Door latch in the locked position while door is open. Car computer thought the door was closed and door was open. Happened two times in one day. Very serious problem is driver is allowed to drive with children in the back seat with no warning that the door did not close.
Both rear door handles of my Yukon denali are loose from the door. It is just a matter of time before they fall off and my kids are stuck in the back. I called the dealership and he said that this is a common issue and he has fixed this problem before. However since it is not a safety issue there is not a bulletin. I think having easy and safe access to our kids is pretty important, but since the door were so poorly made and engineered that is not the true issue. I have gone online to see if there was a recall on this issue and to my surprise there is a you tube video on how to fix this common issue and there are blogs and bulletins that this is common. If this is truly common and defective, how come gm is not mandated to address and fix this matter? this is unfair that I need to take money out from my pocket to fix something that was designed poorly. I have had plenty of vehicles and this has never happened to me before and let me remind you this is now my 2nd door in a matter of weeks! please help!.
The outer door handle on the drivers door and front passenger door are coming off the vehicle.

Drivers side door handle chrome is peeling off and my wife sliced her finger on the interior door handle. This is a known issue as I had also cut my hand on my 2007 avalanche. Another issue on my Yukon is that the dash has cracked for unknown reason around my airbag which could propose a serious issue since it surrounds the passenger airbag also similar to a 07 avalanche I have owned. If you google there are hundreds of owners with the same issues and nothing had been done about it.
3 months after buying vehicle in sept of 2011. Chrome door handles on passenger side are peeling and cracking and slicing fingers open when trying to open door. About 8 months ago, dashboard beginning to crack around passenger side air bag area.
Went to open door and handle came off. Did not pull any harder than normal. This is after we had to replace inside door handles due to flaking chrome that cut hand. Poor quality both inside door handle and outside door handles should be recalled.
The chrome plating on the front passenger door handle is separating from the door handle at the top of the handle, and is extremely sharp (caused cut to fingers on right hand); after this has happened I searched online for possible gm action to resolve and founds reports online of this being reported for 2007 and 2008 gm vehicles (although mine is a 2009). Investigation was supposedly started but cannot find results of this. Spoke to my GMC dealer and they had no advisor's to rectify and would do so at cost.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the doors failed to open when using the remote access. The dealer stated that the actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN was not available. The approximate failure mileage was 27,000.

I own a 2007 GMC Yukon xl and the passenger and driver door chrome handle is peeling off and I got my finger cut as I tried to exit on the driver side door a couple of times . I just put tape around it but I think that it should be fixed it's a hazard and danger to have that happened.
Door handle on the driver's door separated from the outside door handle/latch assembly. The entire assembly for both driver's side doors were separating from the vehicle doors. When the driver's door handle completely came off the vehicle it could be reinserted, however it was not connected to the latch to function as a means to enter the vehicle. Pulling on the handle to open the door was not functional. The door handles will first begin to separate from the door and then eventually the handle/latch functionality is lost. I had to pay the GMC dealership $401. 44 to replace the entire outside handle assemblies for both of the driver's side doors.
Door handle - passenger (front) driver (front) inside door. Chrome is peeling causing an extremely sharp edge. Were replaced in 2008 under warranty. Car is no longer under warranty. Severe safety hazard. Causes deep cuts.
Ea10004 - my wife cut her hand on the door handle of our 2007 Yukon denali xl. The plastic on the handle came off and created a sharp surface on the door handle.
Have same problem regarding interior door handles - chrome treatment begins to peel and peeling chrome is very sharp resulting in cuts to fingers and hands. Poor chroming process resulting in product failure. Handles need to be replaced.
Chrome plating on interior door opening handles peels off creating sharp edges that cut occupants fingers while trying to exit vehicle. This is occurring on interior door handles.
2007 gm Yukon xl, front interior door handles have peeling chrome paint that cut fingers when opening doors.
I have a 2007 GMC Yukon and both inside door handles (front and passenger) have split at the upper seam of handle. This caused me to cut my hand on one occasion due to the driver side handle. I have since placed duct tape over both handles where the seams have split, so that nobody will get cut leaving the vehicle. Vehicle is out of warranty, so I have not taken it to a dealer.
I own a 2007 GMC Yukon. The chrome on the door handles have started to peel, and we have had everyone on our family slice their finger open. My finger had a deep gash that bled severely. If it was my child with a gash that deep, I would have immediately taken them to the dr. The chrome is sharp as a razor. Dealer says there is no problem.
Interior door handles with chrome treatment begins to peel and peeling chrome is very sharp resulting in some serious cuts to fingers and hands. Poor chroming process resulting in product failure. Dealerships difficult to deal with on the issue. No official gm warranty service bulletin as of yet. Handles need to be replaced.
Chrome on drivers door handle has sharp edges and will cut your hand.
Some gm products, including my 2001 GMC Yukon, do not come with a door ajar warning system. Gm has written, indicating that there is a "standard" door ajar warning system when there is not. Gm has made an apparent misrepresentation, fooling customers into believing that the courtesy dome light system (which turns on when the door is open) is a door ajar warning system. I have seen other internet complaints regarding this system in gm products. It poses a grave danger to occupants. Is there legislation regarding a door ajar warning system and can anything be done about gm? below are examples of what can or has occurred. A driver enters a Yukon along with three passengers. The dome
light will turn on no matter what at this juncture because the doors were
opened, so there would not be cause for alarm as doors close. One of the
three passengers does not close his/her door completely. The driver puts
the key in the ignition and starts the vehicle. The light turns off. No door ajar warning. Another example: I opened a rear passenger door of my Yukon and the driver's door. The dome light turned on, because it is apparently a standard feature for the light to come on when a door is opened for people to get in and out. I then pushed the passenger door towards it's housing just enough for metal to touch metal (or the apparent sensor), but still "open" in that, without engaging the door opening mechanism, I could still pull it open. I then entered the vehicle
through the driver's side door and closed it (only the driver's side door). I put the key in the ignition and the dome light turned of. Anyone could
have pushed or pulled the passenger door open. Example: I began backing out of my house one day when one of the doors began to open. No door ajar light was on. Had this occurred on the open road, a serious accident could have resulted. The doors on this SUV are already heavy, and it is very easy to have a door ajar.
