Srs light came on while stationary at home parked. I went to Honda dealership and was told it has a 7-3 code for internal failure. They advised me to pay $1056 to replace computer. They said this only comes on when vehicle has been in an accident and airbags deployed. My car has never been in accident. I feel this is a manufacturing defect as well as a safety issue and should be covered. They told me my airbags may or may not deploy. Two years ago my srs light had cam on and they said it was for seat belts and they covered it. Why would this not be covered as well. This is a very common problem for other people when I searched on google people have this same problem.
4th July my wife was in a collision which resulted in her suffering memory loss, speech issues , stutter, a severe concussion and weeks and weeks on continued therapy to include physical therapy, speech therapy and continued care. The air bag didnt deploy . No reason with the damage sustained by the car it shouldn't have deployed. My three children where also in the car to include my 12yr old son in the front passenger. My child sustained minor bumps and bruises but as a result of failed equipment my wife nearly forgot who I was to include last last ten years of our lives amoungst other things , and could possibly have most her life. One of the doctor diagnosis is : concussion with loss of consciousness, subsequent encounter. (speech pathological treatment plan ongoing ) my wife is also unable to work and provide , and take care of my children in my absence. Vehicle was in motion , speed 40-55mph ohio state route 68 in urbana, ohio. Night time following July 4th fireworks.
The contact owned a 2000 Honda Accord. While driving approximately 30 mph, the contact's vehicle was involved in a three vehicle crash, which caused severe damage to the front end. The driver's side air bag and side curtain air bags did not deploy. The contact stated that the front passenger side air bag deployed although the front passenger seat was unoccupied during the crash. The driver sustained injuries to the chest, right knee, and left toe, which required medical attention. The vehicle was destroyed and towed. A police report was filed. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 63,000.

For 20 years Honda has known about substandard/defective parts comprising the air bag system in their vehicles. To date, they have no replacement parts to correct the defects. My Honda coupe is 20 years old. How much longer must I wait until this hazardous air bag system is repaired? in 2014, my vehicle was hit from the rear while stopped by another vehicle going 33 mph and my air bags never deployed. I sustained injuries from this accident.
To whom it may concern, through this letter, I wish to inform you of my disagreement with the evaluation of the air bags in my 2000 Honda Accord. I was involved in an accident and the air bags did not deploy to protect me. When I addressed my concern to the dalton agency, I was informed that the service manager, manuel páez navarro and the head of mechanics, jorge cardenas only do oil change and filters. They advised if I wanted to know why the air bags did not function correctly, that I should pay a technician $600. 00 pesos to connect a scanner to my car to see if there is an error in the system, an error that may have been there from the beginning when the car was assembled. Please understand that the factory invoice for my auto specifies that it has air bags at the highest security level. That is why I?ve taken my car to be service regularly at the dalton agency to keep all warranties in place. I placed my trust in the agency, in the Honda company and in the global brand and feel that I have been misled about service and quality. I am totally disappointed by the lack of concern from individual lives. The trauma, injury and rehabilitation after the accident has been terrible, least having to deal with you has caused unnecessary frustration and fear. Knowing that the air bag situation has been called a simple mistake or accident does not help my dilemma. Luckily I am alive today, but a few centimeters could have made a big difference and caused a tragic story. What has happened to me could have happen to anyone else, especially someone having a hard time in life. Please consider taking responsibility and do the ?right thing?. I?m attaching pictures and copies of all documents for your review and providing the following information: license plate #: 124-ppu service history: 2001 ? present service agency: Honda dalton polanco DE méxico, d. On November 26, 2012 my srs light came on and has stayed on since. This vehicle though it is a 2000 Honda Accord has only 66,200 original miles will cost about $800-$900 to repair. This is an issue which involves the safety of the driver and any passengers. I am told it could be a possible danger if the airbag does not deploy in any accident. I am not sure of the significance; I get different stories from folks. It is my understanding from some research that this light could possibly come on and stay on after recent transmissions problems. May 9, 2012 just five months after having my transmission fluid replaced I needed to have a rebuilt transmission at a cost of $3757. For several weeks I had discussions with Honda customer service department to no avail. I personally will never buy another Honda product in my lifetime and intend to discuss this situation with any person considering buying this product. I have been a loyal and faithful car owner with my Honda dealer since I purchased the vehicle. I received all scheduled services even though I did not have the recommended mileage. This is my reward, a rotten car from a rotten company.
I purchased a 2000 Honda Accord for my daughter and the srs light came on. I took it to the dealer who scanned it and said it needed a new opds unit and sensor costing over $800. 50. As I research it, I am astonished to see how many Honda's are affected by this problem and that a widespread recall is not in effect. Please investigate this serious safety issue that could cause airbags not to deploy. This is unacceptable in this day and age.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact was driving 35 mph when another vehicle drove through a stop sign and crashed into the front of the contact’s vehicle. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belt tightened around the contact. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis. The contact was advised that the seat belt buckle assembly would need to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and the current mileage was 869,900.
Srs in 2000 Honda Accord is on. Advised it is the opds sensor, and opds unit. Recalls on similar models, but not my VIN #. Air bag will not deploy if there is an accident.
Srs light illuminated, airbags will not deploy if involved in accident. This has occurred on our 2000 Honda Accord with 67k miles on it. We understand that the warranty has been extended for this issue to 10 years or 150k miles, ours is now ten years old. We feel this is unacceptable and that Honda should cover this for the lifetime of the vehicle. This is why people buy vehicles with all the airbags. . . Safety! Honda should cover this problem no questions asked!! for life.
Honda Accord 2000 srs light on and stays on. Checked on line many Honda owners have that issue and airbag would not deploy. Called Honda customer service told me my VIN is not covered under their extended warranty, need to pay for diagnostic check. This is serious safety issue, wanted to bring to your attention.
The srs light has turned on so there is something wrong with the air bags. If anyone were to get in an accident deaths will occur as the air bags may not deploy. With a bit of research I have found that this is a common problem with Honda Accords dating from 1998-2011. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The air bag warning light was illuminated on the instrument control panel, which indicates that the air bags are inoperative. As a consequence in a situation that warrants the air bags may fail to deploy. No repairs were made. The failure mileage was 90,800. The current mileage was 91,000.
Srs sensor light has been on for about half a year now continuously without apparent reason. Dealer previously replaced the opds unit (about 2 years ago) and prior to that reset it a few times, but now the car's warranty has expired and srs light is on again. Dealer now wants to charge a $75 inspection fee plus $400-$700 to replace the unit, a unit that mind you was already supposed to have been replaced. Worried air bags will not properly deploy in the event of a wreck and also that our car will not pass annual state dot inspection. With the exceedingly high number of issues with this same problem, hopefully Honda will have to do a recall to fix these units once and for all.
I have a 2000 Honda Accord with 2 door and 4 cylinder; mileage is about 105000. The car has the srs sign on it. Took it to couple dealers and talked to some car enthusiasts, and they say it's an airbag issue. Airbag may not deploy in case of an accident. Honda dealer wants to charge around 100+ to diagnose and then would tell me how much it will take to fix the problem. I feel if it's a safety issue, it should be taken care of by Honda.
The contact owns a 2002 Honda Accord. While driving 30 mph, the contact crashed into the driver side door of another vehicle. The driver sustained injuries to her left leg and side. A police report was filed. The seat belt did not restrain her from moving forward and the air bag failed to deploy. The dealer replaced the seat belt buckle in June of 2007 and diagnosed the vehicle due to the srs light illuminating. In August of 2002, the srs was replaced due to recall number 02v051000 (seat belts:front:buckle assembly). Honda also sent an investigator to inspect the vehicle and concluded that they were not responsible for the failure. The current mileage was 51,250 and failure mileage was 51,184. The consumer stated was severely injured with hernia on right side and fractured pelvis on left major surgery to be performed. The consumer further stated seatbelt did not restrain nor did airbags deploy. Updated 09/10/07.
2000 Honda Accord hit the back of a Hyundai sonoma at rate of speed around 50 mph. Air bags on Honda did not deploy for driver or passenger sides. Driver obtained head injuries and neck trauma. Honda is at tow yard.
: the contact stated while driving 25 mph the vehicle was hit by another vehicle on the driver's side, this caused the contact to hit another vehicle with the front passenger side. The air bags did not deploy, seat belts were in use and no injuries were sustained. The police were on the scene however no report was filed. The interior lights work intermittently. There are several indicator lights that do not work at all, and the lights that do work dim without warning. There is a NHTSA recall # 02v08000, regarding the fontal air bags and a NHTSA recall # 04v256000, regarding the interior lighting. The VIN was not included in the recall.
My supplemental restraint system (srs) warning light went on. This is serious because when the light is on, Honda told me, that the airbags are disengaged. I took the 2006 Honda Accord sedan v6 to the dealer. The service department told me that there was a service bulletin out on this problem, 02-077 dated Dec 17, 2002. I was told it would take $1600 to fix. I read the service bulletin. It states that this problem is due to static electricity problem in the system. As an electrical engineer this means there is a design problem with this vehicle. Even though this is a design problem and the bulletin came out while my car was still under warranty, Honda, east coast headquarters, has only offered to cover parts. I believe that this not just my problem and that Honda needs to issue a recall due to the safety issues related to a srs light. Again, when the srs light is on, airbags will not deploy.
At 84,366 miles my car's check engine light came on. Took Accord to mechanic and was told the egr valve error code appeared. The mechanic said to take to Honda due to recall for this part. Picked car up from mechanic and car also had srs light on. Researched online since I already have recall for dash light. Found many other Honda owners with same srs light. Found out my air bags will not function if sensor illuminated. Also, called Honda and they said I was beyond the mileage (80k) for the extended warranty on the defective egr valve replacement. Asked what Honda was doing about the front airbags and was told no decision has been made. I have also discovered my car has the extended warranty for defective/faulty transmission. So when I'm driving down the highway my tranmsmission may give out at high rate of speed and if collsion occurs, my air bags will not deploy. My seat weld joint broke at 54k too! I used a 99 Toyota 4runner as replacement vehicle and discovered the seatbelt warning light came on when my 40lb. Dog sat in passenger front seat. My Accord never has detected my dog in the front seat ever! this car is riddled with safety defects and poor manufacturing. Honda should be held responsible for protecting the owners from injury including monetary repairs/ replacement costs for all of these safety defects and engine defects.
My 2000 Honda Accord v-6 has approximately 85,000 miles on it and I have had very few problems. Always took to dealer for maintenance/repair. I had the alternator replaced in June 2005, and within 2 weeks of getting the car back, the srs light came on. I called the dealer and they said I should bring the car in right away. I paid $68 to have the system "tested" and was told I needed to replace the entire computer system for the air bags at a cost of $575, or I could have them reset it and it may or may not come back on. I asked what happens when the light was on and was told that the airbags just won't work. I opted for the reset. Now, 2 weeks later, the light is back on. I have done some internet research and have found that not only is this a known problem, but the "cures" that are suggested by the dealer are all over the map. I find it incredible that Honda is not responsible for this defect in a mandated safety device. My family will hold Honda responsible if I am injured or killed due to a non-inflating airbag. I do not believe the company is taking the airbag issue seriously. My daughter was thankfully not killed in a serious accident last June in her civic, whose airbags did not deploy when she was hit with such force that it tore the front engine housing off her car and resulted in a total loss. The Honda folks told us then that sometimes the car isn't "hit the right way" and the sensors don't register that the airbags should deploy. I think the same government that requires these devices be installed on all cars (and the ones we pay for when purchasing the cars) should hold the car makers/dealers responsible for making sure they are operable.
While simply driving, the srs light on the dash turned on for my 2000 Honda Accord v6. It appears that many people receive the srs light in their Hondas, yet few ever go get them fixed. The light has been fixed by the dealer for a whopping ~$400! this is absolutely outrageous. No wonder the people I know that has the srs light don't want to get it fixed. This is a safety hazard for the driver and should be fixed for free! there were no injuries or and crashes in my case, but if there was to be a good sized accident, the airbags will not deploy. The dealer, I believe, replaced the entire driver's seat and the srs sensor. Please, this has been a frequent problem with Hondas - that the srs light would spontaneously light up. This problem has to be addressed as this is a serious safety hazard.
Subject: Honda 2000 Accord srs light safety defect dear administrator: Honda dealer at salinas in California performed recall ?ignition lock? work on my car on 3/16/05 (please see attached invoice). After that, the srs (airbags) light remains on my car. My car currently only has 32,600 miles. Before the dealer performed the recall work, my car was perfectly fine. I called dealer about this srs light issue. Dealer said I have to pay $101 for a computer diagnoses plus extra fee to fix the problem found. I, however, disagree because the srs light was on right after the dealer performed the recall work. Before that, my car was in the perfectly shape and never got involve in any accident. As the dealer said, the airbags will not deploy while the srs light is on. I think my car?s srs light issue is caused by either the dealer is unable to remedy the defect in my vehicle or it is another safety defect in Honda 2000 Accord. Therefore, your kind help on my case is greatly appreciated! sincerely, lianghua shu p. S. Car info: Honda 2000 Accord lx 4dr, VIN: jhmcg6656yc026366.
2000 Honda Accord was involved in an accident where the passenger side air bag deployed but the driver's side air bag did not deploy. The impact was on the front driver's side. Prior to this accident the vehicle srs light had illuminated several times. The dealer reset it once, replaced a sensor in the seat back of the passenger's seat and replaced the driver's seat belt clasp.
I have the known issue with my 2000 Honda Accord where the srs airbag light stays on. You can do a google search and see the widespread nature of this problem. Honda says if the airbag light is on the airbag may not deploy in a accident and others have had the airbag go off while driving normally. When I call my dealer they pretend not to know anything and want tons of money to even check it out. I have the Honda care extended warranty and the dealer won't even verify if the problem is covered or not.
While sitting in the vehicle it was struck by another vehicle head on. The passenger side air bag deployed, however, the driver's side air bag did not deploy. The consumer sustained injuries.
Consumer's vehicle was hit on the front left fender at about 15 mph. Upon impact, the air bags did not deploy.
I bought a Honda Accord lx 2000 in 2004 with 46 k on it. Shortly thereafter the srs light came on. I was at the dealership to inquire why it was on. They told me it was because my airbag might not deploy in the case of an accident. Not able to bear the expense of repair, I have driven it as is & the current mileage is almost 87,000.
While driving 60 mph driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and hit the vehicle in front. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection.
The contact stated the air bags did not deploy when the vehicle crashed while traveling at 5 mph. The consumers foot slipped off the gas pedal and hit another vehicle. The contact sustained minor head and neck injuries. Upon impact, neither of the air bags deployed. He has not contacted the manufacturer. The vehicle has been repaired, and is now drivable. A police report was taken. Updated 11/29/05.
Summary:on the 2000 Honda Accord after having problems with the alternator the air bags would be useless in a crash unless Honda services the vehicle and erases the failure code the computer is reporting. I recently had the alternator in my 2000 Accord ex v6 replaced because it was not working. After it was replaced the srs (air bag) light was on and would not turn off. I then went to the local Honda service center and they told me that because the alternator was not powering the computer that controls the airbags with the correct voltage it triggered the failure light. I was then told that while the light is on the air bags are disabled and would not be deployed in the event of a crash. I then told the employee that this was the stupidest thing I have ever heard, and is there any way to reset the system. I was told the car would have to be serviced and hooked up to their computer system to reset the cars internal computer (at a cost of $89. 00). I set up an appointment to have this done next week but got to thinking how this is truly a safety issue. The system should reset itself when everything is normal so the consumer does not have to drive around in a car with air bags that do not deploy in the event of a crash. To have the car disable this vital part of its safety features because the voltage dropped below a certain point makes no sense. I can see it detecting an error but then when everything is back to normal it should reset. Now the car is working perfectly but because the computer detected that one error now the air bags will not work at all until Honda resets it (and takes $89. 00).
While driving and being hit on the front right side of vehicle air bags did not deploy. Dealer notified.
While driving 60mph, consumer hit a pig weighing approx. 250 to 300 lbs. And airbags didnot deploy. Took to dealer and dealer indicated voltage was to low on airbags. Consumer is concerned because previous vehicle was traded in for airbag same problem. Photos attached.
