able to avoid hitting us. I was able to start it eventually and drove its strait to the dealership. They found the torque converter went bad and replaced it. Complained about the rough ride, noises and loose feel coming from the front end several times at 20,000 miles and 30,000 miles. When driving the vehicle over bumps while in a curve the vehicle would jerk to the side pulling the steering wheel hard to the side it was pulled towards. There were a few occasions where we almost hit a vehicle or concrete wall. They finally replace some components on the front end. No more noises from the front end for about 2,000 miles and then it comes back. The shutter is back along with erratic shifting. Service replaces the torque converter again at 45,000 miles. This time it last a little bit long and I don't start having issue with the torque converter until nearly 60,000 miles. The front end still pops, creaked and feels loose at times and the torque convertor is still failing.
In motion vehicle shutters, clunking in between gears, clunks going into reverse, shutters between 30-40 mph and over 65 mph. Bought vehicle brand new off show room floor, vehicle was out of alignment when I purchased it. Around 12,000 miles noticed it was shuttering and as time has continued it has progressively gotten worse. At 17,000 miles 11/16 torque convertor went out and was replaced. 1/17 back in shop now with same problems but much worse.
I have had problems with my 2005 denali shifting. I go to stop and then take off and it acts like its slipping and then all of sudden it grabs with a clunk. This has happen at all times of it being driven. I have taken it in to the dealer put unless they can duplicate it then they cant fix it. Well gm will not pay them for warranty work unless. Now it has gotten to the point that it made a loud clunk and then was slipping as you pushed the gas, so right then we took it to the dealer so they could drive it. The transmission tech drove it and look at the trans fluid and it was 1 1/2 qts low. No leaks ever and it has been in to the dealer at least 5 times and 3 in the last 2 1/2 months and the fluids, I hope were good. Tech topped it off and it shifted fine for the weekend. Then the next Monday it started slipping and hardly accelerating again. Took it back in and the tech checked code and it had some torque converter codes. They replaced a wiring harness in the transmission. I work for a couple of days then it started again. We took it back in and the service dept. Called gm and they had them change the ignition sw (module I think). I will post code and exact when I get the info from the dealer. I will see if this fixes it.

Transmission failed at approximately 48,000 miles. Aamco mechanic indicates it was a torque converter failure. They have indicated that this problem is common with GMC and Chevrolet vehicles at 35k to 90k miles. I have since spoken with four persons who have experienced the same trouble. GMC denies trouble with their transmissions. Is there a large number of failures occurring.
