I have 52,000 mile on my vehicle and have to replace the brake system for the third time. Not including the price of this thrid replacement the brakes and tire package is costing $40 per mile. The brake system is unreliable and the manufacturer repairman states the casue is the weather conditions of new york. If the weather is the reason for poor brake performance then the manufacturer should modify the system or not sell the vehicle in new york.

When slowing down the anti lock brakes kick in and it takes longer to stop the truck. The consumer has hit a fence and almost hit a person. Had the problem fixed and then heard about the problem on the news. The front abs wheel speed sensors and master cylinder was replaced.

While driving and when using the brakes, they will work intermittently, the brake pedal will go to the floor, causing vehicle to have an extended stopping distance. Dealer will be notified. The failure started about 6 months ago. The brake when depressing would go about one inch from the floor causing a panic situation. This failure occurred several more times.
When brakes were applied to stop vehicle they didn't hold, brake pedal went to the floor. Causing an accident. Contacted dealer.
The steering would jerk the wheel left or right while in a turn causing a momentary loss of control of the vehicle. Steering box was replaced before finally the evo sensor was replaced. Abs brakes also have never felt good. The pedal goes to low before the brakes slow the vehicle down. This has been a complaint sence the truck was new. The retailer seems not very concerned with my complaints. Especially knowing that I am an automobile technician they feel I will let the problem go their repairs haved been unsatisfactory from the begining. I have had to complain about problems many times before finally the preblems are fixed. With the steering problem I haad to contact another dealer tech I knew and ask him the problem which he knew what was wrong imediately. Please do something before all these trucks with this steering and brake pro.

Vehicle experiencing extended stopping distance when braking. Nlm.
When stepping on the brakes they pulsate and make the vehicle pull to the right or left with extra braking distance.
Owner was involved in a collision due to brake failure. Was driving about 30mph, trying to make a turn , stepped on the brakes and they resisted.
Rear brakes not working properly, causing excessive wear on front brakes and causing brakes to fade.
Brakes squeal.
Brakes begin feeling harder to stop, feeling & hearing air as the pedal needs to be pressed harder & closer to the floor. A lot of room in braking activity, pressing brake does not slow, need to have foot pedal to floor.
No braking action is experienced for over 1 second after emergency hard braking. Try brakes hard, with full body weight, when moving 3 mph in simulated emergency and then letting of--the vehicle will not show down. I had a accident last year in which a additional 3-5' of stopping distance would have prevented the accident. I avoided an accident last week by swerving after an elderly lady rolled in front of me while I was traveling 25mph. I avoided it by swering, the brakes did not start slowing the vehicle until it was to late. I have demonstrated this same problem in a friends Yukon also. The dealer told me that this was the way the vehicle was designed and that there was nothing that could be done to correct the problem.

Brakes feel spongy.
Brake system on the Yukon is a weak link on an otherwise great vehicle. We have complained about the brakes to the dealership numerous times and was told that it is normal. The problem with it is that the pedal goes almost to the floor everytime it is used and you tend to wonder if the truck will stop in time. I read in the paper this week that the Yukon's brakes on the 1999 and later trucks were recalled and would bet that the problem is the same. Either way I want a complaint listed about these lousy brakes on the 98 model Yukon and maybe GMC will design a fix for this lousy system.
