2013 Yukon xl was found to have excessive rust on the frame and other parts underneath the vehicle during an annual inspection. The wax coating if flaking off the frame leaving bare metal that quickly rusts. Gm claims that the damage is environmental and the issues is the salt used on PA roads. If this is the case, then gm should warn all customers that their vehicles are not built to last in the state of PA and that they will not honor their warranty. None of our other vehicles are rusting. Their are many other people complaining about the same issues and the problem has been noted to start during the first year of ownership before going through the winter. They have not properly coated the frame to withstand rust. I had to pay for undercoating now to rectify the problem. The undercoating installer mentioned this is a know problem with gm trucks and the company refuses to acknowledge or address the issue.

I have been a long time buyer of gm products, I still have a 99 tahoe, 07 GMC savanna and an 02 GMC sierra hd 2500, recently purchased a 2012 Yukon xl denali used with 22,000 miles on it from old saybrook GMC in CT, clean as a whistle everything looked, went to wash it and spray underneath in the first week after I bought it and noticed underneath the frame wax all pealing and frame very rusted, along with many other things rusting . My 02 with 170,000 miles on it looks better then this. Also went on line and there are a lot of people complaining about the same thing. Im sure more would if they looked under there car. This has got to be a factory defect and they need to fix this problem. The dealer is telling me thats normal , I disagree seeing I have multiple cars/ Gmcs my wife has a 2012 passat we bought new and is spotless underneath, and we have done nothing to the car.

Driving vehicle at approx 45mph, came to stop at red light and brake pedal went completely to the floor. Pumped the brake pedal again and nothing. Down shifted transmission to slow down and pressed the emergency brake to come to a stop. Pulled over to the side of the road, lifted the hood no brake fluid in rear section of master cylinder. Noticed brake fluid dripping under the front of the drivers door on the ground. Had the vehicle towed home and looked under the vehicle and the brake line was dripping fluid. The brake lines are completely rusted and the frame is really rusted. Just got the vehicle out of the GMC shop for routine service. Can't figure why they didn't notice or at least tell me that I might have a problem. I called them and advise what issue I was having. They advised that gm would not cove the issue and 1300. 00 would maybe cover the line replacement plus. I am not happy. Worked hard to buy this vehicle and now that I am retired from the military I really do not have the funds to replace the lines and do something about the rusty frame.

I just bought this vehicle from community Ford in indiana. I got up underneath the vehicle and found the frame is severely rusted and cracked at the factory installed frame hitch mount points. As if the tongue weight to a trailer was over the rated limit. I have read several posts on forums dealing with this issue and it seems to be a common issue in 2500hd trucks of this year and 2005. I have also noticed my rear crossmember is severely corroded along with other parts of the frame.

We purchased the 2002 Yukon from mcguire dealership in NJ its been cared for taken to the dealership faithfully driven by my 50 year old father, when first driving he noticed the pedal vibrating rapidly during normal brake applications. The abs control valve was the culprit along with a rusty wheel sensor. It was replaced at the dealer and after 5 years the frame of the truck is rusting and rotting along with suspension parts and most of all the brakes. We came close to crashing one day when the pedal went straight to the floor, we take it to the local firestone and they tell us all the brake lines are rusted out along with the master cylinder. We replaced the lines and master cylinder with a hefty price tag. We get the car back 3 days later pedal goes to the floor again, back at the mechanic both rear calipers are rusted and leaking. We replaced all 4 calipers and the problem stopped but now the frame is rusting and the abs is still vibrating badly. Long story short gm needs to be held accountable for selling such cheap crappy trucks, we came close a few times to crashing, and I feel sorry for the people that have lost their lives due to the neglegence of the employees of gm.
