The contact stated that the brake assist warning light was illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive to his destination. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic, where the repair was being performed. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.

While driving 30 mph power steering and brakes failed. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and pulled over. Driver took vehicle to dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the hydraulic pump needed to be replaced. The consumer stated that no warning was given prior to the failure. The consumer was told that his vehicle was 1 of 198 that are being recalled. No recall was found.
