The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph when he depressed the brake pedal. The speed rate increased to 65 mph unexpectedly. The brakes were engaged repeatedly. The vehicle continued to accelerate. When the emergency brake was engaged the vehicle came to a stop. The engine was turned off. The police was called to the scene and inspected the vehicle. The police informed that the accelerator pedal was stuck. He applied slight pressure to the accelerator pedal which immediately released from the stuck position. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer for diagnosis. The technician was unable to duplicate the problem. Also, he stated the failure could possibly be related to the driver side floor mat or the gps charger. When driving this vehicle the idle always seemed too fast. Even when the brake was depressed the car appeared to want to go ahead on its own whether in drive or reverse. My parents had reported this problem several times to a local Honda dealer who told my mother she didn't know how to drive and asked my father if he bought gas at a local indian reservation insinuating it was cheap gas that caused the problem. My father stopped driving the car because he felt he could not control it because it was too fast. I drove the car several times and always felt I could not control the speed of the car. On the date noted prior to the crash my mother was at a busy intersection. When the light turned red she had to use both feet to depress the brake in order to keep the car under control. Prior to the crash she was entering a parking lot and had taken her foot off the accelerator to pull-up in front of a building. Her foot was on the brake and the car lunged forward at a very high rate of speed-jumped a curb crossed over a flowerbed and only stopped when it hit a brick retaining wall. My mother tried pressing the brake as hard as she could and had the brake pedal to the floor and the car just kept the momentum going until it hit the retaining wall. When the car came to a stop, both airbags deployed. My father who was the front-seat passenger was badly injured breaking several ribs, requiring surgery and months of hospitalization. He is now non-ambulatory and still recovering. My mother was also badly bruised and could not speak for weeks because of the airbag hitting her so hard. We requested that the police investigate if the accelerator had stuck and to checkout the mechanics of the car and never received a report. Basically, they blamed my mother because of her age. When my mother exited the car at the scene of the crash she was obviously upset and was talking to witnesses and the police took what she said to be her 'statement of admission of guilt'.
Accelerator pedal sticks every morning. You need to strongly depress pedal and the car lurches forward and then it is ok. I presently have it in a shop for repair. Repairman said it looked like Honda tried to fix this as there was yellow paint on throttle hood and a gasket had been replaced? I never took it to Honda for prior service on the throttle. I can have the repairman save the old parts. My son also had this problem with his Honda Accord 2001 and took it back to Honda and they repaired it as it was still under extended warranty. Neither of us had an accident because of this.
I have a 2000 Honda Accord with around 117,000 miles and have had issues of the accelerator sticking for at least a year but never thought too much off it until yesterday when pulling into a parking spot in a parking garage. As I was pulling in my gas pedal stuck and jerked my car forward into a cement wall. I was applying the brakes but the car would not stop. The force of the impact threw my car into neutral from drive, my stereo is now sunken into my dashboard, I hit my head on the roof of my car and my knee went into the dashboard. (the airbag did not deploy which is also a little concerning with how much damage there is to my car) my front bumper is scratched and cracked and it has separated from the front passenger side panel. When I called Honda to have them look at it they quoted me at least $200 diagnoses the problem.

I was driving to work as usual, when my accelerator pedal got stuck while trying to find a parking space. It was a cold morning, around 12 degrees, so I first thought that I was slipping on ice and had no control of the car. Once off the icy patch, my car continued to take off on me, even with my foot on the brakes. It actually continued to speed up and that was the moment I knew I was in trouble. I was in the parking lot when this happened, so I did not have alot of room or time to put it in neutral or actually jump out. I sped out of the entry, through the street, over the curb, through the fence and landed on railroad ties, that thankfully high centered me, and another fence that ultimately stopped me. Both bags deployed and my car was totaled. Once I knew that I was o. K. , I put the car in park, and the engine was still revving. That, I know, is not right. The whole time I could smell burnt rubber or brakes. I know the difference between my gas and brake pedal, and I definitely had my brakes applied. Why would I want to cause this kind of damage to my car and especially myself ? I could have actually killed myself or someone else. If it was not for the railroad ties that high centered me. I would have gone right through the second fence and ended up, who knows where. I definitely had an angel watching over me. I am so upset and sore that I don't know what to do. I spent all day on the internet looking at other incidents involving the same make and model with accelerator problems, especially in cold weather. I guess this is not just "driver error" that everyone seems to think, now is it.
Accelerator pedal sticks upon first start when car is cold. It requires pushing down harder than normal on pedal and car then surges forward abruptly, before working appropriately. Since I back out of my garage without pushing on the pedal, I do not know if this only occurs in forward. Contact initiated with dealership.

The contact owns a 2003 Honda Accord. While driving 65 mph, the accelerator pedal became stuck while turning into the driveway. The failure caused the contact to crash into her neighbor's house. She sustained severe bladder damage and her grandson, seated in the rear seat, sustained injuries to the head, nose, mouth, and eyes. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who determined that the cause of failure was due to three fractured struts. Her neighbor's home and her vehicle endured property damage. A police report was filed. She has not notified the dealer or the manufacturer. A valid VIN was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 41,000.
The contact owns a 2000 Honda Accord. While attempting to turn left the accelerator pedal stuck and the vehicle jerked forward. The vehicle finally stopped after striking a parked vehicle. The vehicle continued to run and would only shut off by turning the ignition switch. The driver's side front bumper and fender were damaged. The vehicle was towed to a Honda dealer, and has been repaired. The current and failure mileage were 140,000. The consumer stated the maintenance light illuminated and beeped four times before she left the house and took the car to the dealer who informed her nothing was wrong with the car. The consumer provided a copy of the repair invoice, police officer's card with report number and report from the insurance company. Updated 07/10/07.
: the contact stated that the vehicle has problems with the accelerator sticking. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanics who cleaned the throttle body service-using carburetor cleaner. Recently the vehicle the same problems recurred when the vehicle was pulling into a parking spot; the accelerator became stuck sending the vehicle crashing into a wall of a bricked building causing damage to the front left side. The airbags deployed and the contact incurred minor injuries. The vehicle will need structural repairs and air bag replacement.
: the contact stated while traveling an undetermined speed the accelerator pedal stuck without warning causing the vehicle to surge forward on two occasions. The dealer could not duplicate the problem.
My 2000 Honda Accord lx (srs light remain on). Gas pedal get stuck, rotor and drum was bended.
I have a 2000 Honda Accord lx, the gas pedal turned to be sticky at the end of 2005 and since then it turned to be sticky every year. It has been fixed three times by the dealer.
While accelerating from a stop the accelerator pedal became stuck intermittently. The consumer was able to decelerate the vehicle. Dealership repaired the iac valve. Both rear seat belt became stuck. The transmission was very noisy. Both front wheel bearing were replaced because they were making noise.
Accelerator stuck in a parking lot. Braking would not stop the vehicle. Attempted to throw the car into park just before impact. Dealer will not investigate for defects!!!.
While driving, the accelerator pedal became stuck to the floor. The driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle by shutting off the vehicle and coasted to the side and turned the vehicle off. The consumer was able to restart the vehicle and drove it to the dealer. The mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.
I have a 1998 Honda Accord ex. For last 3-4 months started noticing that the accelerator sticks when first starting to drive. On applying more than normal pressure it suddenly releases and vehicle surges forward. My mileage is only 54,000 now. Took it to a dealer in hartford and he says I need to shell out nearly 200 bucks to get throttle cleaned, this despite regular maintainance as recommended by the manufacturer. I have seen others with similar complaints and who got throttle cleaned and it was giving same problem again after 2000 miles, so what's the gurantee it won't happen again. Money is not important to me, but safety of me and my family. I feel this is a serious safety issue which Honda should be fixing and not denying. I have nearly crashed into other cars in the parking lot, almost hit the parking lot enterance gate as the car uncontrollable races forward. I did not expect this from a Honda, it has been flawlessly working so far.

Accelerator pedal sticks when car is cold requiring you push down hard on accelerator to loosen up pedal.
Accelerator pedal sticks when depressed-extremely dangerous! needed to shift to neutral and physically reach down and pull pedal up while travelling at a high rate of speed. Thankfully no other drivers were nearby!.
The accelerator pedal became stuck intermittently at 2-3 mph. The dealer could not find a problem.
Accelerator pedal sticks when applied. This was an intermittent problem. The throttle body was cleaned due to carbon on the throttle plate. The front pads were replaced.
The accelerator pedal became stuck, when the weather was cold.
2000 Honda Accord: vehicle speed control- accelerator sticks after vehicle is parked for extended periods. Occurs daily. Hot or cold weather. I must press hard on gas pedal to release the sticking. Cleaning throttle plate does not fix the problem. Dealer not contacted.
Car accelerated uncontrollably. Was forced to shut engine off. Next morning, car accelerator stuck again, but car was in park. I took the car to the dealer and the dealer says nothing shows up on the computer, so there's nothing they can do unless they can duplicate the incident. I guess I'm supposed to wait until it happens again and then drive at full throtle to the dealer!.
Accelerator pedal sticks closed due to obstruction in throttle body. To overcome inertia; excess pressure on pedal is required. When obstruction clears; engine rpm is very high causing vehicle to surge if in gear. Cleaning throttle body is required every six months. Cost is prohibitive.
Accelerator sticks in morning on first startup.
When the vehicle is started the accelerator sticks in the idle position. Once the vehicle is put in gear, the accelerator won't move unless using extreme force, then it will lunge forward or backward if in reverse. The problem was momentarily fixed by lubricating the throttle body but after 15 to 20,000 miles problem reappears.
Accelerator pedal would sticks while driving. Feel free to provide any further information.
While driving, consumer has problem accelerating. After contacting dealer, dealer noted that there is a build up of carbon in throttle body. Consumer states when attempting to apply the accelerator it will stick, causing consumer to press harder on the gas to move the vehicle foward or in reverse, which then causes the vehicle to lurch foward at times.
My accelerator sticks when you first try to mash it down, then the car jumps.
The accelerator stuck and I applied the brakes but the car continued to go faster. The car continued to gain speed which resulted with the right side of the car going in the ditch. This caused the car to airborne. When the car landed it continued to plow forward for another 20 feet or so before stopping two feet from another ditch. I was applying the brakes the entire time with no results. Both of the air bags deployed which caused injury to my hand and arm.
