I have experienced a recurring failure with the s. R. S. Module in a 2000 Honda Accord the module was replaced a 28,000 miles and again at 75,000 miles the warning light went on again at about 82,000 miles. Seems there is a manufacturing defect in this module.

Air bag cel is on thus disable the air bag function in the car. Check system results in no apparent problem. Reset would clear the problem from 1 day to 1 month, then the cel is re-appeared again. According to the mechanic, the problem is a faulty air bag control module from the manufacture and affect many similar cars within this model year. People on the internet forum are experienced the same thing with this srs warning light. Since this is related to the function of vehicle airbag system, this should be a major concern of safety issue. Please look into it and advice us. . . . The consumer. So far, the Honda dealer does not acknowledge the existing problem and demand an expensive fix in the air bag control module. Thank you for your helps.

Same problem as described in investigation #pe05043. The red srs warning light stuck on in my 2000 Honda Accord exv6 recently. It is after the warranty expired. There are two lights related to airbag in the car, one red, one orange "side airbag off". The orange light comes on and off depends on whether there is a light object on the passenger seat or not. The red light indicates problems and does not goes off even there is nothing on the front passenger seat. It is the first time we saw the red light stuck on in the past 5 years since we bought the car new. From searching the internet, we know the problem is common, and can be recurring. Honda has the obligation to fix the design, and recall the cars. Please help us! let me know if you need further info regarding my car.

The airbag warning light (srv) came on, and local garage checked it out on their computer. They came up with a "code 9-2 air bag internal fault", and said I would have to take it to the Honda dealer for repair. I took it to the Honda dealer, and was told that they would have to run their own independent computer check, and, if a fault was found, I would be responsible for the cost of repair. My complaint: first, air bags being such an important safety item, and their installation mandated by the government, I feel that when a defect appears, a recall at the manufacturer's expense is in order. Second, if the safety board does not have a sufficient number of similiar complaints to order a recall, then at the very least the manufacturer should be required to pay for the computer test.

Air bag warning light came on while driving. Dealership did a diagnostic test in which the opds unit failed. This rendered the air bag as inoperative. The opds unit had to be replaced.

Auto would not pass state inspection with srs light on, so fixed again ($500 repair bill) at Acura dealer that sold car to me. Talked to several other Honda owners and this seems to be a common problem and possible latent defect in manufacturer's product.

The servicing dealership (gillman Honda - houston) said the fault is due to a misdesign by Honda. This problem may prevent the airbags from deploying (if the srs fault light is illuminated again). A safety recall should be considered.
