1 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2009

I went to the Honda dealer , I asked them to replace the air bag module of my Honda Accord 2000 . The air bag of this vehicle is turned on all the time . I showed them copy of the odi NHTSA campaign id number : 02v080000. They claimed that I have to pay $89. 00 to test the car , and then they will check the VIN number. They requested the letter from Honda in order to proceed. Please advise me.

2 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2008

On September 27, 2008 I was involved in a collision where the front of my vehicle collided with the back of a stopped vehicle at a significant speed. The airbags in my 2000 Honda Accord did not inflate. The extent of the damages totaled the vehicle and I was interested in determining if the vehicle's airbags were defective at the time of the collision.

3 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/09/2008

I have a 2000 Honda Accord lx. The srs light came on a few weeks ago and it has remained on ever since. I was looking at some blogs and a number of Accord owners (2000 and 2001 model years) have this problem.

4 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2008

My 2000 Honda Accord se is approaching 107,000 miles. Around a week ago (June 1s, 2008) , srs light came on and has stayed on ever since.

5 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2008

The srs light has been on constantly for the past week. The dealer charges $97 just to diagnose the problem. After reading about all the similar complaints on this site and the fact that this is a safety issue, I don't believe there should be any charge to repair the airbag system.

6 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/31/2007

I have a 2000 Honda Accord ex-v6 coupe and for about about a week now the srs light will not go out. I contacted Honda and was told there was not a recall and warranty would not cover after 10 years or 150,000 miles (which ever came first) I have 188,000 on my car so I did some searching on the internet and was stunned to find so many people looking for a solution to get the srs light off. So if I am in a accident will the airbags deploy? I think someone should find out before a death results from this issue this is a safety hazard and should definitely be looked into. Please do a little research and require Honda to do a recall.

7 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2007

Without any reason whatsoever, srs light came on and dealer would not even diagnose the problem without a substantial payment. I've read on the web that many Honda users experience this problem around 100k miles. Air bags are federally mandated safety equipment like seatbelts. Seatbelts are covered by life-time warranty and so should be the air bags. The customer should not have to pay for failures of life-saving equipment that is not due to wear and tear or accident.

8 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2006

Car hit a ditch going 40-50 mph. Air bags didn't deploy resulting in broken rib subdural hematoma and severe bruising on head and chest. Car was totaled out by insurance company.

9 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2006

The srs light came on indicating that the passenger airbag would not work. I called my Honda dealer and they told me that "some" of the 2000 Accords were covered in by an extended (10 year, 150k mile) warranty for this system. However, when they ran the VIN on my 2000 Accord, they informed me that mine was not covered. They could give me no answer as to why some of 2000 were covered but mine, which has this critical safety problem, was not. Honda is making a big mistake with this vital safety issue.

10 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2006

The srs unit for airbag deployment has failed on my 2000 Honda Accord lx with 104,000 miles. The Honda dealers want ~$740. 00 to replace this unit as there is no extended warranty or coverage beyond the manufacturers 36/36 factory warranty. Considering the essential necessity of this unit it seems unreasonable for this unit should fail within 104,000 miles and in less than 6 years. I had today 3 different Honda dealerships tell me today that it can be expected that these units will begin failing at 100,000 miles! how can this be the case? isn't it reasonable to expect the safety of the airbags being deployed in a car that is in very good condition mechanically and structurally to continue for a much longer period? isn't it also to be expected that early failure of this unit should be covered either fully or partially by Honda? it is reasonable to think so. I also own a 1992 and a 1994 Honda Accord with the same srs unit with no failures having occurred. I would like the NHTSA to investigate this matter as to premature failure occurring.

11 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2005

I have a 2000 Honda Accord sedan and my srs light came on one day & ever since then it has not went off. I am very concern about this with 2 kids that rides in this car I brought this car because it is known for its safety and is dependable. But if the airbags don't deploy that is dangerous.

12 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 04/03/2005

Dt:the contact stated the passenger's side front air bag deployed without a collision while the consumer was driving a t40-50 mph. She did not hit anything. She was on a paved road and did not go over any big bumps in the road. The srs light was coming on and going off intermittently a couple of weeks prior to this happening. No one was hurt. The dealer gave her an estimate of $2,000. 00 to put it back the air bag back in. She contacted Honda and they decided there was nothing wrong with the air bag.

13 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2005

Srs light remains on. Side srs comes on in turns. Dealer has stated that something in the seat needs to be replaced and we have no driver srs at this time. Vehicle is under used certified warranty but dealer states this is not covered by warranty. We puchased a Honda (have owned many!) because of reliability, durability and safety. Does not federal law require srs on current model vehicles? how can such a company refuse to fix such a major problem>>>.

18 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2003

I was driving on the freeway when all of a sudden a car cut in front of me. Then the flow of traffic came to a complete halt. I applied my brakes. The car that cut me off, moved out from the lane I was on into the next lane. I was involved in a rear end collision with Honda crv. My Honda Accord 2000 received major damage . The front srs airbags never functioned. This collision took place in the freeway at least 40 miles per hour. The front airbags didn't work. The Honda dealership that I took my car for repairs which came out to five thousand dollars, told me that the reason the airbags didn't work was because it was not a direct hit, in other words they didn't want to be held responsible for checking the airbags or replacing them. They stated, that there was no recall from Honda on the airbags. The community Honda dealership just replaced the parts that where damaged in the collision. The front end of the car was damaged badly, it was pushed back approximately 3 feet. I was lucky, not to have had serious injuries. However, I don't trust the front airbags because they should of functioned and they didn't. I, strongly believe that Honda motors u. S. A. Should correct the problem with the airbags at no charge. Someone should investigate this problem with this vehicle the Honda Accord se 2000. Vehicle # jhmcg6694yc020908. Thank you.

19 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2003

2000 Accord srs light came on and dealer refused to fix the vehicle. Customer states Honda should fix his vehicle with no charge since he was not aware of the recall on the air bags. The consumer learned the manufacturer had extended the warranty to 10 years or 150,000 which ever came first, however the consumers vehicle has exceeded the 150,000 mark.

20 Front Air Bag problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2001

We have not received an estimate on the damages from the appraiser/insurance company. Vehicle was hit on the driver side on the headlight at an angle. This threw the vehicle into a ditch on the right side. The I-beam from the frame can be seen thru the bumper to illustrate the impact on both driver and passenger side. The police and the tow truck operator immediately pointed out that they felt the driver airbag should have deployed. I filed a complaint with Honda consumer affairs on 5/7/01, but have not heard a word from them since. I would like to get the car inspected by a professional before anyone starts tampering with the vehicle.

Was traveling about 65mph on highway and another vehicle jumped in front of consumer's vehicle. He applied brakes and dual airbags didn't go off.
