Complete brake failure when two metal lines ruptured causing a loss of hydraulic pressure in both circuits during a hard stop. Abs had not activated. The braking took place at low speed when a car ahead stopped suddenly pedal sank to the floor, and the cable-activated parking brake was then used to avoid a collision and get the truck to the side of the road.

While driving my 2001 denali xl my brakes failed and was fortunate that I was not in traffic. Once I crept home I was able to see the under carriage and there were large amount of corrosion on all the equipment. Car is still laid up until I can afford repaired.
On Dec. 4, 2012 heading north on the NJ tpke toward the gw bridge and got cut off. Hit the brake and the dash board lit up, the brakes were failing, pedal went to the floor. I had no breaks. Able to steer clear of traffic. Slowed the car by lowering gear and pumping brake and entered the toll for gw in a cash lane in order to get help. Able to stop car without incident but only because it was very late (9pm) and traffic was light.
Total brake failure after a long trip.
Lost braking ability, brake peddle to floor, warning lights came on for brake failure, service immediately. Smoke coming from area of left front wheel. Pulled over, checked brake fluid, there was none.

The contact owns a 1999 GMC Yukon. On April 20, 2009, the vehicle would not accelerate past 20 mph. There had been no prior failures with the transmission since purchasing the vehicle used in January of 2009. In addition, there were alignment issues that caused the tires to explode, tie rod failure, brake failure, and the fuel gauge displays the incorrect amount of fuel in the vehicle. The failure mileage was 100,000. Updated 5/27/09 the upper and lower ball joints, lower ball joints, idler arm, steering gear, rack and pinion were all replaced. Updated 06/02/09.
The contact owns a 1999 GMC Yukon. While attempting to slow down the vehicle with the brake pedal depressed, the abs activated. The brakes failed and the stopping distance increased. The VIN is excluded from recall number 05068. The current mileage was 114,000 and failure mileage was 112,000.
The contact owns a 2003 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the brakes failed while approaching a stop sign. After 20 feet, the vehicle stopped. She pulled over to the shoulder, and waited approximately ten minutes. The dealer performed a diagnostic, but no failure could be identified. This was the second occurrence of this failure. On the first occasion, midas checked the brakes, but also could not identify a failure. There is a recall related to the failure she is experiencing. The failure mileage was 59,000 and current mileage was 59,100. Updated 07/29/08. The right front window would not roll down at times. The dealer replaced the regulator and the motor. Updated 07/29/08.
Brake failure at 34000 miles.
: the contact stated the brake system failed when speed was reduced to 5 mph and the brake pedal vibrated badly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for service. The problem continued, so the vehicle was taken to another independent mechanic where the abs system was disconnected. The service dealer and manufacturer were notified. Updated 1/19/2007 -.

The contact owns a 2004 GMC Yukon. While driving at 25 mph the contact engaged the brakes and the vehicle would not stop and caused it to crash into the rear of another vehicle. The failure mileage was 70,000. Between the two vehicles, four people sustained minor injuries. This was the second time the brakes failed. The vehicle was not drivable and will not be repaired. The current and failure mileage were 70,000.
Brakes failed to stop properly, surging/intermittent pulsing and strange sounds. I thought this was a normal function for abs brakes. I tolerated and drove carefully for years. Now I find this is a symptom of a GMC recall problem 05v-379. Upon contacting GMC they say their computers need updating and it "may" be in for recall but the GMC does not have the correct parts now. Sounds like a major problem. I am worried about total failure and am registering a complaint. They daid that I could get it fixed now and then they "may" reimburse me later. I called the GMC number on their recall site, the site said my number "may" qualify for recall. I am confused and frustrated now that I know this is a big problem for other GMC products and can't get fixed.
: the contact stated the vehicle experienced intermittent, erratically brake failures without warning, while driving 10 mph, under normal road and braking conditions. The vehicle was taken into an independent repair shop who was unable to find the cause of the problem.
: the contact stated while driving there was a squealing noise that appeared to be coming from the brakes. During a normal maintenance service, the service dealer determined the squealing noise was normal. On April 4, an appointment was made with the dealer regarding the vehicle's brakes. The dealership determined the vent solenoid had failed internally and the vent solenoid and bracket parts had to be replaced. The contact was told by dealership that until work could be performed the car was driveable. On April 5th, the vehicle was in an accident. While driving 55 mph on wet roads, the brakes failed which caused the contact to loose control of the vehicle. While the contact attempted to manuver the vehicle to the side of the road, the vehicle hit a pole and slide into a ditch. During the accident the air bags did not deploy. All occupants were wearing seatbelts however injuries were sustained. The contacts had lower back injuries. An mri was performed showing a dislocated disk to the lower back. Other injuries occurred to two other passangers ages 12 and 7; minor head injuries. A police report was filed and accident report was processed with the dealership. After the accident, the vehicle was taken to a body shop for repairs. Additional repairs still need to be made to brakes and airbags.
We bought this vehicle in may of 05. Since this time we have brought it to the dealer on three separate occasions due to brake failure. While traveling at a low rate of speed the brakes on occasion fail to engage and we end up sliding forward a few feet. Each time the dealer says that they can not find a problem with the brakes and that they must experience the problem in order to repair the vehicle. The last time this happened we almost hit another vehicle.

: the contact stated while attempting to apply brake pressure at 65 mph the brakes failed resulting in a crash. This occurred on a normal road during normal braking without warning and a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection. They were unable to duplicate the problem and no repairs were made.
Low speed brake failure resulting in a rear end collision. I was approaching a stop light as the 5 vehicle in line to travel through the light. I was braking lightly to control my speed as to assume my position in line to travel through the intersection. As the light turned green I did not need to come to a complete stop and was approaching the fourth car. The third car in the line suddenly braked hard in the intersection causing the fourth car in front of me to brake hard. I attempted to perform an emergency stop but I experienced a hard brake pedal with no brakes and the inability to slow down. This resulted in a rear end collision for which I was at fault. I have spoken to several other owners of vehicle similar to mine which also have experienced similar failure but without the crash. I have failed in several attempts to bring this to the attention of gm through the dealership and a product allocation request. My only avenue now is through your organization or a legal class action matter.
: the contact stated the brake pedal kicks back at a low speeds, prevents the vehicle from stopping correctly, causing a extended braking distance, which has created a vehicle safety issue. The vehicle was purchased used and has had this issue since the vehicle was acquired. There were no previous accidents, as shown on carfax. Com, causing the brake failure.
Consumer states: going at low speeds the brakes tend to give way,. Heard a noise, the brakes just failed, no matter of the weather conditions.
While driving my 2002 Yukon xl, there is yellow light appeared on the I/p cluster message center. "service 4wd" and when gently apply/pressing on the brake pedal, the is some kind of loud mechanism noise in the front wheel driver side, and prevent the brake pedal from coming down. Three times that I almost rear end other vehicles. Took the vehicle to the dealership to get it fixed, the cost was $2212. 93 for fixing brake system failure including anti brake system and 4wheel drive. Dealer recommended to a report to NHTSA.
Had taken vehicle to dealer for brake service on front disc brakes due to wear on disc. Work after 15000 miles had to be performed again due to disk wearing out. Consumer believed that brakes were not heavy enough for vehicle. Disc warped causing vibrations and brake failure. The disc was turned a t 15k miles and was replaced at 28k. Transmission does not hold on hills. Front end was leaking due to front pinion seal failure . .
While driving down a hill today ( I was using the gears so the brakes were not overheated). . . The brakes completely failed mometarily when I reached the bottom of the hill - I almost hit the car in front of me. When I tried the brakes again immediately thereafter (after going through the intersection) and they were perfectly fine.
Slowing to a stop on slight downhill grade, the brakes failed for appx 3-4 seconds. The brake pedal raised up towards me and couldn't stop the vehicle. This has happened at least 20 times(always on dry roads). It also occurs at slowing down speeds, if road is ever so slightly rough. * not overly bumpy !!.
Dt: the brake's abs system is malfunctioning. The brakes are not engaging properly at low and high speeds. The brakes have to be pumped a couple of times before you can come to a complete stop. The consumer has had the brakes replaced once. The dealer was the one to replace the brakes. The speeds are between 20-30, high 40-50 when you have to start pumping them. If you hit a bump at low speeds the brakes will push back up instead of down. The consumer has had this problem for 5 years. The dealer was informed that there was a problem on the vehicle. The consumer was in a minor accident because of the brake failure.
Newly replaced (100mi) delco brakes failed to stop car in a normal stopping distance, causing crash.
