2 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/12/2012

Transmission was starting to jerk forward and balking when starting from a start. Transmission started to over heat. My son said that the car seamed to just give out on highway and scared him as it caused a strange feeling of something terrible wrong. Now when transmission is put into reverse a very startling noise like a loud bang is happening. Now I am afraid to let my son because of safety reasons use it. I am on a fixed income and I always take care of this car, but this is just going to break me to try to get fixed. I have read so many complaints since I started to investigate this problem that I just can't believe that Honda and the NHTSA has not remedied this dangerous and expensive problem. I had the same problem with Toyota on rusting frame rails that almost killed me and my daughter. I had to try to sell my tacoma truck at more than half its resale value, because Toyota just like Honda just wont admit or fix this serious problem. By the time the NHTSA did get Toyota to do something about the unsafe frame rust most of us owners had already had to try to get what ever money we could try to get. It was horrible to lose all that money and try to get another vehicle. Now Honda is playing with NHTSA and it is starting all over again for a lot of us Honda owners. What more can us owners do to get our fair share. I know I filed a complaint against Toyota and now Honda. I hope nhsta does something fast because as of now I have no car to use. Lets right this now. I know that a lot of hard working people deserve better than what Honda is even thinking of doing or not doing to right this problem.

3 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 01/18/2010

2000 Honda Accord lx sedan, current mileage 165k miles. Transmission final drive unit a lot of play in the carrier bearings. The original transmission was replaced under the "transmission warranty extension campaign" on 09/01/2005 at 90k miles. August of 2009, 155k miles, took car into Honda dealer for service and to isolate scrapping noise, dealer unable to determine source. On Feb 18, 2010 took car back to Honda dealer and noise was isolated to transmission final drive, alot of play in carrier bearings. Remedy According to service manager is to replace transmission at a cost of $2700 + tax. Opened case number with Honda corp on 02/18/10 asking assistance in cost of replacing transmission. Honda representative denied assistance on 02/24/10. The car has been maintained by Honda dealer and is in good mechanical shape other than transmission. I feel the replacement transmission is as defective as the one they replaced. I will be replacing transmission either at my cost or dealers cost.

4 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2005

I bought my 2000 Honda Accord 2 drive in December 1999 brand new, and my first problem was the clunking noise everytime I would reverse. It felt I had hit something because it would jerk. I contacted the dealer and my transmission was replaced after only 4 months of having the car. Then again in 2002 my car started jerking and taking a long delay getting in gear. I took it into the dealer and my transmission was replaced at no charge. Now it's 2005, and I was advised I need another transmission because it jerks when I accelerate and it also delays when going into gear (feels like it in neutral when I'm accelerating). I've lost my faith in Honda's and something has to be done about this because I know of other people same car same problems.

5 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 04/05/2005

2000 Honda Accord lx v6 automatic, with what else " transmission trouble" we purchased car and within 2 months would make horrible bang noide while backing up. Took to dealership with complaint 5 seperate times and they lied stating they did not know what problem was and could not find anything wrong. When I demanded the service manager and their transmission tech meet me one morning I described the problem and the tech knew exactly what it was and that a new transmission would need to be installed. After they put god knows what in it I tooks it back complaining of a noise they said they had it on the lift listened to it and could not find anything except tire noise, they thing broke right in there parking lot when we went to pick it up. I just looked at the jerk manager and said to him " couldn't find nothing wrong, don't ever go hicking there are rattlesnakes that make less noise than this transmission did and we don't need to loose anymore liars on our little planet now do we?!!!!". He had no response. Well now transmission # 3 is getting ready to bite the dirt, has been serviced every 30,000 miles and needing replaced with only 118,000 miles on vehicle, 68,000 since last one was put in. It will be the absolute coldest day in hell before I ever darken Hondas doors again.

6 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 03/10/2005

Honda automatic transmission are failing left and right, and the new transmission Honda is replacing with are as bad as the originals. My 2000 Honda Accord automatic transmission failed at 53000 mile after many miles of making whistling, clicking, grinding noises and generally giving the impression you were about to be stranded. Honda replaced transmission under extended warranty in March of 2005 after requiring me to spend a $100 bucks to service the old one prior to diagnostics. Replacement transmission jerks and makes all kinds of noise when put in reverse and hit the gas. Local Honda dealer (hughes Honda in warner robins, GA) tries to link it to the some brake pad alignment non-sense in an attempt to get another $130 out of me. I told the service manager to change the pads with the agreement being the dealership would absorb the cost if the transmission noise was not fixed. Then the pads they just told me were worn out all of a sudden had tons of life left. The car with the same brake components and pads did not make the noise until after the new transmission was installed. Honda has a real problem and should be forced via recall to address any and all transmission problems or buy the car back.

7 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2000

Transmission made a loud sqeaking noise and the air bag system failed twice. The dealer was informed appx. 7 day after the car was purchased of the problem and insisted it was just new car noises they will work themselves out. And again in April may I informed the dealer and the same things was said. Now I have a replaced transmission and they do not know why the srs system keeps failing.

8 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2000

Heard a grinding noise from the front of the car. Upon investigation at the dealership, they said it needs a new transmission. I have lost faith in the quality of Honda. I am going get the new transmission put in tomorrow. I will post about that experience later (I hope it is good). However, because my warranty is going to run out in less than 3000 miles, I need an extended power train warranty from Honda. If Honda does not come around, I will trade this carr and never buy another Honda in my life and I will never recommend it to anyone I do not consider as my enemy.

9 Transmission Noise problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2000

Transmission replaced at 1308 miles & now the car doesn't ride smooth. At lower speed the car is jerky, hesitates, slow down very quickly as soon as you left off the gas, feels llike the brake is on. Also has a noise coming from front right of car everytime I start up and pull away I hear it once. Didn't hear it with the original transmission. The whole feel of the car driving is very different with the new transmission and I really don't like it. It's not smooth and flowy like the first transmission. It's very tight and feels like you constantly need gas. Rides terrible on hills. I told Honda that my wheels pull left on highway driving and they told me that's normal. Not happy here.

10 Transmission Noise problem

With the car is put into reverse gear, this causes the automatic transmission to make a loud metal to metal popping noise.
