1 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/09/2022

Fuel injectors failed on two occasions causing the vehicle to lose power and stall while driving at highway speeds. To my knowledge the parts are no longer available for inspection. Our safety was put at risk due the loss of power on the highway. After the second reported incident, the dealer diagnosed the problem and replaced the faulty fuel injectors. To my knowledge, only the repairing dealer inspected the vehicle. The "check engine" light appeared as the engine began to lose power.

2 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/12/2021

While on a 400 mile round trip visit to family, after stopping for a rest room break, my Honda Accord would not start after engaging the push button starter. After a few more attempts, the push button ignition finally engaged. While visiting out of state, I contacted a Honda dealer there and was told there was no recall on the starter assembly for my 2014 Honda Accord and that dealer wanted $850 to replace the starter assembly. I declined to pay that outrageous price, taking my chances to return home, a 200 mile trip. During that trip, there were multiple instances where, after stopping for either gas or a rest room break, it took multiple attempts to start the vehicle. At one point, after driving through a fast food drive thru, I pulled into a nearby parking lot to park out of the way to eat my food but kept the engine running to ensure I would get back home. After returning home, I made an appointment with a reputable local automobile repair shop and while waiting for a replacement starter to be installed, the repair technician came out to me to show me the faulty starter assembly he had removed from my Accord. The original unit removed from my Accord actually came out of the engine in two pieces. It had separated in the middle of the housing. I asked the technician how had it stayed together while it was in the engine and he said he didn't know. (2 photos attached) . At the time of this repair, there were less than 45,000 on this 2014 Honda Accord (thus also on the starter assembly). The repair was made using a generic starter assembly from napa on 04/22/2021 and I was charged $583. 98 total for parts and labor. It's outrageous that such an expensive part didn't last longer than 45,000. I had a 2000 Honda cr-v that I sold with 203,000 mile on it and it still had its original starter. Granted, different type to ignition then. .

3 Car Stall problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/30/2021

My 2000 Honda Accord v6 3. 0 vtec engine is having some issues after it heats up when I start it would do some erratic rpm changes on idle and then stall. If I manage to get it moving despite rpm drops, it runs great and would not stall again. Also, if I leave it for a while (like 15 minutes) and then come back, it usually starts like nothing happened I believe this is a defect with pcm and fuel pressure regulator the issue has to do with ethanol having a lower boiling point than traditional gas. This causes it to vaporize on the fuel rail when the car's warm, but no long pumping gas because it's off. When you go to re-start the car, instead of liquid gas, you are spurting on fumes on the rail. I have not had this fixed on my car yet I've been doing some research and found several articles online and refers to this particular problem I've had my car service with a tune-up oil change and a fuel induction service I've also replaced the alternator and the throttle positioning sensor it is still giving me issues I would like to see if there is validity to my claim.

8 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/01/2020

When vehicle is operating it will stall and turn off completely. All car will turn off and all the lights on the dash would flicker. It stalled on me when I was driving on the freeway. My car stopped as I was going 65 mph, cars behind be swerved as my car came to a complete stop on the freeway. The vehicle also does not start when trying to turn on. All of the lights on the dash will just flicker. I've changed the battery two times. I've got my car diagnose at auto zone and a fuel pump code came up. Took it to Honda to tell them my situation paid 130$ for them to tell me nothing is wrong. When they did the diagnose they said nothing came up on their end. Few days later I drove it and my car stalled out again. I took it to auto zone and they said nothing was wrong with my car. I am afraid if I drive it, it will stall and I will get into a crash. Nobody can diagnose the car because no code pops up anymore, but my car still stall out.

9 Car Stall problem of the 2006 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/08/2020

I filed a recall claim with american Honda. The case number is 11536174. This was for a recall on the airbags. Also, there was a recall on the transmission. The transmission stalls and decelerates when getting above 25 rpm. American Honda said this issue was a recall but appeared to be "fixed" a few years ago. But since this is an ongoing problem, I was assured it would be fixed. Jason, at the service department told me it would be "taken care of" but then, tried to bill me $150 for "diagnostic" fees plus then told the parts and labor would be an additional $800. We were given a rental car. About an hour an 20 minutes after dropping off the car, we were called to say the car was ready. Absolutely nothing was done. The glove compartment was still locked. They would have had to unlock it to make the airbag repair. American Honda told me the entire canister in the air bag area had to be replaced as well as new air bags installed. Misltin Honda screwed us! they also said these 2 repairs would take 6 hours. They fraudulenly billed american Honda for 6 hours and did nothing! they were instructed to provide proof of the old parts to show anything was done! my car remains unsafe to drive, potentially causing the airbags to not deploy and the transmission to stall, causing a crash! I'd like my service to be taken care of by Honda in manteca, please. Mission also billed american Honda for our rental. There was also a recall on something to do with the gas pedal. . A part or computer issue.

12 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/14/2020

While driving on a highway vehicle suddenly shook, all lights on dashboard came on, and vehicle stalled. Vehicle towed to midas. Mechanic there informed me that the issue is faulty engine. I bought the vehicle in 2017 and maintain complete upkeep of the vehicle.

13 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/05/2020

I was on my way to work on a major highway and my car started stalling a jerked forward almost causing a collision I pulled over to a safe area and called my family member he had to drive it to advance auto and they diagnosed it as a faulty fuel pump. I called Honda and my insurance company and got the car towed to Honda where it was also diagnosed as a fuel pump to be replaced per them my car had no other issues as I always keep up the maintenance on the car as I'm still paying for it. The only company that has this part was Honda so they ordered the part and attempted to replace it. Once I received my car back I noticed a strong gas smell and stalling to crank. I called them and had it towed back and they said it was a gas leak they had to replace the whole system they just put in. Once I received the call back I noticed the same thing but this time the scent was significantly strong causing headaches to myself and other people I also have a video of the gas pouring out from under my car after I had just filled up the tank. I told Honda the first time my concerns about it being fixed properly as I have a gas water heater in my garage where the car is kept they ensured me it was fine . I still had reservations about driving the car being stranded or it catching on fire when I received it back the third time . I was right because when I received it back not even two days later the smell permeated my house and garage and the car would not start. I had to call them and get it towed again. This will now be their fourth attempt in fixing my car. All three times they have given my car back I was so afraid of driving it I only moved the car to go to work and back home. According to them they did not have the right tool to apply the fuel pump in the first place and this is what caused the leak. I have reached out to american Honda through email and calls with no response.

14 Car Stall problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/31/2020

The car had a strong smell of fuel in cabin when starting on various occassions. The car also temporarily stalled and lost power when coming to a corner turning and also three times when coming off the freeway. The car was always warmed up and in California during the warm weather. Dealer noted fuel smell in oil and increased oil level. Had oil changed and was told a fix was coming soon. Took car in to dealer months later for a recall, a bcm recall and again I told them that the oil smelled of fuel after 500 miles since oil change. Waiting for manager to call me back with update on fix. It is a 2018 Honda Accord 1. 5 litr turbo. 26,000 miles on motor. I bought the car from the dealer in January 2020.

15 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/12/2020

I believe it is a starter issue. When I go to start the vehicle it will often stall and not the start the first couple times and I can hear it try to start but fail. The car only has 39k miles on it and I was doing my research and a lot of other people have this same issue with their 2014 Accord. I think this should be considered a recall and fixed by Honda or refunded for repair by Honda.

16 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/23/2019

When I first purchased my 2013 Honda Accord from the dealership I noticed sometimes the push start would stall or sound like it was failing. Also my driver side door would not respond to my key fob. All other doors respond to it except the driver door. I have replaced the battery and still the issue hasn't been resolved. I have been taking the actual key out of the fob and inserting it into the car door to unlock my driver side door. Now the ac has began to stop and start. It almost sounds like the fan motor is kicking on and off. And my driver side seat is not sliding back properly. It will began to glide then stop. Then I have to keep pressing and it'll glide back a little and then stop again. Overall I think there is some sort of electrical shortage or something is happening with it. According to the national highway traffic safety administration there was an electrical system recall sent out June 29, 2017. As stated on their website this could result in an electrical short increases the risk of a fire. The NHTSA campaign id is 17v418000 !.

Failure Date: 10/29/2019

My vehicle died going up a small hill for no reason. . . . Like it stalled but I had to restart the vehicle. . . Also the stereo doesn't work I think it could be electrical or the ignition switch? seen on youtube I'm not the only one that this is happening to. It stalls almost and doesn't propel in fifth at I have to down shift and go back to 5th and tei again. . . Sometimes it works other times I try 2 or three time to keep it accelerating. The hill thing was scary. What did it mean?.

21 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/13/2019

I think this might be my 3rd complaint, I love Honda and have had Honda cars for years, but this has really tested my patience. For the last 4 years I have gone through 3 starters and 2 alternators, every time I contact Honda they tell me to drop the car off so they can test it, I pay them $130 so they can tell me what they already know. My problem is that starter issue is very common, and there is no long term fix for this issue. So the issue is back, I end up getting stranded in places for hours at a time, and sometimes even end up being late to work, due to my starter spinning away until I can get it to catch eventually. I took it to get appraised the other day, and it wouldn't start ofcourse, the dealer refused to look at the vehicle ofcourse, because no one wants to sell a lemon. At this point, I am either looking for Honda to buy my car off me, replace it, or come up with a permanent fix. If you go on youtube and type in Honda starter issue you will find plenty of videos, and I also have reciepts for all the trips my car took to the dealer. I am not going to install a 4th starter, that is that rediculouse, I refuse to go to a Honda dealership again for them to tell me what I already know.

22 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Car will fail to start. This is a safety hazard. If the car stalls and won't restart depending on location, eg highway, it could be a major safety hazard. My 2014 Honda Accord has intermittent starter problems. Sometimes it starts fine, other times the lights all go on but nothing else happens. When it won't start turning the car off and trying again usually works. I can also get it to start by leaving the key turned to the start position and pumping the clutch. This indicates the ignition switch is ok and the clutch start sensor switch is ok. I have called the dealer and they say they have replaced a bunch of starters but there is no recall. They want $800 to replace the starter. A web search indicates the starter is a common problem for 2014 Accords. When is the recall? I need to get this fixed. How do I get re-reimbursed if I have this fixed before the recall?.

23 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

My vehicle's starter periodically grinds and will not engage the ring gear to start the engine. Honda has acknowledged that improper installation at the factory caused the clearance between the starter motor gear and torque converter ring gear to be improper. See TSB 16-002. The starter will engage after repeated (sometimes 5+) attempts. If the vehicle were to experience a stall while driving, the inability to restart the engine could lead to a crash. In addition, a starter that randomly and unexpectedly fails to engage could cause a driver to be stranded in potentially dangerous weather conditions. Honda has declined to extend warranty coverage to this part that has failed due to an admitted error on their part.

24 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/30/2019

My 2014 Honda Accord plug in has stalled twice while driving (once on the freeway and once in the middle of a santa monica boulevard). No warning lights or noises to give me the fyi that it's stalling, it just suddenly starts to slow and if I press on the gas pedal it compresses to the floor with ease. . . It also shows me in ev mode when the car has no ev charge remaining. It's like it's in limp mode. Turning the car off and turning it back on again fixes the issue, but when I've taken it to the dealer (twice) they have pulled the computer and have found no records on the car. They say it's "as if the car has never been driven before".

25 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/19/2019

This problem started two years ago and got worse in may. It all started whe we had a rough time starting the vehicle it would take up to 6 time until the car would finally start. We were told it was the battery so we changed the batter up to four time and it still kept having starting issues so then we were told it was the starter so we had it replaced and we are still having issues and now the car stalled on me while stopped in the middle of a busy intersection and it took numerous tries and it finally turned over. Our local dealership had the car for 13 weeks and told us they were able to duplicate the starting issues and then told us a few days later they didnt push the button in long enough so it was there mechanics fault and then tell us they find a draw on the battery and a few days later tells us there mechanic used a faulty meter and then they blame it on our internet, Smart tvs, garage door opener and wifi. I am so tired of all the excuses and need a car that's not going to leave me stranded and that I can feel safe driving the car out of town right now that's not the case. I do have several friends and family members that have had to come to my rescue to jump start my car or we have had to call a tow truck to get it to the dealership. We have had two ase certified mechanics look at it and were able to duplicate the starting issues and the battery draining and they both told us to take it to our local dealership. We have lots of video and documentation of what the car is doing and also friends that will speak on our behalf. No one will ride with me anymore in fear the car wont start or stall while stopped in a busy intersection. We started having issues two years ago but got alot worse in may of this year.

27 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/07/2019

My 2017 Honda Accord coupe has just above 8000 miles on it and almost everyday will stall if I try to accelerate and also try to switch lanes from time to time. There have been so many times where the car will slow down drastically on the road and it is becoming very dangerous. I took it to the service station and since they couldn't find a code when scanning, they told me nothing was wrong and sent me on my way. The car hasn't stopped stalling and it looks like my model has a recall announced for it but it's for a v6 engine and not a v4 which is what I drive. The picture below shows all the lights that turn on from my dashboard when the car stalls.

31 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/30/2018

I recently came upon an article about 2014 Honda's that would over heat and you would lose power causing the vehicle to stall. This happened to my vehicle about a week ago I was driving on the highway at low speed in traffic and my vehicle began to stall before it stalled out I pressed the gas and it returned to normal rpm. It happened again one more time about two minutes later and hasn't happened since.

32 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/15/2018

My 2015 Honda Accord after 33,000 miles is giving me a lot of problem battery wise. I had to have it boosted several times, I took it to a Honda dealer who did a thorough check and who claim there was nothing wrong with the battery. Even being very careful about not leaving anything electric when the power is not on, I still experience tremendous problems with starting the car; I hope I wont have to change the battery at 34,000 miles and barely 40 months old car. Also while in motion I experienced the car wanting to stall, with the power of the car shutting down for a second or 2. There was a recall having to do with the battery.

33 Car Stall problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/08/2018

Tl the contact owns a 2017 Honda Accord. While driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. While in traffic, the vehicle would jerk and then drive normally when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The failure recurred every two weeks. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 09486822. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.

34 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/09/2018

The vehicle does not always start when you pressed the start button and only clicks. This can be dangerous if the car stalls in a busy intersection or rail road crossing and the vehicle cannot be started. To start the vehicle (keyless w/fob), you have to press the brake and press the start button. It appears that the brake pedal pressure and the starting of the car may be part of the issue as we have noticed that the car will more likely start when the brake pedal is soft vs. Hard. Not sure if the issue is isolated to the start button, brake master cylinder, both or the electronics that interacts when these two. Any assistance that you may provide with this issue is appreciated. Thank you.

35 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Honda Accord
