I am writing to you in regards to a safety concern with my 2001 Honda Accord. The engine subframe of my 2001 Honda Accord lx has 1/4 engine connections rotted through. This is located on the front passenger side near the strut assembly, beneath the air conditioner drain, as noted by others on posting on the internet. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle is in excellent condition otherwise, especially with very low miles (156,000) there is very little rust on the vehicle considering it's age. My mechanic says it is unsafe to drive. He writes: 'during degreasing (and repair of radiator) found engine sub-frame rusting out and coming apart. Advised client the vehicle is a safety risk to drive in this condition'. It appears to be the result of a design flaw relating to the location of the air conditioner drain. Honda should be held responsible for this design flaw and Honda should be held accountable to repair this unsafe situation. I am shocked this catastrophic safety condition was allowed to continue without warning by Honda and/or the NHTSA!!.

Loud humming/whining noise occurs while driving at speeds between 35-50 mph. The only way to stop this ear splitting noise is to crack a window. According to the dealer, it is a known-issue with the automatic noise cancelling system in 2018 Honda Accords and later. Honda hasn't been able to fix this issue in over 3 years. It is extremely distracting to the driver, not to mention unsafe to have to drive with the window open in freezing temperature and rain. It happens to me almost every time I drive, especially in temperatures below 50 degrees.

Driving southbound on 101 south on sunny clear day 65 degrees with almost full fuel tank and 2 battery bars (almost empty) and climbing up incline on 7 degree grade and check engine light went on and lost all power and car completely slowed down to a stop (luckily was able to pull over with no problem).
I was about to park my 2015 Honda Accord lx in a parking spot in parking lot in front of a shopping centre. The car was cruising at 2-3 miles per hour at this time. There was a sudden and rapid acceleration which was highly disproportionate to the slow speed while I was entering the parking spot. I applied the brakes but it didn't help stop or slow down the vehicle. The car moved forward with the same rapid acceleration in the empty parking spot in front and started moving towards the next parking row in front. I swung the car to the right on to the road between the two parking rows in order to avoid collision with the cars in the next row. The car was still moving with rapid acceleration. I tried applying brakes hard but the car wouldn't slow down or stop. I brushed the bumper of another car in the process. I finally hit another car parked near a curb at the end of the parking lot. The impact was so high that the other car swung 90 degrees. My car stopped after getting stuck on the curb and wedged against the other car. The airbags exploded due to the huge impact. I survived the accident with bruises and bumps on my hands, knees, and feet. Fortunately, no other person in the parking lot was injured in the accident. Accident date and time: June 25, 2020 5:15 pm eastern. Location: parking lot of north town plaza, 2856 dekalb pike, norristown, PA police report # east norriton, PA township, report number # 2020-0638219401 the car has been towed to the following location by police with my consent: centersquaremotors 911 dekalb pike blue bell, PA 19422 (610) 277 2929 insurer: state farm.

The car intermittently will not start. All electrical components work, ac works, windows, except the engine doesn't turn over. The engine does not start. Sometimes it starts the first time, other times you are sitting there trying to start for 15, 20 min. The frequency of non- start increases as time goes on. Temperature and time driven do not matter. It's happened in 70 degree weather and in 15 degree weather. It's happened after I've driven for 5 min or 50 min.

A design defect that enables oil to enter into engine'x combustion chamber. This leads to premature spark plug degradation and engine malfunction. Essentially, the engine is working much harder than it has to in normal driving conditions. Unfortunately, my daily commute does not consist of climbing through the beautiful rockie mountains, but fighting traffic on i94. Thus the oil consumption should be normal, and yet it's not!!.

Loud cranking noise when cold starting the car regardless of date of last oil change. Honda informed me it was the vtc actuator, which is a known problem based on online complains, but still no recall. Many people have this same complaint at varying degrees of mileage.

I was driving on a high way and all of the sudden a light came on that said "power system fail" and I lost the ability to use the accelerator. I stayed calm because there were cars all around me and I began to coast and use momentum to drift to the shoulder of the highway. Then a second light came on and said 'brake system power fail". I tapped the break and it seemed to work but I continued to coast down the shoulder of the highway until I ran out of momentum. I then turned my brand new Honda Accord exl hybrid off and restarted the car. The lights remained on but the accelorator was working so I drove the car to the closest service area on the highway. I then called Honda roadside who told me to turn the vehicle off and wait for a tow truck. He said that I must have broken a belt. Why he said or thought that he could diagnose the problem from a call center I'm not sure. It was over 100 degrees so I did not listen to the man from Honda because it was too hot and not safe for me to sit in the vehicle without air. I waited for a tow truck which cost me $250 even though its a brand new car and I have Honda roadside assistance. My husband came and met me where the tow left me. He drove the vehicle to our dealership. The dealership told us that they have no record of this ever happening and the computer does not show that anything happened. It was so scary and dangerous and I could have been killed. They say that they can't diagnose the problem because it seems like nothing is wrong. They even asked me if I accidentally turned the car off while driving?!?!?! that isn't possible!!!! I just found the exact same complaint from another Honda driver on here which also shows that this has happened before and something is wrong. As a woman who chose this car because it is supposed to be so reliable and safe I am so upset. I do not believe that my vehicle is safe.
I backup up in a parking lot and when I took my foot off of the brake the car went full throttle in reverse and hit a cement structure behind me and kept hitting it. My brakes did nothing to stop the repeated collisions so I put the car into drive and it went full throttle across the parking lot and was going to go off a cliff and yet I had no brakes. The only control I had was steering. I was going with a full throttle and managed to steer away from the cliff and a building and headed towards a chain link fence to try to stop my travel. It did not stop me because the car was going so fast. It went through the fence and the yard and then through the next fence and was then airborne between the trees till I hit the ground at a 45 degree angle which was about 15 feet lower. Then continued to speed across a field till it got caught in a ditch. I had no brakes during the entire incident.

Two weeks ago, I was driving at approximately 55 mph, the car felt as if it were switching gears sluggishly. Then I noticed the engine light had come on. I took the vehicle to o'reilly's to investigate the engine light which was caused by a p3400 code/bank 1. I researched the code and purchased 2 quarts of the 0w20 synthetic oil. The light went out after driving approximately 10 miles. I then made an appointment for an oil change, however the dealership was closed for the memorial day holiday and rescheduled for tomorrow (3 days later). The light has since come back on; I again checked the oil and had to add 2 quarts of 0w20 synthetic oil. Once again, the car is sluggish and has a new symptom of knocking when accelerating. I will have it towed in the morning for the scheduled oil change to ensure nothing is damaged. I have done additional research and found that I had received notification from Honda last year in reference to a class action settlement for service bulletin (#11-033) that addressed excessive oil consumption from a "systematic design defect that enables oil to enter into the engine's combustion chamber. This leads to premature spark plug degradation and engine malfunction. " hopefully, the dealership will repair the defect once and for all.

Dear sir or madam: I took my 2001 Honda Accord v6 to Honda dealer (david mcdavid of frisco, TX) for airbag recall on oct 27, 2014. I was also getting engine warning sign on my dash board. After airbag repair I returned home and found following comment on my invoice : "redesigned airbag inflators are not available for installation at this time. " next day I called the dealer and american Honda. Dealer has not responded to my voicemail and american Honda customer service said they will respond within 24-48 hours. So far no one has reached out to me. My question to them was if you did not have the redesigned airbag inflators then how have you fixed the airbag recall issue. Regarding dashboard engine warning sign dealer said I need to install ega pipe kit to avoid clogging of ega port. Honda is aware of this issue as per their service bulletin 99-085 and were supposed to install the ega pipe kit free of cost. Honda never sent me any communication nor any of past Honda dealers informed me about this problem. The dealer asked me $650 to fix the problem and even charged me $107 for diagnosis of this problem which was diagnosed earlier by autozone technician in just 1 minute for free. Honda dealer even refused to do state inspection saying my car will fail the inspection if this kit is not installed. I asked both american Honda and dealer to install egr kit for free since it's a design issue with their engine but so far both of them have refused to install it for free. I would request you to take these issues with Honda especially the airbag, egr port issue and lack of communication regarding problems in their cars. No wonder Honda comes at top in quality surveys since they are not transparent enough to communicate problems with NHTSA or customers. I am worried about me and my family's safety while driving this car. Thanks.
Upon inspection, the right rear portion of the front sub frame is rusted and disintegrated to a point where the car is not considered safe to operate. The frame section has lost so much material that it flexes when downward pressure is applied to the hub assembly. The left side of the front frame is intact and fully functional showing no similar signs of rust.

I noticed transmission fluid leaking from my vehicle. Took my car to a trusted independent mechanic, who determined and documented the fluid leak is coming from a "split-case gasket", where both case halves bolt together. His opinion was that a transmission fluid leak is highly unusual on a low mileage Honda and that he suspected a defective gasket that was improperly sealed, prior to leaving the factory. Made an appointment with the service department of leith Honda in raleigh,n. C. , where the vehicle was originally purchased, on August 29th, 2013. The torque converter seal was found to be "leaking" and it would cost$ 1993. 00 to repair, which the dealer would not assume. This is historically been a long standing problem with Honda vehicles, which eventually causes transmission slippage, extensive transmission damage, loss of power, causing the vehicle to suddenly stop. This potentially can lead to severe injuries and death . I consider this problem a critical safety issue, well known to the manufacturer and dealers. I am appalled and outraged by Honda's lack of integrity and apparent disregard fo public safety. . I am sure it is related to their "bottom line" I respectfully am requesting your agency to investigate my complaint and to review other owners complaints and horrendous experiences, on line. Please force them to acknowledge these defects and make them accountable to prevent future injuries and deaths, that likely will occur to unsuspecting Honda owners.
2007 Honda Accord ex v6 coupe. First failure incident came at around 88,000 miles on the car. Check engine light came on and said it was due to an oxygen sensor bank 2 sensor 1. Replaced the oxygen sensor and the code disappeared. At about 96,000 miles the same error code came on. Did some research and found that this was common amongst this model Accord and engine v6. After about 5,000 miles of driving on this code with a new oxygen sensor, the cel(check engine light) flashed. I was driving on the highway in about 70 degree weather and traveling at 65 mph. After pulling over to check the car, the spark plug and coil pack had blown completely out of cylinder number 5. . (another common issue for 2007 Honda Accord v6). Have not taken it to the dealer for repair costs, but the entire engine will now have to be replaced. There needs to be a recall out for this as it will not cause me to replace the entire engine. I will be calling Honda as well to see what they will be doing about this problem.

When I start my car in the morning and put the transmission into reverse, I have to depress the gas pedal quite far for the car to start moving. I am on a flat surface in my garage when I do this. The rpms go high and I am barely moving. When I place the car in drive, everything seems fine and the rest of the day there are no problems. The weather is not cold or hot when this happens. Around 70 degrees in an insulated garage.

A federal class action lawsuit claims that 2008-2010 Honda Accords have “a systematic design defect that enables oil to enter into the engine’s combustion chamber. ” the defect causes excessive oil consumption, premature spark plug degradation and engine malfunction. In my 2009 Honda Accord, this has caused cylinder misfires on the following three dates, including spark plug failure, multiple spark plug replacements and engine trouble: - June 21, 2012 - April 18, 2013 - September 17, 2013 Honda has settled this lawsuit but details are still unavailable. . I have had my 1997 Honda Accord lx 4cyl for about 4 years. I have searched this problem just about everywhere, and while I've seen the problem reported in hundreds of Honda owners, I have yet to see a solid solution. Problem: car shutting off while driving, strong fuel/gas smell when this happens, dash lights shutting off and going black, door locks jumping up and down
my car is shutting off while driving - whether I'm on a residential street, or going 75 mph on the highway. I have been blessed not to be hit by another car when this happens. It sometimes starts right back up, but after a few times, it takes about 20 minutes to be able to start. The engine will stir around, but it won't fire up and actually start. Twenty minutes later or so, it starts. . And then we may make it to our destination without stalling again. Oh, and I can't forget the strong scent of fuel in the air when this happens. It started as a sporadic thing that happened whenever I drove long distance (an hour or more) or whenever I was at 1/4 of a tank. More recently, I can hardly drive at all. I tried to leave today, and I didn't make it down the street without the car shutting off twice. The car is not overheating, there's plenty of gas in the tank. . . Yet when I drive, the dash lights go out, the rpm jumps all over the place and finally to 0. The car works fine when the engine is cold (first thing in the morning), but as soon as the engine warms to a normal level, this happens. I've been stranded on the highway more times then I care to admit. . . By myself, with my children, in 101 degree heat. . Etc. What we've done (unsuccessfully):
* I already called the dealership, they ran my VIN and said that the recalls have all been taken care of and replaced on my car prior to me purchasing the vehicle. * replaced spark plugs and wires
* major tune-up
* replaced relay switch
* replaced fuel filter.

I have a 2008 Honda Accord ex-l I picked up new in the fall of 2007. To date I have just over 30,000 miles. Today, (4/12/10) I took my car to my local Honda dealership for an oil change. I was told that my rear brakes were at 5% and repair cost would be $330. 00!!! I mentioned I paid an additional $2,200. 00 for an "extended warranty "on top of the $28,000. 00 sticker price back in 2007. Today I asked the Honda advisor what does my $2,200. 00 "extended warranty" cover? he said nothing mechanical. By this point I did not want to argue, but rather I paid the $38. 13 for my oil change and left. Also with my previous oil change maybe 3 months ago with about 29,000 miles I was also told my rear brakes were somewhere around 15% and I think the Honda dealership quoted me around $300. 00. I am definitely a named party in the gibbs lawsuit as of 12/17/09. I have not paid to fix my rear brakes yet. Other problems I am having is my navigation freezes up, I have this rattling sound in my front drivers door, my front passenger door sounds like it is not closed all the way because I hear road noise, and twice now my wipers have continued to stay on even though I turned them off or the wipers will be "delayed" even though the wipers are off, my glove box is misaligned on the right hand side and at times when I am pulling into the garage with my foot off of the gas pedal, the car will accelerate forward a little. I am finished with this car!!!! my 2008 Accord is my 3rd Accord and by far the most obnoxious lemon I have ever owned. My 1986 and 2000 Accords were more "Honda" than my 2008 Accord. I am thoroughly disgusted with Honda's caring integrity.
The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle suddenly shut off while she was driving at approximately 15 mph and occurred several other times. The lights flashed on the instrument panel before the failure. The contact was able to restart the vehicle after more than one attempt and continued to drive. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealership where the contact was informed that the egr valve needed to be replaced. The failure mileage was approximately 208,000. The current mileage was approximately 213,000.

The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. While pulling into the driveway and before the contact could turn off the vehicle, it shut itself off. Later, while attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle shut off completely. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the service dealer and they stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he received a recall notice in 2002 for the electrical ignition switch, which could degrade and cause the vehicle to hesitate and/or crash without warning. The manufacturer stated that because the recall repairs were performed once, they would not take responsibility for the repairs a second time. The VIN and NHTSA campaign id number were unknown. The failure and current mileages were less than 109,000.
The contact owns a 1998 Honda Accord ex. There was a safety recall on the egr valve. The Honda dealer stated that because the vehicle exceeded 85,000 miles and was over 8 years old it was no longer eligible for safety recall repairs. The gas mileage on the vehicle was poor, and fumes entered the vehicle, the engine light constantly illuminated, and the vehicle underwent three or four diagnostic tests. The tests verified the failure to be the egr valve. The current and failure mileage were 120,000. Ak.
Driving a 2000 Honda Accord (4 cylinder) at approximately 25 miles per hour. Making a right hand turn. Total loss of power to automobile. Complete engine shutdown. Engine restart after second attempt but complete failure again. Check engine light and all dash instrumentation illuminated prior to second engine failure. Car towed to Honda dealership. Owner informed that egr valve failed. Owner informed that it was impossible for the egr to fail while car was in motion. That simply is not true as this failure indeed happened to this vehicle while in motion. Total repair cost not provided at this time. No prior indication of egr problems prior to this incident.
Defective egr valve on my 1999 Honda Accord. The car was brand new when I purchased it and it only has 96k miles. I am the only owner. It burns oil and no one can determine why. I just replaced 2 valves due to the oil and now my egr valve is needing to be replaced. After reviewing the complaints, there are numerous complaints on the egr valve for a 1999 Honda Accord. It should be recalled based on the number of complaints I have seen.
It was first thing in the morning , had driven it late the previous evening. The engine light went on , the car bucked when I tried to accelerate . I drove to the dealership. Asked me if I "topped off" at the gas station. I did in fact top off the last fill up. I was told that could make the engine light go on. Now I have a rent a car. They need to order a new part. V tec. I have always topped off at the gas station. I should have been told or warned not to do that with the new Honda's if in fact that is the reason for this.
At 84,366 miles my car's check engine light came on. Took Accord to mechanic and was told the egr valve error code appeared. The mechanic said to take to Honda due to recall for this part. Picked car up from mechanic and car also had srs light on. Researched online since I already have recall for dash light. Found many other Honda owners with same srs light. Found out my air bags will not function if sensor illuminated. Also, called Honda and they said I was beyond the mileage (80k) for the extended warranty on the defective egr valve replacement. Asked what Honda was doing about the front airbags and was told no decision has been made. I have also discovered my car has the extended warranty for defective/faulty transmission. So when I'm driving down the highway my tranmsmission may give out at high rate of speed and if collsion occurs, my air bags will not deploy. My seat weld joint broke at 54k too! I used a 99 Toyota 4runner as replacement vehicle and discovered the seatbelt warning light came on when my 40lb. Dog sat in passenger front seat. My Accord never has detected my dog in the front seat ever! this car is riddled with safety defects and poor manufacturing. Honda should be held responsible for protecting the owners from injury including monetary repairs/ replacement costs for all of these safety defects and engine defects.
The engine light went on, the code said bad egr valve, so it was cleaned out, when that didn't work, the egr valve was replaced and 8 months later the engine light came on again saying that the egr valve is malfunctioning again.
I wanted to complain because this is the 2nd time within 5 years that I'm having to have my egr port cleaned again which is costly. Also I the same thing with the ignition switch wires, which were recalled and replaced 5 years later also trying to spark a fire. I am still the original owner of my Honda and having the same problem once again about my egr after I paid lots of $$$$$$$$$$. I think somebody need to investigate if the parts only last for 5 years at a time.
Vehicle is experiencing a problem with the egr valve which is clogged. The check engine light continues to keep flashing off/on since last summer. Dealer informed the owner that the egr valve needed to be changed. However, the vehicle was out of warranty. This problem has not been recalled, however, a product update has been imposed. This is directed to those vehicle which came with an 80,000 miles and 8 year warranty. This vehicle is less than 6 years old, but has 95,000 miles.
After driving the vehicle for a while, the vehicle has a problem with restarting. Vehicle would hesitate for a while and you need to apply the accelerator pedal to the floor before starting. Vehicle has been to two separate dealers. The first dealer replaced the erg valve. And the problem recurred and the second dealer replaced the fuel pressure regulator kit and the problem still recurring. . Check engine light continues to appear on dashboard. Intermittent stalling. Dealer removed and replaced egr valve/removed intake manifold and cleaned ports.
Various problems with 2000 Honda Accord. The alternator failed, the egr valve failed, the srs light illuminated, the driver's seat back panel had fallen due to s defective plastic anchor pin, the a/c stopped working, and the front passenger door seal at the bottom was falling off.
Transmission slippage. Dealer replaced under warranty with remanufactured transmission.
