Takata recall: daughter sustained a medical emergency while stopped at a light wherein she lost consciousness, hitting the car in front of her -- presumably not at a high speed. Driver's airbag did not go off but passenger airbag did, despite no one, and nothing, being in the seat. VIN is not on recall list (which mysteriously only goes back to mid-2001). Called Honda multiple times and they will not inspect car, and do not care to investigate issue because the VIN is not currently on the recall list. Is the driver side airbag faulty (should it have gone off), or was the passenger side faulty (should it not have gone off-- I was told the latter at the body shop)? the car is not worth fixing given the fact that one airbag replacement alone costs approx a couple thousand dollars.
Was in an accident, car was totalled. No airbags went off exwct the passwnger side airbag, which no one or anything was in the seat. Was a head on collision. Was moving about 20 to 30 miles an hour. Comung to a stop.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph when the passenger side air bag deployed inadvertently without impact to the vehicle. There was not an occupant in the passenger seat at the time. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 146,300.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer to be repaired under the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 01v380000 (seat belts:front:buckle assembly). Upon receiving the vehicle, the horn was no longer functioning. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was informed that the front drivers side air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 33,213.
1. Srs readiness indicator illumination for no apparent reason. 2. Srs readiness indicator illumination constant with no physical consequences to date. 3. Awaiting repair.
Nhtsa action number: pe05043 already had service in 2009, srs problem back, dealer refused warranty corrective action.
My wife was driving 2000 Honda Accord ex when the drivers side airbag deployed for no reason. No collision took place. There was no reason why this should happen. No major injury, just a little banged up.
The srs indicator of my Honda Accord 2000se is always on.
Passenger side airbag light illuminated.
My 2000 Honda Accord se v4 auto has the mileage of 86,000. No accident or anything. Out of nowhere, srs light stayed on. I have nothing on or around the passage seat. The car does not have side airbags. It bothers me a lot because of safety concern. I called Honda dealer and was told that they'd need the car during weekday for a whole day to diagnose, and cost would be from $150. 00 and up. Sky is the limit. Besides, I can't go to work without the car or I have to rent a car myself. What a hassle. I am not sure if Honda warranty covers srs light. I searched on the internet just to find out that I am not alone.
I own a 2000 Honda Accord ex-v6. My srs light has come on twice now. The first time I had it reset by the dealer, and it cost me $100. They also claimed it was my front impact sensor. This vehicle has not been bumped or had an accident since I have owned it, so I fail to see how that could break. Now, the second time, the srs light has again come on and has been on my dash for several months. I am fairly certain that I will not have a functional driver's side airbag if ever I am hit. This is a huge safety issue. I have read several similar complaints about this srs light situation on your site and many others. I believe that this problem warrants a recall, as the dealer is set to charge me close to $400 to replace the sensor and still cannot guarantee this will fix the problem in the long-term. Since this is so prevalent, why is this not a priority??? this should be a recall or some sort of campaign, because frankly, many of us feel very unsafe. Updated 01/02/08. Updated 12/12/07.
Side air bag: light comes on and turns off intermittently for no given reason. This has been happening since I bought the car in January 2007. Tried to get assistance from buerkle Honda who did not make any notes about my request. Now tell me I need a new electrical system and that it means the air bags will not work.
(1) 2000 Honda Accord was t-boned on drivers side of car. My car was traveling at 40-45 mph when the impact occured. The other vehicle was traveling at a higher speed than mine at time of impact (2) the failure was the side air bag did not inflate. The center post of the car was jammed into the driver seat and then into my shoulder. (3) Honda dealer in iowa where car is being repaired was not concerned that air bag did not infate.

I wont buy a Honda never again . . . And I hope don't die driving this one with out air bags . . . . . . . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Srs light remains on. Side srs comes on in turns. Dealer has stated that something in the seat needs to be replaced and we have no driver srs at this time. Vehicle is under used certified warranty but dealer states this is not covered by warranty. We puchased a Honda (have owned many!) because of reliability, durability and safety. Does not federal law require srs on current model vehicles? how can such a company refuse to fix such a major problem>>>.
While in moderate traffic vehicle was struck from the rear and on driver's side, causing vehicle to rear end another vehicle in front, and crashing into a guard rail. Upon impact, none of the air bags deployed. Driver sustained a concussion, and passenger sustained minor bruises. An ambulance transported both of them to the local hospital. Police report was taken.
On 9-25-03 while driving my Honda, I heard a loud thud I thought someone hit my car, when I looked my side airbag was released, without my car not being impacted by any thing, I took to Honda service and was told district manager has to inspect my car so now I am waiting.
The srs light remains on and will not go out. No repairs has been done regarding srs system.
Consumer was going around a curve about 40-45mph and hit a patch of gravel. Consumer hydroplaned into a ditch, and driver side airbag didn't deploy. Consumer had severe neck/shoulder injuries. Dealer was waiting to hear from insurance company. Dealer stated the airbag did everything it was suppose to do, not deploy. Dealer felt it was up to insurance to say it was supposed to deploy. The passenger side air bag did experience deployment, insurance company has decided other airbag should have deployed, consumer states usaa insurance company, skip holliday, has information regarding reports.
While traveling at40 mph another vehicle cut consumer off. As a result of an accident, passanger's side air bag went off, but driver's side did not deploy. Consumer suffered injuries.
The drivers side airbag went off for no reason. Honda couldn't find a cause. Implied it was my fault but paid for replacing it.
Side air bag light is intermittently on. So sometimes I panick because I'm afriad it will release while iam driving and cause me to have an accident.
Driver was making a left hand turn when driver was hit on the passenger's side with a hard impact that pushed vehicle into another vehicle. Upon impact, side airbags for driver and passenger did not deploy, causing injuries to passenger.
When vehicle was involved in an inter-sectional crash passenger's side air bag deployed, but driver's side air bag did not deploy. Vehicle was more damaged on the driver's side. The car had been brought in to dealer right after purchase because air bag light came on. Dealer could not find any thing wrong with system and reset the light on the dashboard. . Et.
I have taken my 2000 Honda Accord into the dealership multiple times because the side airbag light will intermittently come on and stay on while driving, thereby disabling the side airbag system. This occurs mostly when nobody is sitting in the passenger seat. I have taken this to three Honda dealers and each and every one says that they don't know how to fix it. What do I do? I bought the car because of the protection the side bags offered, yet they seem to be inoperative a lot of the time and nobody knows how to fix them.
The "srs" light comes on, indicating a problem with airbag system, both frontal and side airbags . Dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem or which airbag system is having the problem. Please provide further information.
