1 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 03/22/2018

My daughter and I purchased a 2013 Honda Accord at tameron Honda, daphne, al on February 16, 2018. We drove it for about two weeks and then the power steering started getting hard to steer. So we followed the owners manual by letting the car's eps to cool down. We then were able to drive it for awhile, then on March 22, 2018 my daughter was driving and the power steering eps warning light came on and the steering was very hard making it almost impossible to drive safely. I call the tamron service department and was told the would fix it but I would have to pay for it.

2 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2017

We purchased the Honda Accord 2013 v6 10/22/2017. Steering wheel was tight we noticed ,that night of the 23rd, 2nd time driving it my son turned the corner and the steering wheel locked and he ran into the cement pole and totaled his car. We didn't even have it one full day. We later looked up on the internet that Honda was under investigation for power steering locking up or electrical and saw people totaled there cars or had the same issues 464k cases. My son was hurt but could have been worse. Honda needs to be sued for this and I want in on it. The car was in my name I bought for my 21 yr old son after his car flooded in harvey. Something needs to be done immediately.

3 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2017

When reversing from a parking space and while turning the steering wheel to the left, the eps light indicator came on and my steering wheel was very hard to turn/would not turn at all. I shut off the car 3 times after waiting a minute each time. The light still came one and the wheel was still stuck. After waiting about 5 minutes and restarting, it went away. Took my car to the dealership today and it is there now. They are stating I may need to use my extended warranty for coverage but after researching, seems to be a glitch in the torque censor. Hoping they will do the software update without needing to use my warranty.

4 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

Tl- the contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the steering wheel was extremely tight and hard to turn left and right as the failure progressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the steering gear box needed to be replaced. In addition, the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was included in a service campaign to update the eps software and address the eps torque sensor but the contact was uncertain if the manufacturer solution would provide a remedy to prevent the failure which was unreasonable for the contact. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000. Dyd.

5 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 06/22/2015

I was driving s on I-55 a few miles n of west memphis. As I attempted to change lanes my steering wheel was very hard to turn. I looked all over the dash & found a small light shaped like a steering wheel on the far left of the dash. Fortunately I was near an exit and was able to get to a station. Turning in & parking was almost impossible. The owners manual said to turn car off and on. This corrected the problem and I drove the approximate 200 miles to my home. I planned to get it checked out at Honda. Two days later the keyless ignition failed about ten times before finally starting. The dome lights had come on but no dash lights came on & it just beeped at me. Previously I had a low battery (listened to music too long) which failed to start but even then the dash lights lit up & flashed. It seemed like both incidents indicated an electrical or ecu problem. I drove to the dealership and reported the problem. I was told they would have to recreate the incidents. They have had my car 3 1/2 days with no word. I finally called today. Was told they couldn't recreate it so couldn't do anything! I told them I didn't feel safe driving the car. I pointed out the number of complaints listed on the arfc. Com site. The service manager talked to Honda engineers who continued to contend it had to be duplicated in the computer to solve it. I stressed the safety issue and that I would not feel safe driving the car again without solving this. They are going to do more testing. An hour earlier in my trip I was on a very curvy hilly 2 lane road. I feel if this had occurred there I could easily have had a terrible accident - while I had 2 grandchildren in the back seat! there are a number of incidents like this reported. Why has something not been done?! my car has 36,500 miles and fortunately I purchased an extended warranty! I just hope we can agree on a solution.

6 Steering Is Tight problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2013

About 2 weeks ago when I was turning right I noticed some difficulty in steering (the steering was difficult and tight) so I took the car in for service. The incident could not be reproduced but noted by the dealer. On the 6th I was driving home and turning right onto my street and the steering went completely out. I was afraid I was about to end up in my neighbors yard and into my neighbor! it took very great effort to steer the car and steering warning light came on. Wtih much difficulty I drove the car slowly to the dealer and they witnessed the problem. I recently heard from the service dept and they told me a "code" appeared on this and they were checking the "rack" - there was no issue with steering with the car moving straight forward. I will be working with the dealership for a replacement vehicle as I don't trust this particular vehicle. Also, the dealer is very helpful and trying to do the right thing and I beleive has my best interests at heart (they are very reputable). I have filed a complaint with your agency and have an odi number.
