Sun Roof Problems of GMC Yukon

The contact owns a 2012 GMC Yukon xl. While driving, the sun roof inadvertently exploded. There were no injuries. The contact heard wind blowing through the sun roof. Upon further inspection, he noticed a hole in the sun roof glass. The contact called brian harris Chevrolet at (225) 910-6907 (15015 florida blvd, baton rouge, la 70819) and was informed that the dealer was closed and he would be contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 98,000.

Traveling approximately 60 mph on a partly sunny day, approximately 27 degrees outside with my heater on, my sunroof spontaneously shattered with a sound similar to a gunshot. At that point, the glass did not fall but was cracked into thousands of pieces. Later as I drove the glass began to fall apart. I was not following any vehicle and was not driving under a bridge or around any trees so there was nothing that could have struck my sunroof. The roadway was smooth and my sunroof has never sustained any damage in the past.

Driving down the road at about 55 or 60 mph with no one in front of me or behind me, the sunroof of my 2009 GMC Yukon exploded. I say it exploded because the noise was deafening like an explosion. The covering to the interior of the car was closed or glass would have gone on or in me. Gm representative claims this is not under warranty and so we are paying our deductible & the insurance will pay for all the repairs but that $250.

When it rained, water entered the cabin of the vehicle. The dealership maintained that the water was coming through the roof. The dealership replaced the seal on the rear and the front of the sunroof but the problem recurred.

When it rains water leaks inside the sun roof. Also, water leaks into sun roof when vehicle is inside a car wash. There is technical service bulletin 01448 which deals with this problem. Dealer attempted to repair vehicle on four different occasions.
