2007- GMC Yukon xl denali purchased on 11/09/2007. 1 week after picking up this new vehicle we noticed distorted images when driving. This is most noticeable at night time. The windshield has numerous waves throughout, causing the images to be distorted. After driving for awhile you get a feeling you are on a boat, makes you dizzy and gives you a headache. The dealership referred me to GMC. GMC's donna mowet (866-790-5600 xt 12023 service request #71-622065992) reported to me via phone yesterday (05/20/08) after about 2 months, ". . . The technicians have determined that this is a normal normal characteristics of the windshield and that no further action will be taken by GMC or the dealership, hence it does not qualify for the new vehicle warranty. . . . . ". I requested I be allowed to return the vehicle to which she stated "it would not qualify for a buy back". Please keep in mind that no technician ever looked at my specific vehicle, the dealership informed me of that and handed me a service bulletin, explaining that I will have to contact GMC. In addition, I will like to point out that the service bulletin was issues on Feb. 2008 after the vehicles have been built and sold, not before they were released. There were no service bulletins available when I made my purchase and there was no warning advising me as a consumer that the windshield had normal characteristic flaws that may cause distortion while operating this vehicle. I am requesting that NHTSA please look at this matter immediately so no deaths or injuries occur and have GMC comply with the new vehicle warranty or have then buy the vehicle back. I would like to also state that our previous vehicle was a 2002 GMC Yukon xl denali and that we were happy and had no major issues nor was the wind shield warped for over 1000,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2005 GMC Yukon denali xl. While driving 75 mph, the vehicle's windshield was struck just below the wiper blade by a marble-sized rock. The rock caused fragments of glass to shatter on the passenger's mouth. The contact stated that nothing penetrated the windshield. The current mileage is 23,553 and failure mileage was 23,443.

I have 2005 GMC Yukon xl that I purchased on the year end sale. So I have had it for about 1 1/2 years so far. Shortly after I purchased it while driving on the interstate a stone hit my windshield. I noticed that after a few days and temperature changes a crack started to grow from it. That is pretty typical right? yes and no. You see this is my fourth new car and sixth all together. In the past I've had stones hit my windshield but no cracks. Have I been lucky or is it something else. After a while I starting seeing other Yukons, escalades and suburbans with multiple cracks and craters and asked the owners questions. They all seemed to be ok with it but I'm not. I ask myself why are all of these windshields cracked? statistically what are the chances of windshields cracking with a stone on the road. The bottom line is that I seriously believe that the windshields are defective.
Weather stripping between driver's front door and rear passenger's door allows water to seep into vehicle. Please provide additional inormation.

The rear windows will not go up or down and sometimes the passenger window will not wrork either. I have also had a grinding or rubbing oise from the right rear tire area that no one can find it only does it occasionally. I can live with that but the windows not working is a real pain. . I have talked with 3 other friends in frederick who have purchased new suburbans and they are having the same problems. . What is general motors going to do about it. .
Vehicle was sitting on its own when glass exploded. The weather was nice around 80 degrees even if not this shouldn't have happened. Possible defect; poor quality or fitting. And so on. . .
While driving home in the right lane on a two-highway, the driver's window spontaneously shattered. I was driving through a swamp-no people or construction sites around, nor was there a car next to me. As the window lost strength from shattering it bowed in and I pulled over to knock out the rest of the glass. With the remaining glass around the car, I sustained cuts to my left hand and a piece flew into my eye and tore a contact. My young daugter sustained scratches on her scalp due to glass in her hair. When we arrived at the dealer, he stated that he had heard the rear windows blowing out but not the side ones! all we wanted to was relinguish the lease, but GMC refused. We had to pay out- I feel this should be investigated as it could have resulted in fatalities. Thank you.
