Right tail light does not illuminate. GMC will not cover this repair even though it is a known issue since my vehicle has over 72,000 miles. This should be covered indefinitely.

Having issues with the tail lights ever since I got the vehicle. First it was one light completely out. Then it worked for awhile, and now both lights are intermittently working. The side yellow lights work on both but the running lights and the brake lights all dont work almost all of the time. Upon reading up on the internet, many many sites as well as local people with the same vehicle, all state they have the exact same issue with their tail lights. It seems to be a very common issue with the same pieces faulting in all of these Yukons. Doesn't matter if vehicle is stopped or moving they hardly ever work.
The left led tail light would go out and then come back on. This has been happening for over a year now. Police stopped me twice but thankfully, did not give me a ticket. Had it repaired 2 or 3 times. It might last a day or two and then goes out again. Apparently, there is a thin metal piece that is sorted together that keeps breaking. The right one has started doing it too. I was over the mileage for the recall. Can't afford the $1600 or so it would cost for new improved tail lights. What does mileage have to do with repairing a defect in the products used in the tail light? I am constantly afraid someone will rear end me since the light doesn't work. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
We purchased this vehicle in February 2019. Less than a year later our right tail light started going out randomly. Then it completely would not work. We pay for an extended warranty, but it didn't cover it. Then shortly after the left tail light did the same thing. We currently have 84k miles on our vehicle. Due to negligence, and a dishonest company (GMC), this military family is down to 1 vehicle as we cannot afford the almost $2k it will cost to fix the tail lights. This is not due to anything we did, it has everything to do with fault brake lights that GMC will not fix past 72k miles which is disgusting and a slap in the face to people who give them their hard earned money. I have done extensive research and this is a very common problem in these vehicles. There are dozens of blogs, posts, websites, etc of customers complaining of this issue and GMC not helping past 72k miles which is a horrible explanation and is not helpful to most of us. We have already had to pay out of pocket for things that have broken (normal wear and tear which is understandable) that wasn't covered under our platinum extended warranty. However, GMC needs to do the right thing especially for our men and women in uniform, and fix what their company has deemed as faulty past 72k miles!!!.
Left (driver side) rear tail light assembly is completely dead. This is the second time in two years. Will be the third assembly on the vehicle in the five years I have owned it. The assembly does not last. All the led's stop working. There doesn't appear to be any particular reason that the shop can find that it causing it.
I bought this Yukon and the next day a gentleman that was riding behind me almost hit me he came to the side of me and said my tail light is not working they come on when they want to in and out and sometimes not at all this is a serious problem its happening to all of the newer models and they are 800 for a new tail light there needs to be a recall on the tail lights something is wrong with the led strip in them this is going to cause someone to get hurt I have 4 small children and I do not need to get into a crash and I do not need to spend 1600 plus to get new ones.
Rear taillight does not work. Searched online and found that this is a very common issue, gm refuses to fix and tries to charge $800 to replace whole tail light assembly.
This can be researched by hundreds of videos on youtube. Poor design causes the metal to break inside the led rear tail lights which makes them inoperable. These are unsafe when these go out and it is very common. General motors does warranty their lights nor is there a recall. This is a costly repair and a safety issue.

Driver side tail light stopped working. Brake light.
My rear tail lights stopped working and the dealership is charging $800 to replace the module. Previously I had a 2016 Yukon xl and the same thing happened around 40k miles. My sister-in-law also has a 2016 Yukon xl and one of her tail lights did the same thing. After searching online this seems to be a common problem with 2015 and 2016 Yukon xl models and gm should be replacing these parts at no cost to these thousands of people experiencing this problem when the car isn't even 5 years old.
Rear passengers brake light flickers off and on causing a safety risk while driving. Previous years of same make and model are having same issues causing a shortage in $400-800 replacement of tail light assembly. Rather, GMC should recall and correct the original manufacturing quality to begin with.

At 32,000 miles we had our back tail light go out. GMC replaced it at cost to them which was around $280 . Less than 6 months later the other tail light went out and dealer told us lights go out. We paid full price $680 to have it replaced. Now our left tail light is out again and it'll be another $680 or more to be replaced. This is ridiculous. They are led tail lights. These she last a very long time. Thousands of others are having this problem. Car gurus has a blog solely about this. The odd thing is they are mostly 2015 Yukons. A recall needs to be done on this problem and the thousands of people dealing with this should be reimbursed for replacing these tail lights over and over! if you pay 60,000 for a car you should not go through this.
Both tail lights and break lights have stopped working. They are more than $700 each and gm knows about the problem as they have no lights available, they are on backorder for weeks. You can find a fix online by resoldering a metal piece that can temporarily fix the problem.
Owned the car for 2 years, been in the shop three times for the same issue, car jerks going less than 25 mph and while driving and accelerating. Both tail lights are led and inoperable. Ac quit working, recharged once and figure it's a leak. Upon reading reviews GMC is aware of faulty parts but no recall on any vehicle.
Tail lights suddenly stopped working. Called the dealer and was told $800. To replace. The dealership told me everyone is having this problem why is it not a recall? I researched the problem online and everybody is complaining about this issue.
I have been notified on two occasions on the road that my tail light was out. When I was able to check them, both tail lights lit up then turned on. It must be an intermittent issue.
Right tail light went put, took it to get fixed. They said it was the circuit board and I had to pay $900 to get it fixed. The dealership said they have had a ton of the circuit board replacements and didn't know why gm didn't do a recall. Now, my left side circuit board is out and needs to be replaced.
The rear tail lights do not work. The dealership identified this fault and said that the problem is very common.
Tail lights work inconsistently, dealership tells me it's common problem with my year and model.
The passenger tail light was only working intermittently so I had the whole thing replaced for $750. Now my driver side one is only working intermittently. Also my passenger headlight started accumulating moisture and now the whole led strip doesn't work. There has to be an issue with the company making them!.
Brake lights and tail lights stopped working. The led lights have stopped working at 4 years old and 50,000 miles. No option to replace individual bulbs, dealer said the entire light fixture has to be replaced at $665 per each side. Major safety feature not working @ brake lights!!!.
Rear passenger tail light needs to be replaced at a ridiculous cost. Extremely poor engineering design. That is if it wasn't intentionally designed to fail. On the low end $5-600 to replace a tail light??? what a joke. Sad thing is I'm lucky, many many people have had more than one light assembly go out. I've bought gm for my last 3 vehicles (envoy, tahoe, Yukon) this will likely be the last time I ever buy gm.
Tail light went out and is a known and common issue within 2 to 4 years of vehicle ownership (often both sides go out). In my case, the driver side tail light went out. Total cost for me was $850. There are many comments regarding this online. Typical cost to repair is $700 to $800 at dealership. Only other option to reduce cost is to mail out part, but this leaves you without a vehicle for several days for repair and delivery time.
The tail light stopped working and cannot change out the led bulbs, it is a break some where the the wiring.
The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon xl. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact was alerted by her husband who was driving behind the vehicle, that the rear tail lights were inoperable. The contact was also alerted by other drivers that the rear tail lights were not functioning as needed. The vehicle was taken to sierra blanca motor CO. (304 us-70, ruidoso, nm 88345, (855) 707-6474) to be repaired under NHTSA campaign number: 19v645000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The technician also inspected the lights and stated in the diagnostic report that all lights were working at the time of inspection. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer for the failure however, the second dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The contact then had her friend, who was a retired authorized GMC technician, inspected the taillights and duplicated the failure. The vehicle was then taken back to sierra blanca motor CO. However, the service advisor inspected the tail lights but offered no assistance. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that they would check with the dealer to see if they could assist with the failure. The manufacturer later informed the contact that they would offer a 25% discount for each light to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 61,835.
Passenger side brake and tail light quit working took to dealership for repair. Dealership said they had fixed it and had not. Took back to them and they say they can't get one it's on back order. After looking into it myself it seems to be a very common problem that gm isn't doing anything to fix but put the same lights back in that will fail again. I've asked about an updated light that wouldn't fail again and the dealership seems to have no knowledge about the lights at all. Gm needs to step up and fix the this issue as it is a safety problem.
2016 GMC Yukon tail light not working. Started not working for a day or two and then worked again and then quit completely. ## #vpic# 1 - check digit (9th position) does not calculate properly #vpic#.
I was notified by another driver my passenger rear tail light was out. There is no notification on the dashboard to alert drivers. The next day the light was working. I continued to check it periodically and figured it was a fluke. I was stopped again while driving that the light was out roughly a week later. After looking into repair the cost is ridiculous $650-$800+ and it appears to be a widely known issue. I was actually in a parking lot and saw a vehicle exactly like mine same light out. Not sure why lights are going out in a three year old vehicle just hitting 40000 miles.
The tail lights keep going out even after having them replaced at the dealership. I have been stopped by the police and have actually had to show the invoice were I have had the lights.
All led brake tail lights suddenly failed on right rear of car. Total assembly can not have electronic components/lights replaced and is a sealed unit. GMC price on assembly is approximately $800. Other owners with similar failures tell me this is due to internal corrosion in supposedly sealed assembly.
My tail light is out only on the brake part the dealers said I have to replace the hole light ive had my car no more than 2 years running well just the light problem the dealer said it happens alot but it was not under warranty they want to charge 600 dlls I think they should fix their issue an not have people spending this much for something they know they should fix.
Passenger brake light intermittently went on and off, the tail light assembly was replaced. Less than 6 moths later the driver's side brake light is doing the same things. Both times have been discovered due to police stops with a car that has less than 75,000 miles. This is a safety issue, review the large amount of complaints for this issue.
I have a 2015 Yukon denali with about 63k miles. My tail lights do not work properly. The driver sign works randomly. At time it works in the day and night others it appears to only work in night time or when the vehicle is not directly in the sun during the day. Yesterday evening I notice the passenger side was out instead of the driver side. I have went to GMC dealership and they all say that the part needs to be place and will cost around $800 for one light. This is a common problem in all gm made vehicles and seems to be more noticeable in GMC Yukons. I have been told by several people my light was out then it pops back on and even the police has stop me for my tail light before. This is a safety issue that could cause warm to me and my family (two small toddler) which I transport to and from school or someone else family due to alot of your customers mainly purchasing this vehicle to transport their families from one place to another. It troubles me that we pay $60k - $70k for these vehicles and the only solution is to replace the light with the same faulty part. This issues happens when park and driving. I live in baton rouge, la and I use the interstate to get to and from work each and every day. I would like to see GMC provide a solution that fixes this issue and not profit off of a bad part but forcing it's customers to constantly have to replace bad tail lights. I love my GMC Yukon and will continue to purchase one as long as I feel I'm getting a quality vehicle for the amount of money I'm paying.
Both rear tail lights are out. The replacment for these are over 800. 00 and gm has know about this for years. Please help, as I cannot get my car inspected with the lights being out.
Internal circuitry of passenger tail light cracked in multiple locations causing the led's that provide running and stop functions of the light to fail. The car was not wrecked or damaged in any way. Appears as if metal fatigue from bumpy roads perhaps causes the circuitry to fail at at least 2 weak points in the metal circuit. The problem was pointed out by a trailing policeman while stopped at a red light, he kindly notified me that the entire light was out.
