: the contact stated while attempting to move forward with steady pressure on the accelerator pedal, the vehicle slowly accelerated, but lurched forward after the slow start. Although the problem persisted, the vehicle was not seen by a dealer. Took vehicle to Honda. Wanted to replace throttle body and clean injectors for $305. 00. Cost contact just to clean it, $45. 00. Took it to local garage, and they cleaned the throttle body and linkage and everything was fine.

The accelerator pedal locked up intermittently while driving. This almost caused consumer's vehicle to hit another vehicle when consumer had to apply the accelerator pedal harder then normal. Vehicle accelerated at a high speed and lurched forward. Vehicle was taken to the dealer on two separate occasions, and dealer lubricated the linkage the first time, and replaced the accelerator throttle assembly the second time, but problem recurred.

The throttle cable sticks in cold weather, pushing the accelerator peddle to the floor. This has happened three times. One incident occurred while the vehicle was in gear. The vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed. The only way to stop was to put the gearshift in neutral and turn the vehicle off. The vehicle has been to the dealership. They could not find anything wrong. This is a potential safety hazard.
My 96 Honda Accord is not responding properly when treveling at low speeds and are required to move the accelerator pedal to make speed adjustments. A recall information from NHTSA web site(NHTSA campaign number:99i002000) indicates that the dealers will replace the throttle cable. However, both american Honda automoble and philadelphia Honda dealer told me that my 96 Honda Accord is not affected. What should I do? is NHTSA giving wrong information or Honda is?.

Gas pedal sticks continually after cold starts or short periods of not running. Excessive and hard pressure must be applied to gas pedal, evidently to engage the throttle plate and/or throttle linkage. The surprising result to the driver is that the vehicle will lunge forward, often squealing tires, in a speedy and dangerously uncontrolled manner. Can be a potential safety problem, especially if driving in confined areas, parking lots or around predestrians. Our son recently purchased a 1998 Honda Accord, which had developed the same problem. Honda customer relations office admits a service bulletin was released to its dealers about this problem but will not acknowledge it being a safety issue. I have owned 1981, 1987, still own a 1993 Honda Accord among other makes and models and have never experienced gas pedals that bind and stick like the one in this 1998 Honda Accord.
On 3/26/01 Monday, while traveling from hwy 80 from fairfield, CA to vallejo CA. My Honda Accord began to display "unintended acceleration". My foot was not on the accelerator and the cruise control was "off". However, the Accord was accelerating by itself. It felt the car was on cruise control. While going uphill, it began to speed up instead of slowing down. The only way I can slow my vehicle was to downshift at 2nd or 3rd gear. My Accord is an automatic. I had to periodically press the brakes because the car was approachings speeds up to 80 mph. After 5 miles of sheer terror, I decided to exit on an offramp and while the Accord was stopped, the Accord began idling very high. Applying the brakes took effort. Because, once I let go, the car began to accelerate by itself. Finally, I reached the Honda dealership-avery green motors. Until now, the car is still there, because the throttle cable is in back order. The NHTSA campaign id 99i002000 for fuel throttle linkages and control is what I suspect is the defect that is occuring with the Accord. Originally, the dealer quoted an estimate of $90. 00. Then, I received a call that I have a bad throttle cable and it should be replaced. The esitmate was approximately $500. 00. The manufactuer/dealer should/must fix this problem without any cost to me. According to office of defects investigation-recall database 888-327-4236 dealers will replace the throttle cable. Honda has decided to conduct a product improvement campaign to replace the throttle cable. Owners can contact Honda at 800-999-1009. My main question is this. Why was I not notified of this defect? I did not receive any written notification or calls for this type of problem occuring to my Accord. However, I experienced this firsthand on 3/26/01. A potential accident was in a making, especially during rush hour in the morning - 5:30am pst. If advance warning was given to me, the inconveniece and danger would have been averted.
While pulling out of a parking space vehicle suddenly accelerated on its own, driver lost control of vehicle and hit a wall on the front right side. Air bags deployed, but played no part in restraint which was provided by seat belts. Honda lease dept has been contacted. . Et.
Car was parked. When started it suddenly accelerated, first backward onto the sidewalk, resulting in a crash. When put into drive it accelerated rapidly despite applying the brakes full force. I estimate speed of 50+ mph down a crowded city street. When I pulled the emergency.
The gas pedal repeatedly sticks requiring excesssive pressure to get the car moving. The car then dangerously lurches forward. The dealer has been contacted and acknowledges the problem and that it has been reported in other Hondas. They have no fix for the problem, except to clean the linkage which helps for 2-3000 miles.
Whle changing gears vehicle suddenly accelerated, resulting in a collision. Dealer has inspected the vehicle.
Was driving slowly & moving into left lane to turn. Tow truck in left lane. Proceeded to apply brakes. The engine started to rev up & sounded like it was roaring. Rearended tow truck. The wheels on Honda were spinning & smoking as if the accelerator pedal was in use. Foot was never on accelerator pedal. Wheel spinning had to be stopped by turning off the ignition. This is the second time engine had revved & accelerated with foot not on pedal, but on brakes.
While driving at approximately 25-30 mph sudden acceleration occurred, full throttle, the vehicle went out of control, no brakes, crash occurred. Dealer not aware of the problem. Problem still exists. Provide further information.
While pulling into the driveway the vehicle suddenly accelerated. Hit another vehicle and ran onto the stairs of a house, knocked down a fence, and ran into a chipping machine that stopped it. The airbags never deployed. The manufacturer is currently looking into this.
Consumer was driving, applied the brake and car accelerated out of control.
When vehicle is put into reverse it accelerates. Dealer has to replace the transmission.
Upon shifting vehicle from park to reverse on flat surface with foot depressed on the brake pedal, vehicle suddenly accelerated, running into a fence/trash cans, and a street sign efore vehicle came to a stop. Also, gas tank hose was punctured, causing a fuel leak. Consumer has contacted the dealer. Please provide any further details.
When driving at 20 and 30mph vehicle loses power, and excessive pressure has to be applied to the gas pedal. Dealer had to adjust the fuel throttle linkage, but problem still exists.
