6 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/15/2007

I bought my 2006 Honda Civic ex coupe brand new in November 2005, problems started to occur shortly afterwards for instance the airbag light had a malfunction and recalled the dealer didn't fix it the first time, very inconvenient, brake pedal was fixed before I bought the vehicle, there was a recall on that as well because could fall off and cause a crash. I have taken it in to Honda service to get problems fixed and numerous times, been told that its normal or some other ?!@#$% they always gave me the run around, the service people are rude, mean and incompetent and ignorant. I have taken my 06 Civic in a total of 8-10 times now to fix problems they never fix anything! interior trim is poor/poor altering from the factory, panels loose and popping out interior scratches too easily/fragile cheaply made ?!@#$% (still), front drivers seat wont retract all the way back anymore like it used to (new) weather stripping is lifting up by front windshield (still) various rattles from interior (still), undercoating/under body spray from factory is peeling completely off (new) door panel flexes and rpms rise when using windows/now seems to roll up/down slower than before (still/new) keep in mind im only at 11,000 miles too! Honda and toyotas quality is going downhill very fast especially with the Civic, crv, rdx, mdx, camry, tundra, highlander, landcruiser, yaris, and rav4. The last year before the redesign of these vehicles the quality was great, now it seems like Honda and Toyota are either teaming up together or competing to see who can make the cheapest and ?!@#$% vehicle with cheaply made materials and taking shortcuts, changed a suppliers or something, these problems are unacceptable for a new vehicle.

15 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2003 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/24/2003

Frequently, braking will actually cause an acceleration. If I'm going down a hill and am pressing slowly on the brake to slow down, and then hit a bump in the road, the car accelerates and there's a bump, bump, bump until finally the brakes engage. I have taken it in for service and was told this is just the way abs works. However, I have driven other cars with abs (including Hondas) and have never had this problem. This has happened over 30 times since I bought the car several months ago. One time I nearly collided with the car in front of me.

21 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 2000 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/13/2001

From the first day I drove the Civic home there has always been a severe vibration coming from the abs everytime I hit a bump or pothole-I usually feel these vibration at low speeds as when I am driving out of my bumping driveway, the vibration is really severe when I am apply the brakes to not hit a bump or pothole too hard. I really didnt give it much thought (figured I was just needing to get used to new technology) until while driving at slow speed (25 or less) on an icy city of tulsa , ok, evertime I applied the brakes gently to come to a stop at a stop light the front brakes vibrated violently & locked up preventing me from coming to a safe stop. Once the brakes locked the Civic immediately went into a slide & only stopped when it's momentum slowed down. The brakes were absolutely useless in stopping the vehicle by gently slowing it down as has been normal with every other vehicle I have ever owned. I was so afraid of the brakes that I tested them on the bumping gravel road just before I got home that afternoon and sure enough they locked up again under more pressure than needed under normal braking conditions. I discussed this problem with don carlton Honda's service supervisor today (02/16/01) when I took the car in for it's oil change. I was told that this is the way Honda's abs operates and the brakes are designed for dry weather & smooth road conditions and if the brakes ever sense slipping or rough conditions they will "always" lock up because of their design and that there is nothing to be fixed or that can be done by Honda to correct the problem. I find this explanation "absurd" and "ridiculous" -how could brakes this dangerous be considered normal. The only reason I didn't plow into someone that icy day is because luckily for anyone else & me there was no car or person in front of me when I tried to stop on the icy city street. Please help me if you can-I am now scared to drive this car.

24 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1999 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/08/2000

I was traveling at less than 15 miles per hour. The traffic was coming to a stop. When I applied the brakes in order to stop, they did not work. I began pumping them, but that did not work right away. After a few times, the brakes finally worked, but it was too late. I was already about to rear end the car in front of me. This happened 2 weeks before when a relative borrowed the car. He almost had to use the emergency brake, but they worked after he pumped them. Honda does not care. They had the brakes tested and said they were fine. I don't care about a huge law suit. I just do not want this to happen to anyone else. I want justice andthe money I have lost for the deductible, the rental car fees, and other losses.

30 Brake Electric Antilock problem of the 1998 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/24/1998

May 9, 1998 when the first occurence happened. I was driving at 25-30 mph and when I needed to brake, it didn't work at the first time. I had to pump several times and still it didn't work at all, so I used the emergency hand brakes, and so it stopped. This happened when my mileage was prior to 1479. The next day, I contact paragon Honda to schedule the check-up. May 13, 1998 - I took the car to paragon Honda and relate them my complain. They test drive it and found all ok at that time (I have the invoice no. 85016 dtd. 5/14/98). The weekend (may 17, 1998) when I used the car, the same problem happened again. I feel very very scared because I almost got into accident. I had to pump several times and still it didn't work at all. Same remedy, I used the handbrakes to stop it. May 18, 1998 - this time I talked and insisted with the paragon manager that they should really test and check the car brakes for several days. They roadtested the car for 163 miles, and found everything normal. After couple of months, it happened again. This time I was hesitant to take the car back to Honda dealer because they were not able to solve the problem. I was so busy with my business that I had no time to go to the dealer and fight for my right to have my car fixed. I decided later on to go to a consumer complaint bureau to ask for advise as to what to do, till I tried to check you on the internet. Last month of November, it happened at least once a week when I'm driving at 25-30 mph. This time, I decided to take a serious action on this problem. Please if you have any question, call us at 212-594-2988. I appreciate your immediate action on my complaint. Thank you. Janos papai.
