Failure Date: 12/20/2023

Dear NHTSA, I am writing to urgently bring to your attention a pervasive issue with the starter in Honda Accord 2013 models equipped with a push-start system. The problem began in January 2023, leading to the replacement of the car battery, brakes, and tire sensors. Despite these efforts, the issue persisted, prompting the replacement of the starter in December 2023. However, within two weeks, the newly replaced starter failed again. The problem recurred on January 09, 2024, despite cumulative repairs exceeding $3000. I have found numerous online complaints from other Honda Accord 2013 owners, indicating a widespread problem that requires immediate investigation to ensure the safety of vehicle owners. If additional information or clarification is required, please do not hesitate to contact me at 831-747-4444 sincerely, charbel samaha.

39 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/26/2023

Info entertainment system. It was going on and off I took it to Honda and the price was well over $1,200. I have taken my car for maintenance only to Honda and think that at 120,000 miles after I replaced the starter a month before that this car should be working in full condition. I am a senior and now the radio bluetooth cameras are no longer available. Called Honda customer service to ask for help I know 2013 was the first year they used this system because I have and xl Accord. When I called the rep she said Honda had a goodwill program and sure they could help me ,then the second girl called and customer service and said please send me your car dealers mechanic price and diagnostics. I scan them in and sent it to her next day the third person in customer service called and said OH I'm sorry you are over the 90,000 warranty. But I told her customer service lady number one never said anything about the goodwill program being s 90,000 mile warrenty. A bulony story. No help either from the email I sent to a mr corbin vp vomplaunts. Now I have to drive around and as a senior I would like to have my cameras working anda radio. Bluetooth . I have no working camera and all the maintenance I have done on the car I am really upset I do not have any of it and I cannot go very far for example when a family member got very sick I could not travel in dark to that area because the car is not helpful without that connection. . Yes I can use the gps on my phone but it is ridiculous that now that I have paid this car off that at 120,000 miles I'm going to have to get rid of it and I just can't afford a new one. They should fix it for less than $1,300. As a senior I really need the cameras working and I've never heard of any car without a radio. I know now that the younger cars also have the info system problem on recall. Mine should also be on that recall list. Can you help? I feel they left me rude, without even a sorry or suggestion.

Unfortunately, the vsa modulator unit is “nationally” out of stock & unable to find the vsa modulator unit.

47 Electrical System problem

My dashboard is lit up like a christmas tree. Went to dealer who found the abs control module went out. The nation is out of this part as it is a common problem. There are several articles on the web that discuss how these have gone out and there is no where to buy the part and is not recalled yet. Abs system will not engage without this which is extremely unsafe. Apparently this is effecting 2013-2107 Accords.

48 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/25/2023

My 2013 Honda Accord touring with 110,000 miles all of a sudden all the lights on the dash came on. I took it to the dealer. The dealer told me that the electronic control module or the vehicle stability control module was bad. At that time, the dealer could not get the part and at that time, the part was $1400so a year later. When I had the money I went to get the car fixed at that point the part was $2600. It cost me $3500 to get the vehicle repaired. It was not under warranty. There was no recall and I was left holding the bag I have found there are many cases of the same part going bad and Honda refuses to accept responsibility, leaving us owners out in the cold.

49 Electrical System problem

51 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2023

All dash lights come on. Fcw system failure. Abs/vsa module failed is what me and a lot of other people with the same car, have the same issues. Abs brake module to replace is $1100 and on backorder and alot of people can't drive there cars, some have had issues that almost caused accidents, mine seems to run fine for now, just started happening. Honda needs to do something about this, way to many people have this problem and Honda should be way more reliable and helpful for this common failure.

54 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/06/2023

Several dashboard lights came on. Electric steering ,tire pressure sensor, traction control, abs, brake lights. Paid 300 dollar diagnostic fee for Honda dealer to tell me this is a known issue on Hondas and would cost 3,000 dollars to repair. Final verdict, abs module needs replacement. Also seems to be causing issues with the transmission shift points due to the vehicle speed sensor having an error with code p-0717 input shaft speed error. Upon doing research, the mother board connections from connector to the motherboard are very thin and lose connection over time causing safety issues since it's unknown if the abs is working correctly with the fault lights on, also the tire pressure is not currently monitored correctly due to the light is always on among other monitored systems that have lights illuminated on the dashboard.

55 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2023

The abs module seems to fail on all 2013 Honda Accords and many other year models as well. This causes the antilock break system to not work properly, potentially causing a very serious accident. The quoted replacement from a Honda dealer is over $2k which is very cost prohibitive for many people. I'm sure you have received many complaints on this and if you don't believe the severity of this please look on any online car repair forum and you can see the countless drivers with this issue. Honda needs to pay for this not stick unsuspecting customers with a very expensive repair.

56 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/24/2023

Failure to start problems began about 3 years ago. Initially we had to push the start button several times to get the car started. It got progressively worse. We paid $810. To replace the starter with a remanufactured starter part. The dealership said they used the remanufactured part because it had a 3 year warranty while a new starter would have only a 1 year warranty. It worked for 3 or 4 months and then started to act up again. The dealership replaced the starter again with another remanufactured starter part in November of "24. Now it is March of "25 and my wife is marking the calendar again on the days the starter malfunctions which has been several days in the past month. We have been left stranded and I fear this could result in a serious safety problem if it happended in heavy traffic or some other vulnerable situation. There are many Honda starter complaints on the internet! why hasn't there been a recall?.

57 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2023

I get a light that comes on my dash board that says “failed fcw system”. . Most of the time it is on. Rarely it will go off the screen. Sometimes my car will randomly beep to signal that something is infront of me when there is nothing infront of me, which is what I believe to be an issue with the fcw system. This is startling and distracting to me while driving, as it is supposed to signal and keep me safe from potentially hitting objects infront of me, but it has proven itself unreliable for what its purpose is. Also with the “failed fcw system” message on the dash, it has my other lights signaled such as the air pressure light for my tires as well as the oil light so I never know when my tires actually need air, etc….

58 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/28/2023

The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that there was a vibrating rumbling sound while starting the vehicle. The abs warning light was illuminated. 59 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 02/24/2023

The abs module has failed on my 2013 Honda Accord lx. The abs system may not function properly in reducing braking distances and could cause the car to slide in wet or slippery conditions increasing the chances of a collision or loss of vehicular control while driving. The car was taken to a Honda specialist and upon inspection, the vehicle was diagnosed to have a faulty abs module. The quoted repair was in excess of $2000 usd. The abs, power steering, tpms check tire, traction control warning lights are all on indicating an issue with aforementioned faulty abs module. The warning lights all appeared simultaneously in February, 2023. Diagnostics were run and all error codes indicated a faulty abs (vcs) module.

60 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2023

The abs system went out. All the lights in the dashboard is on. The module was on back order for months and it’s cost $2500. Why should I have to pay for a faulty electrical system that my actions had no bearing on?.

61 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/20/2022

Started noticing problem with steering a few weeks ago. Trying to turn left is very loose and oversteers so much that it almost takes me to a u-turn. Even driving straight, I often notice the car being pulled to the left like it's trying to make a turn on its own. Turning right seems more "normal" but also more difficult that I have to use more force to complete the turn. When I took my car in for state-mandated annual inspection, the inspector immediately notified me something is wrong with the steering rack and wouldn't pass inspection, and I should take the car to a mechanic. Manual examination of the car revealed no issues with physical parts, and alignment check also had no issues. So I had another appointment for the electrical system, which diagnosed that the eps (electrical power steering) sensor is failing, giving inaccurate readings, pulling too much to left and "skipping" on right. They informed me this was a known issue with all 2013/2014 Honda Accords, and I have to spend $3000+ to replace the entire steering rack. Upon further research, I became aware that there have been thousands of complaints filed with NHTSA regarding the same issue, and there is a service bulletin 15-056 extending the eps sensor warranty to 13 years. So I took my car to a Honda dealer. The technician and the service advisor both recognized the exact same symptoms as described by bulletin 15-056 and recommended the same $3000+ repair to replace the steering rack. However, they said this will not be covered by the extended warranty due to lack of dtc codes. She suggested maybe driving around more until I get a code, which According to the technician, only happens upon a catastrophic failure of the torque sensor. I contacted american Honda, and my request for coverage was out-right rejected. Only 41k miles on the car and had been so scared driving since issue started. Outrageous to me they want me to drive dangerously until sensor completely fails when it's a known issue for years.

62 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/15/2022

About six months ago the starter began to malfunction. It has malfunctioned intermittently ever since. A week ago my wife who drives this car told me the car fails to start more often as she goes to pick up our grandchildren and she is afraid it will simply quit working at all. I am fearing the same thing. She says it makes a clicking or grinding noise and the the dash board lights all come on. After several tries it has started, but I am afraid it will leave them stranded in an unsafe situation. These problems with the 2013-2017 Honda Accords are well know and documented. These cars should be recalled to address this issue. It's a crime that they haven't been. In many cases persons have spent a great deal of money without a solution. O'daniel Honda in omaha gave me a price of $818. To replace the starter motor. Yet for some people the problem is ongoing even after replacing the starter motor! why hasn't a recall been issued?.

63 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/20/2022

No warning lights displayed on dashboard. Steering wheel began turning right by itself sitting in the driveway in park . I turned it back to the straight position only to have it turn again one half or more rotation. Took it to a parking lot ( flat area) it went in a circle by itself. I could stop it with some effort. While driving straight it kept pulling me right hard, not like a crowned road would do! the vehicle was bought new and only has 76,000 miles.

65 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/21/2022

Abs module is a common issue on these vehicles I think it’s ridiculous that owners have to come out of pocket 2600$ for a part that should be recalled ! the part is on back order and has been for almost a year now and it’s impossible to get it anywhere else . Please do something about this as I love Honda but have never delt with something like this before . I would hate to have to switch to a different car at another company !.

66 Electrical System problem

The electric power steering rack is binding up and making the car veer towards the right. It is not an alignment issue was check by Honda dealership. It’s a eps , need replacement to correct.
