Car was idling at a stop light when suddenly the engine almost stopped running. Seemed like it had only 1 or 2 cylinders working. Was able to get to a parking lot, turn off engine, wouldn't restart. Towed in to shop and found gasoline filling 3 cylinders (6 cyl. Engine). Broke a connecting rod, replaced engine.

Sirs: we have had two problems with our 2000 Accord ex from time of purchase that our dealer, crown Honda, has been unable to resolve. The first problem is the car has a stutter within the first mile driven when started. The second is a problem with the supplemental restraint system.
While driving the car (approx. 50 mph) the balancer shaft oil seal backed out. The engine oil was pumped out. The warning lights came on and my wife pulled the car off the road. But it was too late the engine seized. Honda was willing to replace the seal but said they would not repair the engine. Honda knows that this seal is a problem and has sent a service bulletin out telling people so. (we did not receive a notice from Honda on this) instead of recalling the faulty part Honda has figured out that they can put the responsibility for their design mistakes on their customers by simply sending out a service bulletin. If you don't get a letter from Honda --OH well. Honda should replace the seals in all of the affected cars and Honda should be required to repair/replace any engines destroyed by the faulty seal.
Driving down street and oil light came on. . Proceeded to store and put oil in car, drove approximately 10 miles and oil light came on again. Then I determined that all the oil had drained out. Oil is pouring out of my car faster than I can put it in. Searching on the internet I've found that other Honda Accord owners of the 1996 model had the same problems. I even noticed that one had a recall for the damaged part. I have no recall and have lived in the same location. . Just 5 minutes from the Honda dealer where the car was purchased. My car is soaked in oil from the front to the back. . Tires included. I'm surprised it didn't catch fire. People need to be aware of these defects and shouldn't have to pay.
Vehicle will shut down without any notice. Problem can happen at any speed, and is also intermittent. Please provide more information.
Either engine siezed (0w-20 oil) or inadvertent air bag depolyment.
Consumer was traveling about 55mph on highway and vehicle stopped without prior warning. Dealership is aware of problem.

I lost more than half of the oil on 2 mile drive to school- broken seal, with no warning whatsoever. My luck it did not happen on the interstate highway- the car would've been gone. A mechanic at firestone service center was not surprised - he had seen this happen on many other Accords.
An oil seal failed and caused the engine oil to drain out rapidly and caused the engine to seize up, a product update campaign was sent regarding the same type of failure, however consumer had to pay for repairs and is requesting reimbursement.
I was just recently made aware that the problem I experienced with the oil seal failure was not unique. I purchased the vehicle used out of a lease with only 18,000 miles. All service has been done at hidy Honda beavercreek, ohio since I've acquired the vehicle.
Oil seal blew, lost almost all of the oil. No warning. Honda dealer in alhambra, CA said that the engine had ceased, wanted over $8,000 to replace engine. Took it to another local mechanic who said that the engine had not ceased. He had 2 other Honda Accords there with the same problem.
I had to have the balancer shaft seals replaced on my 96 Accord after their complete failure at a cost of $700. In October I received word that the car was being recalled for he problem and that I could submit for reimbursement. Was told to expect payment in 8 weeks. That was 8 months ago. Honda is not processing these reimbursements in even a remotely timely manner. They clai they underestimated the time involed, but even if they process 5 a day they should be mailing out checks. They are stonewalling, and refuse to communicate with the consumer over the mater.
1. 3. 0 l v-6 engines hesitates under slight load or acceleraion between 5 and 60 mph. Honda refuses any attempt at repair. "a characteristic of that car".
The entire electrical system is affected by the use of the blinkers when the car is cold. The engine will not start until the fourth attempt at least once monthly.
Vehicle experienceed a loud gun shot sound from dashboad area while driving. But no reason or cause could be found. Two dealer was contacted and no reason could be given.
Engine mount makes very loud clunk at start-up. Honda says in normal.
The Honda Accord 3. 0 v-6 engine has a hesitiation problem at all speeds anytime that the engine is placed upon a slight load condition, such as going up any grade. Honda indicates that they consider this to be an acceptable 'driveability condition' and refuse to even attempt to correct. I have been advised by another Honda service representative that Honda has attempted many times to correct the problem but have been unable to do so. That being the case, Honda should be forced to state in all their sales promotional literature to prospective buyers that the 3. 0 v-6 has a driveability condition which Honda can not or will not be fixing. If I had been made aware of the 'driveability problem' before the purchase, I would never have purchased the automobile, but would have gone to another manufacturer.

Have taken my car in 4 times and they just reset it. They keep on telling that there's no solution to the problem yet. They contacted the headquarters, and they didn't do anything to satisfy me. I do not feel confortable about my car because I have to miss work and school so much for this problem, and yet they do not do anything. They don't seem to care about this problem. I think I have a lemon and I don't like the way they are treating this situation.
The oil seal failed causing damage to other components, the consumer no longer owns the car, however read where there was a a manufacturer's recall regarding a defective oil seal and would like to be reimbursed.
Cruise control failed to turn off when brake pedal was depressed, cruise control button turned off. Braking system failed to slow or stop vehicle. Only when parking brake was applied did vehicle slow.
Engine losing oil pressure.
When pulling onto the highway and upon depressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle hesitates and cuts off. Vehicle also exhibit a hard shift condition. Consumer contacted dealer, but dealer could not duplicate problem. Dealer repaired vehicle with an unknown part, but problem was still present.
