"takata recall" I was coming to a stop for a traffic light and did not brake in time to stop my vehicle before I tapped into the rear bumper of an SUV. I was going very slow /probably under 10mph. My drivers side airbag deployed and I got cuts on my arm and a chemical burn as well. My drivers side seatbelt is not working now (locked. ) I have slight damage on the right front passenger side bumper. I became aware of the takata airbag recall after this happened. This occurred on 2/20/2017 in the daytime/ clear, sunny skies.
"takata recall" my Honda was totaled in February, it was a head on collision and not one of the airbags deployed. This car is supposed to be equipped with airbags in front and side airbags. Not one deployed. I had 3 recalls on airbags and returned to the dealership each time to have them fixed but that did not help. The vehicle was in motion when hit on a highway. It was turning and a truck hit me head on. I have attached images.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. While driving 5 mph, the vehicle was involved in a crash and the passenger side air bag deployed even though no one was sitting in the seat. The contact did not specify if there were any injuries sustained or if a police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was confirmed that the air bag deployed prematurely and the passenger seat headliner, air bag, and seat cover needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 151,000. Updated 7/13/cn the consumer stated the air should not have deployed under such low speed. Updated 08/13/jb.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. While driving 50 mph over a pothole, the driver's side air bag deployed inadvertently. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 14v351000 (air bags). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 112,000.
Driving south on I 81 at approximately mm 167. 3. Heard a very loud noise, thought I might have had a blow out. There was a burning smell so I thought my car was on fire and I pulled off on the left hand side of the interstate. No flat, nothing burning, no damage to car. Got back in my car and realized passenger side airbags from front to back had deployed, that is what I was smelling but at the time I did not realize my airbags had deployed. I was alone but there is a child car seat in my backseat and if one of my grandchildren had been in the car seat or a passenger in the front seat they could have been badly injured. My car is currently at the Honda dealership and they have provided me a loaner vehicle at no cost to me. They did call this morning to verify that I had not ran over anything or hit anything. There is not damage to my vehicle. The Honda dealership told me they would give me a call once they figured this all out. I am now waiting to see what the outcome will be.
Honda replaced the takata drivers side airbag on my 2005 Honda Accord in January 2015 under the takata airbag recall. However, Honda will not replace the takata passenger side airbag in my car. I do not live in a high humidity state. I am very concerned about this decision by Honda not to replace the passenger side airbag as there are news reports of injury to a passenger from a takata passenger side air bag in 2013. Nhtsa needs to order Honda to replace the takata passenger side air bag on affected Honda cars before someone else is injured.
My 16 year old son was driving to school on the highway. The vehicle speed was approximately 65. For no reason at all, the passenger side airbags exploded causing a quick reaction under extreme fear. Honda has been notified but the local dealer "southpoint Honda" has been rude & accusatory that Honda is not at fault. The Honda recall for airbags is expanding, yet no help. His car is unsafe to drive and is parked. For a single father this is causing great hardship, not to mention the injury that might of occurred to my only child! the excuses are not acceptable!!!!.
After returning my 2005 Honda Accord at the request of sp Honda, tulsa,ok. , american Honda rep e. P. Contradicted what mechanic previously had said. They refused to repair passenger side airbags deployed while driving down highway at 65 mph. The continual lies need to stop. Honda needs to be responsible for their recalls & faulty equipment. To make matters worse, the gm stated " why should we help repair your car when you didn't purchase it from us?" who does business like this? american Honda is being investigated and sp of tulsa should be as well!.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 52 mph, the front and rear air bags inadvertently deployed with no impact to the vehicle. In addition, the passenger's side air bag deployed. The interior roof covering also became detached at the time of the failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for diagnosis but was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 226,000.
Have information that the air bag and side air bag may not be working properly on the passenger side and the shoulder strap on the same side doesn't release as it should. Thanks.
Our Honda Accord was crossing a 4-lane street from a stop sign. A car coming from the right struck the passenger side of our Honda, causing the side air bags to deploy. However, the side air bags did not inflate, causing the passenger to receive bruises and abrasions. Note: although this Honda Accord was a 2005, it had low mileage (30,000) and was in excellent shape. The insurance CO. Totaled the car.
Was driving along on highway when boom!!! the passenger side airbags just deployed on their own. It caused me to swerve and almost crash at 80 mph. My passenger luckily sustained minor injuries. There was no reason or warning for these airbags to deploy!.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph he lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to crash into trees. The front driver and passenger side air bags deployed, rupturing with metal fragments striking the contact¿s left hand and shattering the bones in the pinky finger which required medical attention. A police report was filed. The dealer was made aware of the failure. The contact received a notification for NHTSA campaign number 14v351000 (air bags). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 38,000.
I was driving doing about 35 mph and out of no where I hear this big pop! the side airbags on the driver side and in the back had deployed. No one hit me nor did I run over anything in the street. There was no type of impact. The airbag deployed for no reason. I reported it to Honda dealership as soon as I got home. They ask me to bring the vehicle in the next day. The dealer ship and Honda America inspected the vehicle their detemination was that there was underbody damage. I couldn't believe what they showed me. It was a scratch, like someone took a screwdriver or something and scratched the vehicle. This was there reason for deployment. Long story short they would not fix the vehicle because they felt it wasn't their fault. I am very disappointed with Honda and how this was handled. Honda states they are so big on saftey for their customers but yet they will not fix vehicles that have defective parts that should be on a recall list, and now I have a vehicle with no side airbags and no seat belt. Where is the saftey concern?? what if this would have cause and accident where some one was injury, my youngest daughter was in the car with me when this airbag deployed for no reason. Thank god it didn't cause me to hit another vehicle. I have done my own research and found out that this same incident has happened to several other customers. Clearly there is a malfunction in this part/sensor. When is Honda going to take some responsiblity and keep their customers safe and do the right thing!!! I will continue to pursue this because I know exactly what happen and it was not cause by something hitting underneath my vehicle.
Airbag indicator light on 2005 Honda Accord came on for no reason. Honda charged me $110 to diagnose the problem and said the driver side curtain airbag was malfunctioning. They said it was $985 to replace and that airbags were not covered under the lifetime warranty like seatbelts were. Dealership suggested I speak with Honda customer service because they too were surprised it wasn't covered. Honda customer service said there was no way they would pay for it. I was also told that because the indicator light remains on, that my car would probably not pass state inspection. Now I am out the $110 I paid to first get this information, and have a car that may not pass state inspection due to a malfunctioning airbag that Honda does not have an explanation for.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord coupe. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 mph, the horn was depressed and failed. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the horn and driver's side air bag needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the contact was concerned about the method used to replace the air bag. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000. Pp.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. While driving 45 mph, the contact heard an explosion and noticed that the passenger side air bag deployed inadvertently. The dealer and manufacturer were notified and advised him to call his insurance company. The vehicle was driven to the dealer and they suggested that something could have struck the frame rail and caused the air bag to deploy. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current mileage was 32,407 and failure mileage was 32,395. Updated 12/11/08 updated 12/11/08.
On Monday 06/05/06 at around 8:45 pm. As I was driving home on the freeway. I started smelling something like gun powder when a few seconds later all of the sudden the driver side air bags deployed with no reason what so ever, the seat belt pulled me back against the seat really hard. I didn't crash, I did not come in contact with anything that could have caused this. Thank god I did not have any injuries other than a pain on my left arm due to the deployment of the air bag located on the left side of the driver seat and a slight pain on my lower back I think due to the seat belt pulling me back so hard as the air bags were being eployed.
The contact stated while driving the passenger curtain and seat air bag deployed. The housing for the air bag on the door was damaged. The contact did not run over anything recently. She backed into a curb days ago, but the street she was driving on yesterday has no curbs. The insurance company inspected the vehicle and stated that hitting the curb days ago could not have caused it, but According to the dealership , it did. The manufacturer was relying solely on the dealer's evaluation. The vehicle is still at the dealership and has not been repaired.
While driving home on interstate 285 in traffic I heard a loud pop in my left ear and my seat belt tightened to an unbearable tightness. My car filled with a powdery like substance and that's when I realized that my side curtain and seat airbags had deployed. There was nothing in the highway that I could have hit. My car was drivable and I pulled over to see if there was any damage. There was no damage so I called the dealership and took it in. They did a visual inspection and could find no reason why the air bags should have deployed. They said they would have to keep the car over night so that they could look at it more closely. The next day I called to check the status of my car and at that time I was informed that they could not find any damage to my car but they needed to continue looking. 15 minutes later I received a phone call stating that they had found a small scratch on the bottom of my car and that was the cause of my airbags deploying. I am insisting that I did not hit anything because the highway was clear at the time. Am I getting the run around from Honda? is this normal?.
While driving home on interstate 93 in heavy traffic I noticed a small object in the road that I had thought I avoided, but in a instant the passenger side and seat air bag deployed. The car filled with a smoky substance, causing visibility to be limited, my wife and I were startled but ok, we first thought we had been in an accident. We pulled over and checked the car and found no damage. The car is 2005 new Honda Accord hybrid brand new with only 500 miles on it. After we composed ourselves we called the dealer and they indicated to park the car and do not drive it so we had it towed. The dealer put the car on a lift and called us to say they could see a scratch under the car where something must have hit a sensor and then triggered the air bags. If this had been on the drivers side I can assure your the results could have been much worst. I cannot believe that such a small object would trigger this to go off, rather than a safety item these are a hazard. I will fear seeing an object on the highway in the future and always wonder if the air bags will deploy. Does this sound normal or was the dealer telling me the truth? I had to file an insurance claim because the dealer stated it was my fault. The car is now sitting waiting for the insurance adjuster to look at it.
